GO LEMMINGS GO
Or: Title, Shmitle

Ah, good to see, as much as things change, the more they stay the same.

Case in point: The "outrage" over Vince's WWF Title Win.

The WWF/WCW lemmings are up in arms again, circling with spears, boiling oil, and the latest update from their favorite "Smart" site, screaming the blasphemy that Vince DARES to discredit his WWF title and the great names that have held it with such a BONEHEADED decision (WCW Lemmy) or any of a number of markout responses ("It's great entertainment, Vince won't hold it long, you don't GET it') from the WWF Camp.

Sayth T: "So What?"

To the WWF-er's: Oh, get over yourself. While this is a great way to set up a vacant title for the Six Pack match (Insert Sean Waltman joke here), having a TOTALLY non credible old fart dethrone your top heel is not a clever booking move, especially when there doesn't seem to be any one who can immediately assume that spot if Hunter's heat dies (what with Shane/Vince face turns, and UT injured, and The Rock having been heel too recently.). Sure, it was a great moment, but it may bite Vince right in his bloodied nose.

WCW'ers: You mean the WWF (gasp) ACTUALLY has a credible title? Give me a break. Totally ignoring the tank bombs that call themselves the LightHeavy and Women's titles, you have five titles on hand (Tag, Euro, IC, Hardcore, and World). Two of those current title holders has had the title just HANDED to them (Mark Henry: the Euro, Al Snow: Hardcore). Hell, if your name ISN'T D'Lo Brown, and you have been a European Champ recently, it was given to you! The current tag team champions are fueding with each other, and won them in a Buried Alive tag team match where only ONE partner was buried, and not even by a participant in the match to boot. Oh, and speaking of that discredited, blasphemous World Title, we had nearly two months of buildup of HHH as a heel (and to a WT match with Austin) which saw the stakes change in a week as a babyface ref and Mankind were added, and then saw Mankind drop the title on RAW in a match with Shane McMahon as referee and Chyna interfering freely. WWF, discredit a title? NEVER, MAN, NEVER.......

(Diagram Note: Shane McMahon, clearly biased toward Vince, as ref. HHH dominates match, not selling any of Vince stuff. Austin interferes, hits HIS finisher, and puts Vince on top. You guys have this backwards: VINCE put HHH over, not the other way around. If anyone watched that match and believed that Vince "beat" HHH, go get your head examined.)

Oh, by the way, VINCE OWNS THE COMPANY.I know you guys know, as much as you guys pointed that out, leave it to me to give you the other side of the coin: he can do whatever the hell he wants to with a program he produces and pays for. Granted, he and Shane beating Big Show/Undertaker in a 30 minute "classic" for the tag titles MIGHT NOT bring in the ratings, but he pays for it: an akin situation would be someone running a news site. If they pay for the costs of running said site, endless self promotion is their right -- they just might not have very many clicks.

WWF fans, stop the burning of foam fingers, take off the "Attitude" bandanas and learn to say a coherent sentence without the words "don't get it.". Those of you in Turnerland, please put down your boiling oil and missiles made entirely of your 20-year collection of "The Observer" and PWI magazines pointed at Stamford, Conn., take off your lucha mask (that IS a mask, right?) and just enjoy the show.

(Cut to Commercial)

Public Service Announcement:

Mr. T, in association with (insert whatever site's name you're reading this on here), would like to remind you that these (pic of various wrestling titles here) are really only props for these (logos for various wrestling shows here), and mean diddly outside of here (picture of wrestling arena.).

(Note -- Lemmings, boil me not. The last two paragraphs were only humorous in nature. Email is still welcome.)

Later!
