ALL IN A DAY'S WORKRATE

What's up workrate freaks? My Mailcity spellcheck is NOT working AT ALL, so if this is sloppy(Unless CRZ is kind enough to do it for me just this once)I apologize. In the future I will write somewhere else as to avoid this problem. I still have yet to play ECW Hardcore Revolution but when I do, expect to get a review. I am a recovering video game addict, so if I like it, it's probably damned good. No real style of review this week. Remember the Dream PPV is coming up, so cast your vote now! Any wrestler from 1997 until now is eligble so if you want Owen, HBK, or others, they're fair game. This column will have No Way Out predistions, Wrestler of the week, Random thoughts, and a look at WCW and WWF for the week.

Theres a LOT of great writers at the [slash] so check them out and write 'em a note on what you thought! Some of my fav's are, in no order(don't get pissed if you aren't included, I probably just forgot): Michaelangelo, The Icon, Rebecca Cerese, Gregg Mixdorf, Chris Brooker, Sharon Austin, myself, and of course, the guy we owe it all to for giving us a chance...the mighty CRZ(insert cheap heat here. Try to check them all out, as well as the others.

This paragraph was the last one put in but I am VERY offended and feel I need to defend myself, and even make a childish attack in return to the one received. Juggernaut in his first column here, decided to attack me, various other writers, and inadvertantly wrestlers with his naive and ignorant comments. I never stated this before becuase I didn't think it was pertinent to the column but right now I think it may be. I am training to be a pro wreslter. I bust my ass and every damn week and am sore every damned week, I am not complaining though, to me it's worth it. But to hear someone, bash what I love and what I do, I can not stand idely by. To say workrate is a dumb idea because: "I must say that workrate is an awfully stupid concept. Hello, wrestling is fake remember? Since its all fake and none of the moves REALLY hurt, who cares about how 'realistic' and painful the moves look? I know 100 more fake moves than you do! Should the wrestlers go out of their way to do cool moves like the Hardys that will probably leave them in a wheelchair like Dynamite Kid just to satisfy some lazy fucks who sit in front of their computers all day?)." This is pure ignorance. What you get taught is how to fall without seriously hurting yourself and others. Does this mean that it doesn't hurt? To twist the quote of a great "fake" wrestler, "Aw, hell no" IT HURTS. It hurts like HELL. We do as to not break bones or cause serious injury, but to say it is fake is offensive to and others. I work out very hard, harder than this guy has EVER thought of working out probably, and I get my ass beat every week-end, the combonation of which leaving me unendingly sore and stiff, and then I read this??? I feel attacked. Wrestling is 50% fake at the most, and here is a great idea, who cares if it liiks real or how hard they try?? WTF?? I can hear JR now, "Rikishi sit piledrives Saturn but since Perry's head was actually protected, Saturn just gets back up and punches and kicks Rikishi but since they are pulled punches and kicks Rikishi no sells it, so Saturn comes off the ropes tih a clotheslin that probably did hurt, but it sure as hell isn't going to know the fat man down so now they have a no-sell, staredown! GOD, THE DRAMA IS MYTHICAL!!!" Great idea, buddy, workrate sucks. Knowing a lot of moves and using psychology and selling suck too, after all, we'd all be satisfied with a thousand Hogans anyway. And how dare you attack the Hardys, these guys are golden highflyers, and the that you even compare them to the Dynamite Kid saying they are all wheelchair bound is insulting to all 3 of them, and completely insensitive. These people loved the SPORT of it. And to call all internet columnists lazy fuck who sit in front of their computers all day, well, speak for yourself asshole. A lot of us are hardworking college kids, and are quite athletic, I already stated my own story. So to sum it up, that was one of the most offensive thins I have ever read, especially considering I think a portion of it was aimed at me. A last comment where I will stoop to your level: Fuck you. Try to have some knowledge about what you talk about because you know what happens when you assume. After all worshiping the Rock shows how much you know. How did he help ALL those people? By being in the same segment/match with them? Please.

Anyhow, I apologize for that little rant, but I felt I had to. Lets get this party started, a-ight.

WWF

Raw was average this week. Maybe ol' Vinny Mac is getting back to normal. I guess its not fair to want all the show how they were when the Radicals first arrived, but....I do anyway. Godammit, I thought we were about to be in another Autsin/McMahon era, in terms of fun, addicting viewing. But, alas, it's back to normal. Mind you though, there are 4 great new wrestlers in WWF, which I am happy as a clam about, but I feel like something is missing. Anyhow, Angle/Jericho is looking to be great and is probably my fav feud in WWF after CJack/HHH. I marked out like a mad man when Kurt stole the "EEEEEEEEEEEVVER" line, funny stuff. H3 Vs CJack in Hell in a Cell should be a super match up. I know tis the thing these days(rightfully so) to say "Mick, please stop being hardcore, please stop bumping like a masochist...etc, etc) but DAMN, if Foley jumps off the cell and gives H3 an elbow through a table like he says he will.....that could be bump of the year #432 for the Mickster, and as long as he doesn't die or get seriously injured, I WILL LOVE IT! I know people think they are pretty boys(I speak of the Canadian Blondes, Hardy Boys, and II Cool)but COME ON! Stop being jealous would ya? These are some of the most talented North American wrestlers around these, days esp. the Hardyz, so stop crying because they get the girls, and jsut enjoy what they do for us guys. Speaking of which, Hardy Boyz Vs The Canadian Blondes (which ones?, lol) ought to be great, then again 90% of Hardy matches are great. Not in terms of psychology, but hey, they're getting there. Throw them in with Malenko & Benoit, they can teach ANYBODY, and would really help out those loveable Hardy Boyz a lot. The Jeff Hardy match Vs. Jericho on Heat was OK, but Jericho(purposely or not) made the Jeffster look really green, odd since they are friends in real life, I thought the chemistry would have been far greater. Within the last few days Tyler Morgan, one of the many great [slash] colimnists was stating that Y2J wasn't living up to ability. That he wasn't Jericho anymore. That he got eaten by hype. Well, perhaps during the Curtis Hughes, jobbing to everybody days, Jericho's heat wasn't all that great, but now???? He gets one of th top3 pops of the night EVERY show! His shirts are selling like hotcakes(the new one is dope!), and though admittedly his workrate was not nearly up to par when he first arrived after his hiatus, he's returning to form and he no longer fights cruisers! I am waiting for him to fight his newly joined WCW buddies, they are guaranteed to be great ones! Anyone who thought that Jericho would be the same in WWF as he ws in WCW was wrong from the get-go. WCW his gimmick was much more of a midcard gimmick, thats not to discredit it, but to be a WWF main eventer(which is what he and the WWF are both shooting for) you need

1.) To wrestle the WWF main event style. If you don't know what the hell I am talking about watch about 4-5 WWF main events fomr the past few years, any will do; then watch ANY other wrestling match, even mid and low card WWF the main event in Stamford is a style all it's own.

2.)Either a tough guy character, a cocky prick character, a complete unadulterated scum bag character, or perfectly play the monster character. Jericho is obviously going to shoot for the cocky prick character, anything else he wouldn't fit the role right. The thing that scares me is the only other guys who played a cocky prick well enough to main-event a WWF card was HBK & Ric Flair, and that a DAMNED tall order to live up to.

3.) You also need a styleish and cool entrance song, and electrifying entrance in general, he's had that since Day 1. Personally I think Jericho, though I too miss his beautiful matches of old, will end up being a great wrestler in another sense, the heavyweight/storyline sense. Here's to hoping this new style helps, a'la HHH, and doesn't hurt, a'la Rocky Maivia. On other WWF news I'd like Rebecca Ceresse to know that her tag main event at Wrestlemania 2000 is most likely coming, hint hint, now I will shut my mouth.

Elroy Jetson-Holly is the new Hardcore champ! Smackdown! was pretty good last night. Nothing to great. The 4-man tag match that had Canadian Blondes & Hardys Vs. HeadCheese & Malenko/Saturn was quite good, I think my fav suplex, the Tiger Suplex, that was the first time I saw it in Big2 land, thanks Saturn! You know in a perfect wrestling world, The Hardy Boys would get the belts at Wrestlemania 2000 and proceed to feud with Saturn and Malenko for a good 2-4 months. I bet they could provide some tag matches of the decade and the Hardys would come out of it years smarter. Chris Benoit Vs. Kane was a good match as they both look really sharp tonight, and Benoit was wrestling like Benoit. I predict him feuding with Jericho over the IC title for Wrestlemania 2K. D'Lo once again looked great, he seems to be returning to form lately. Does he know something we don't? I hope so. Triple H provided the two classic moments of the month for me. First from within the cage CJack says "I am going to tear you apart!" and Hunter, in a voice he probably uses for Chyna, goes "Awww, no you're not. You're in a cage Jack.....Where's a stick? Somebody got a big stick? I want poke him a bunch with a stick" LOL. reminded me of his pre-vicous Mo**erf**ker days. THEN at the end when Show threw Rocky threw the window at first it startled HHH and he had a look on his face like someone farted in church, then he notices what happened and he and Stephanie give Show HUGE smiles and a big 'thumbs-up, big guy'. ROTFL. I swear, my cheeks and gut were sore as hell by the time I could stop laughing. Anyhow......

WCW

Sid won. That is both good and bad news. Bad because Sid isn't as good in a ring or on a stick as JJ and good because they didn't award Scott Hall for being a troublesome drunkard as WCW would probably have done in the past. Speaking of Scott Hall, apparently he had had a major spinal injury and just got realesed from the hospital with a brusied spine. Well, not to sound callous but, maybe this is what he needed. A little while ago it seemed as if Scott Hall was coming back into the sober, successful world of yore. Since then he has fallen right back into being an injury prone drunk. Maybe being in the hospital forced to be sober, he can think a little bit about his future, his family, his job, etc. Because he certainly has come close to ruining all of those things way too many times now. I hope this spinal injury doesn't take him out for good though, because I sense the next Jake Roberts with this one if circumstances present themselves. Nitro sucked, pretty badly too. No Crowbar, no Norman(good for me, bad for ratings), no 3 Count, no Johnny the Bull, a run in during Kidman-Lash, I could name more but I am trying to forget. I have to give the devil his due as Thunder wasn't too bad this week. Vampiro Vs. Flair is a match I have wanted to see for a while now, and it was pretty good. TAFKAPI Vs. Crowbar was actually a better natch than I thought TAFKAPI had in him, good job. And then Kidman & Booker T Vs. The Harris Bros. Good match here probably the night's best but it still wasn't all that spectacular. Torrie's looks provided the spectacular part of this match(and night). They had some OK matches but overall it still was pretty bad. I wish I could take a poll becuase, I really wonder when WCW will realize that they need to push and focus on the YOUNG. For God's sake man, WWF did the whole "New Generation" thing almost 4-5 YEARS ago!! Kinda pathetic that all this time later Dub-ya See Dub-ya still hasn't got a clue.

No Way Out Predictions I truly think 'No Way Out' should be all cage matches but anyhoo...

The Big Red Retard Vs. X-Puke
If it was a perfect world Kane would win in a squash to keep reaserting the moster image he's getting again. But the NAO will probably beat him down for half the match WITH 'Pac until Kane makes the amazing comeback and wins with a chokeslam back in the ring. Neither of these guys are too great at garbage matches, so unless it's a sqaush, expect dissapoinment.

The Canadian Blondes Vs. The Titanium Spines
Wanna know what I think? I think one of 2 things will happen. One, the Hardyz win. Two, it ends up some screwjob where they BOTH win and go to Wrestlemania 2000 for a dance with whoever the champs happen to be. I do not see TCB coming out with a win here under any circumstances other than a heel turn. Expect Jeff Hardy to do a Swanton bomb in some crazy, suicidal situation.

Damn Dudleyz Vs. The Enya loving Outlaws

Dudleyz win. NAO have had the belts for a while(which is the case for most belts, WWF wants them to mean something again I think) and due for a loss here. The Dudleyz are the most hated tag team in a LONG time. Usually, these past few years when a tandem got successful they went face, this ought to be a nice change.

Too Much and the Sultan Vs. the Workrate Gods.

People almost ALWAYS win their debut tag match, but it also might be due paying time. I guess if I had to pick, i'll go with the faces. But if the heel DO in fact win, Benoit gets the pin. Should be a match with good heat and is a 'Show-Stealer' cantidate.

Kurt Angle Vs. Chris Jericho

This one is going to be great. I'd say a classic but, One: I don't think it'll get the 15-25 minutes it would need, and Two: The one and only thing Angle lacks is pstchology. Since Jericho is not yet able to provide a carrying job, this one ought to settle around ***1/2 to (not likely) ****. Pray with me: Dear <insert your God here> please let Chris Irvine, known to all as Chris Jericho AKA Y2J, please stop using the Lionsault as his finisher. It is obnoxious and not credible, long live the Liontamer. Thanks, <insert your name here>.

Big Goofy Vs. Flex Kavana

So all the Rock has to do is say "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT..." and he can over-ride the rule book? I bet Austin wishes he knew about that little trick a few years ago. Goof had stepped up his game a little lately, but enough to suit my tastes. Rocky, though I wouldn't go so far as to say he gives 110% everytime when he only does 5 moves(he actually does know more, it's true;watch his older stuff), will try to keep the match at a good pace, but the goof may just stop him. Expect Big Show to give Maivia a big headbutt and Rocky to go down like he was shot. Rock doesn't lose on PPV unless its special circumstances, if you think he does, well, cue the McMahon music 'cause that's what ya got.

The Game Vs. The Lame

Calm down, I don't mean lame in the insulting way, I mean the guy doesn't well anymore! Jeez. Mick will probably dive with an elbow drop, but I think there will be some way they set it up where it doesn't kill the 2 of them. maybe through 2-3 tables on top of wach other or something else to pad the fall. Expect whatever he does to make the Raw is War entry segway in a few weeks though. Mickey comes out with the win, as he'll retire(will he?) at Wrestlemania 2000, perhaps even beating the Rock only to lose the belt to him the next night on RAW. I think Vince will give Foley his dream there. He should anyway. HHH finally loses the title.

There you have it. By the way if all the spots I called happen, expect me to gloat the next time you hear from me.

Wrestler of the Week: Kurt Angle.

He put out stellar interviews all week long; talking about how he had to hit Cyhna because she was going to try and pawn his European title belt for more breast enhancement surgery. LOL. He is very unique with his interview style and it obviously is appreciated, as told by his heat. He has worked some top WWF matches this week too, and a lot of why I am giving him the wrestler of the week is because he made it to his first main event this week on Smackdown!, congrats. I have a feeling this guy will see many more in the years to come.

Random Thoughts:

  • Will somebody PLEASE tell me if Chyna is Y2J's valet? I'm still confused.

  • Chyna has a fireworks bazooka.lol.

  • Though a fireworks bazooka is a little too gimmicky for WWF these days, I wish I had one for my own uses.

  • Kitty? Kitty, kitty, kitty? Where is she?

  • Speaking of 'whhere is she?', where is Debra? Too busy to be on TV? Then why keep paying her?

  • Triple H is funny. "Your pajama top", "Your millions of stale catchphrases", "your no-talent ass", etc. I don't see how people think he is bad on the mic, I truly don't.

  • RVD is in TV Guide. Check it out in the Sportsview.

  • Chyna should've pawned the Euro belt to get H3 a nose job.

  • "Slippy" Viscera, rotfl. Thats a good one. Credit to whoever the hell said it.

  • Bang!Bang! Just in case he doesn't make it to WM2000

  • Notice the editing they had to do for the X-Pac/Kane spot?

  • Rikishi caught X-pac in a "Buh-Buh Cutter" and Michael Cole said "Nice, stunner by Rakishi. You KNOW he is going to get in some trouble for that

  • Have you noticed the lack of attractive women(except for Stephanie) in the WWF the past few weeks? That leaves me with just 2 words: Damn Dudleyz!

OK, I feel like I am forgeting something but his was a damn big column so I most likely didn't. Not too many rumors this week, except for Scott Steiner getting charged around the $100,000 range for his shoot interview a few weeks ago. They are trying really hard to force out their best heel and best talker. I know he's troble but who isn't in WCW? I don't think the example they are trying to make of him will be made too well. If you made it this far, congrats and thanks. Remember, letters are highly appreciated, be it praise or telling me i'm half-retarded and a bastard(as long as it has to do with wrestling). So keep writing people, I will reply to anything you inquire/comment about. To all my hooches and my freaks, keep it up. To all my workrate freaks, you're right(usually). And to everyone else, take care and keep reading.
