ALL IN A DAY'S WORKRATE

Hello and welcome to the first of what I hope will be many, "All in a Day's Workrate". No actual column yet, as I figured that first I would introduse myself and present a bit of my background. I first got into wrestling in 1988 for Wrestlemania IV. A friend of my mothers thought I looked bored and let me watch the tape, I have been a fan of both Randy Savage and professional wrestling ever since. I missed out for a period of 3 years from 1993-96 basically because wrestling as a whole was crap during that period, though there will be things from then that I will refer to now and then. I am new to the Japanese scene but from what I have seen so far it looks excellent. I also never got into Luche Libre but I have seen a good portion of it. I consider myself very knowledgeble in the history of U.S. wrestling so if I say something wrong please let me know, it's appreciated. Any feedback is always welcome, whether it be positive or negative. BUT remember this is my FIRST-EVER column so let me find a grove before I get too much hatemail.

Anyway, on to the column!

First, i'd like to start off by saying that this past Monday was the best episode of Raw in about a year. First you have the introduction of the 'The Radicals' (bad name) which for me, who loves these wrestlers yet is more of a WWF fan, was the mark-out moment of the year so far. D-Lo & Eddy talking about the frog splash was just way too cool. As was the rips Cactus Jack made on WCW. The only thing was that these guys need either a sexy woman to talk for them or to all take Malenko's old silent gimmick. I don't know which was worse Benoit-"We just want an oppurunity" in a put-on awkward voice or Guerrero(sp?) telling HHH that he had "smoke coming out of his ears" when HHH said he was thinking about letting them in, and HHH's monotone "Oh. That's funny. You're a real humorous guy." line had me cracking up. Also on Raw we saw the further progression of the Dudley Boyz storyline which is just great. I was a fan in ECW but in WWF (though they were a little better than average) they seemed to be missing something. Enter that something, ie:The Hardyz and gimmick matches, and the 'Damn' Dudleyz are shooting to the list for my fav tag teams. It seems every show you can be positive you are going to see them absolutly tear somebody and provide the segment with very possibly the nights coolest spots. The aPa ("two little 'A's and a big 'P'!") also is absolutly hilarious as Bradshaw must be praticing in the mirror or something because he is getting to be one of the better talkers in the WWF, which is no easy feat!

On to the WCW news front. All I can say is WCW is soon to be the #3 promotion in the country if SOMEBODY with an bit of power doesn't go to the 5&Dime and buy a brain. They let 4 of the best workers on the damn planet have their releases for...KEVIN "ZODIAC" SULLIVAN??????? WTF???? This guy is a dog-shit booker and between him and 'Big Lazy' Nash we may never see a worthy champion in WCW for years to come! This gets a big FUCK YOU from me because around a year and a half to two years ago WCW was really a quality fed, fuck it bring me Paul E.!

Which is a segway for some ECW thoughts...

Mike Awesome is THE BEST big man in North America, bottom line! Sorry, Kane, between the bad angles and your inablitity to decide if you wna to be great or good you lost your spot to the meanest sonofabitch in ECW. And since this is the first time i've spoken of ECW let me say this: Lance Storm is a wrestling God! I have folloed this guy for a long while now and he is absolutly amazing, which along with his steadily improving mic skills, leads me to believe that if he were to go to one of the Big 2 he would end up as the next HBK. Yeah you heard me! Not Jericho, not Jeff Hardy(when it comes to HBK he is NOT), and no not Lenny Lane, THE closest thing you will ever see to anouther HBK is Lance Storm in about 2 years. After just because you are talented and blonde long hair doesn't make you a worthy comparison of the greatest wrestler of the 90s and possibly ever!

Well, that is about it for now, I have a few ideas that should make for some interesting columns to come, along with making a column like this either weekly or biweekly. Again, write "KingSize@Mailcity.com" and let me know what you think whether its positve OR negative and I will respond, I promise.

Until we meet again......
