JIM ROSS, JR. REPORT
January 5, 2001

J.R., Jr. is back this week with news and opinions from under his Official Oklahoma Sooners National Championship Locker Room Cap! National Champs! Boomer Sooner!

I'm looking forward to the big match for this week's RAW is WAR when Stone Cold Steve Austin challenges Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship. Barring any McMahon shenanigans, this should be an excellent contest.

Folks, I don't have a clue about the card for the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View that is only a little over 2 weeks away, but I'm damn sure it should be a fantastic show. The Royal Rumble match is one of the most exciting and entertaining concepts in the history of the WWF.

Did I mention how great my Sooners played Wednesday night? They were 10.5 point underdogs before game time and ended up topping the favored Seminoles by 11 points. What a way to cap off what has been an incredible year for my alma mater. My dear old daddy was fired up by the victory. Definitely, an excellent birthday present for the old man if you ask me.

I wasn't very impressed with TV this week. To my knowledge other than the annual Royal Rumble there has not been one match announced. I would like to see some title defenses at the Rumble and more importantly, storylines need to be progressed at a quicker pace.

Al Snow should be ready to return to action after the Royal Rumble.

I'm not a very big fan of Kaientai's latest gimmick. I know the company is trying to go for comedy with it, but from where I sit, I don't see much comedy in it.

There is no guarantees if Rob Van Dam does sign with the WWF. Many fans on the Internet have a high opinion on this great talent, but with all incoming talent they have to prove themselves to not only management, but the WWF Superstars.

I'm very excited about the upcoming XFL season. Feb. 3rd is the day XFL action begins. No doubt, it will be scrutinized by the media. I'm sure the "cool guys" who do highlights at ESPN and Fox Sports Net will take shots, but that comes with the territory. They're going off the reputation Vince McMahon has, but if you're going to make a statement about the XFL, I hope you do it after seeing these players give it their all in games this season. Just an honest opinion from Good Ol' J.R., Jr.

Triple H making his return at the Royal Rumble is very likely.

Sorry about the lack of content this week. This Okie is still recovering from the big party and celebrating the Sooners big win. My special steak sauce was in high demand all day Wednesday at my house.

Take care.
