JIM ROSS, JR. REPORT
September 29, 2000

This week Good Ol' J.R., Jr. is back with news, views, and opinions from under his brand new black resistol cowboy hat.

This past week was an incredible week for the WWF. Unforgiven was a great showing, RAW is WAR made its debut on TNN to great fanfare, and the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin made this an unforgettable week for Good Ol' J.R., Jr.

The reaction for Stone Cold Steve Austin at Unforgiven was incredible. I swear to you, I've never seen a reaction like in all my years of watching wrestling and that goes back quite a few years.

How about Stone Cold's new entrance music by Disturbed? They'll be performing it live this Sunday on the MTV debut of HEAT. Stone Cold himself will be there as well. You never know who else might be in the house at WWF New York for HEAT!

You gotta believe the 5.4 rating for RAW is WAR on TNN will only improve in the coming weeks. Thanks to all of you who tuned into TNN this past Monday night for the debut!

Mark Henry has made great strides in his work down at OVW. This big Texan still has about 25 lbs. to go before he'll be back on WWF television. No doubt, he'll be back in the big leagues.

Is it just me or does Chris Benoit and his claims of being "screwed" sound familiar?

The Rock signed a $5.5 million deal to star in the prequel to "The Mummy" called "The Scorpion King." Filming for the motion picture will begin after Wrestlemania. Vince McMahon will be the executive producer. From where I sit, The Rock has a lot on his hands, but he's the kind of person who can handle the pressure.

I was shocked and quite frankly, insulted when I heard my dear old daddy say that Raven "isn't even on the roster" this past Sunday at Unforgiven. I think Good Ol' J.R. should know who is and who isn't on the roster considering he heads up the Talent Relations department. And the fact that he has even reported Raven has signed in his Ross Report is even more insulting. Many fans consider J.R. to be the most credible announcer in the industry today, however, if he keeps making absurd statements, he might have to step down from his position as the lead play-by-play man. That's right, Good Ol' J.R., Jr. is indeed waiting in the wings for the opportunity at calling WWF action.

Big Show is also working hard in Ohio Valley. It's going to be a long road back for Show as he needs to lose about 80-100 lbs. If he can lose that excess weight and improve on the mental part of the game, he will be a force to reckon with in the WWF.

Can you believe the absurdity of Steven Richards and the RTC to proclaim Chyna's Playboy pictorial as pornography? The pictorial is in good taste, so I really believe the RTC is nothing but a group of hypocrites.

In my opinion, the Chris Jericho-X-Pac feud has the potential to be a classic. These two young athletes have the ability to put out great matches. It would not surprise me to see a match signed for the No Mercy Pay-Per-View.

I thought the cage match at Unforgiven and the ladder match on RAW between the Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian were excellent bouts. Both teams and their feuds are going to be looked upon in the future like the Rock 'n Roll Express and Midnight Express battles during the 80s are today.

In the bet ya' didn't see it department: The Artist Formerly Know As Vic Venom won Turner's WCW World Title this past Monday. This man may be intentionally sabotaging their company, but if he is relieved of his duties, don't expect him back in the World Wrestling Federation as nothing higher than a member of the ring crew or a janitor at WWFE headquarters. I wouldn't bet the farm on that happening though.

There will be no Jim Ross, Jr. Report next week as I will be on vacation in Florida. I hear this is the best time of the year to visit Disney, so I have that to look forward to. Maybe I'll even swing by the Florida panhandle so I can let Mick Foley get a taste of my steak sauce. I'm sure Mick will pull no punches on what he thinks of it.

Take care.

J.R., Jr.
