BLAH

THE MAT POTATO

Have I mentioned lately how much I love (slash)? I love having the opportunity to read so many excellent writers as they always give me something to think about (plus inspirations for my own columns)

Mr. T (Can he use the T? Isn't that intellectual property of Harlem Heat Inc.? Just checking) brought out a great point in his last article. He proposed a loan of talent from the WWF to ECW as a sort of good will gesture.

His point is a valid one as this is truly a win-win situation. The WWF is suffering from an embarrassment of riches right now. While this was something almost unthinkable a year ago, the WWF is in real danger of duplicating the decline and fall of the WCW.

I read Mr. T's column and was struck by the possibilities. As I said earlier, the WWF has more people than it really knows what to do with, so why not send them off the ECW where they will get some much needed exposure and experience. The ECW gets what it needs (more warm bodies).

Hey, these WWF types aren't expected to leap off balconies or wrestle garbage matches. However, even garbage matches can give them some valuable training. And as Mr. T so capably pointed out, ECW and WWF have cooperated previously.

Vince has been called a genius in various places (never by me, personally, but I have seen this idea espoused before), however there are definite signs that the gears are slipping.

An 82 year old woman, pregnant? Sorry, Vince, but you should be aware of the impossibility of it all. Yeah, she could be carrying a child, but it wouldn't be her own. Can you say menopause? Now, all together, impossible. Good. I knew you could do it.

Perhaps Vince is so wrapped up in the whole XFL experience that he is turning the reigns over to Skippy. Or his attention isn't totally focused on the product, but something has to give.

Can anybody explain the turn of the gang of 4? Yeah, it was a great swerve as the whole net was abuzz with the fact that the G.O.4 was going to feud with DX, yet here they are, joining up with them. Hmm, does this presage a return of HBK?

I know there are a lot of HBK fans out there, but please, please, PLEASE! Let him stay retired! Please?

Sorry, fans, but as far as I care, HBK and Hogan are two peas in the same pod. Yeah, at least HBK could wrestle, but his best days are behind him. Way behind him. Don't tell me that he finally "found his smile", and is now ready to come back in. I'm willing to let the situation play itself out, but the WWF really doesn't need the baggage that HBK brings with him.

Back to the G.O.4 turn. Please tell me that this isn't a replay of the whole n.W.o. debacle over in WCW. Are we doomed to have DX black and white v. DX black and red? HHH leading one faction while HBK (who may or may not come back) leading the other? Will STc be running parodies of the DX "B" team?

So, Vince, it's your turn. Time for some of those daring moves that you're noted for. Go forward with the strategic alliance with ECW. Dare to do something with DX other than have it run the n.W.o. course. Above all, remember the words of Alexis de Toucqueville.

"Those who will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
