BLAH

THE VOICE OF REASON

Okay, so I went 1 Out Of 5 for my Rumble predictions. My bad. That didn't of course, stop me from thinking that the show itself was AWESOME, with great action in all the matches save one and (finally) some direction for the storylines. And as far as the women's "match", if it means Chyna NEVER steps foot inside a wrestling ring again, then I'm all for it.

As for the Rumble surprises...Drew Carey was relatively inoffensive and handled correctly, but again, he should've bumped for Kane. Hell, if they'd done that, then he could've taken over Pete Rose's duties at WrestleMania...Honky Tonk Man was hilarious-perfectly used...I thought Big Show had LOST weight-how'd he get past Jim "Richard Simmons" Ross?...Finally, the 'fro is back where it belongs. Maybe Meng can be put to good use here-if they build him up right...

So the New Era is in full swing in WCW, it appears. Bischoff should be back in full power soon, which is either good-or bad. That depends on your point of view, I suppose. Mine, I'm afraid, is the latter. Bisch has been back at the helm of WCW before, and it went nowhere. Do you really expect a man who tried to boost his ratings by showing twenty minute sit-down interviews with himself to change his pigheaded ways? I don't.

Already the product shows signs of stinking up the joint in the near future. Everyone is raving about this "New, Elite WCW Idea" that's been put into action. NEWSFLASH: the WCW Elite are heels, necessitating them jobbing to the faces at the end of every major storyline. Also take note who's opposing the Elite-why, look! It's Nash and DDP! And the Cat! Three of Bischoff's favourite people. I guess that guarantees that Biscsh's got a hand in the booking right now.

Another point to bear in mind-if this proposed WCW Shutdown takes place in a month's time, what the Hell do all these storylines right now mean? They're just gonna be forgotten after that, left to rot in the WCW archives. Why bother with these stories at all? Why don't they just shut WCW down now and go from there?

Those of you who have read me before know that a lot of attitudes on the web really get up my nose. One such attitude bugged me this week-someone on a well-known website-someone who, quite frankly, I don't think has a place writing for such a website-had the gall to rate Nitro this week as twice as entertaining as RAW. Now this week, neither show rocked, to say the least-but Nitro displayed more stupidity than I thought possible. You know what this guy's one selling point of Nitro was? The Daniels/Modest match-yeah, the one that ended with Steiner supposedly breaking their legs. That was the ONLY thing that this guy could think of that he could praise about Nitro. It didn't matter about the ending, oh no, not at all-the site of two indy workers assembling an decent-to-good seven-minute match BEFORE the screwjob ending was enough to warrant an eight out of ten for the WHOLE SHOW. This is from a guy, who, two weeks, ago, trashed RAW for the non-finish after the excellent Angle/Austin match. Double standards, anyone?

It seems like every newcomer to the web writing world wants to carve a name for themselves by SWERVING us all. Well, here's a tip for you, slick, if you get to read this-you know who you are. You are doing yourself no favours with these ridiculous comments, you are gaining no credibility, and no-one is taking you seriously. You're a laughing stock amongst those that I know. Why can I say this? I know my place-I don't pretend that my opinion is the only way forward, I simply offer it and let people make their own minds up. I'm also a Hella lot more rational than someone like the guy above-and I don't craft my opinion around what everyone else is thinking, it's my own opinion.

Okay, with that in mind, onto my NEW weekly rating segment.

Match Of The Week: Chris Benoit Vs. Chris Jericho, Ladder Match: A superb return to the ladder matches of old, before the Tables, Ladders and Chairs (Oh My). Also, it was VERY nice to see Jericho get a win over Benoit-even if it wasn't a straight wrestling match.

Wrestler Of The Week: Kane gets the nod here-I think everyone was impressed with the big guy's performance in the Royal Rumble.

Worst Match Of The Week: Kronik Vs. Animal/Steiner from Thunder. While the show had this weeks, TV Match of the week (the cruiserweight gauntlet), it also had this steaming pile of crap-as the main event, no less. Pfft.

Promo Of The Week:I liked the heelish edge in Rocky's promo Monday night-I think they can pull of a turn, if that is the way they're headed.

That's it for me this week-sorry for the restrained tone, I'll be back to my usual obnoxious self real soon.
