BLAH

THE COMMON BOND

I'm writing this out freehand at 12:55 AM (approximately) on June 2nd, 2000.

I went to bed at around 12:30 AM after reading through the immense essays over at [slash], posts at the Oracle forum and various reports from our favorite Internet gossips.

I started to think about things that I could write about for the next [slash] column. I like to write - it's a hobby that has really started to interest me ever since I started to recap.

I started thinking about my Oracle buddies - while doing some unmentionable activities. I started to chuckle at some of the things that were said and implied.

And then, I realized that this friendship I have developed with them was something professional wrestling gave me.

I've been able to be very good friends with people due to mutual affinity for the worked sport. That initial friendship bonds even tighter when other people scoff at professional wrestling. You and your buddy defend the sport a little, which may make you two a little closer than before.

It's a very cool feeling finding a friend who has that same love for something that the majority consider a "guilty pleasure".

Vince McMahon, Vince Russo, Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman look at professional wrestling through a different pair of eyes than we do. Dollars and cents being a primary concern, of course. But they miss out one very important thing.

Professional wrestling breeds friendship.

The good friends that I've made through professional wrestling are people who possibly have changed the way I look at life. They've affected the way I see things. Without professional wrestling in my life, I wonder if I'd ever meet these people.

I miss those times nowadays. The friends I've talked to about professional wrestling and other midless clutter have temporarily (1 year? 5 years? 10 years?) left my life to pursue a collegiate lifestyle.

I sometimes think back. Back to the great conversations. The mean spirited jokes. That was bliss - yes, it was.

I am quite sure that - with the new boom in professional wrestling - more people will find friendship because of it. Hey, it's happened to me, it can sure happen to you!

This is a hearty thanks to every single person involved in professional wrestling - past or present.

Thanks for putting this worked sport out there - even if alot of it is just shit today.

Thanks for sparking the friendships of many people all over the world.

And to you reading this, thanks for reading. Emails of praise are only a click away, thankyouverymuch.
