BLAH

STICK IT

The Liner Notes:

  • Thanks to Marvellous Martian for joining the "Right Angle" campign!!! That makes two of us! TWO!!!! But, I'd like to clear up that I do not want to be like him....and if he wants to make a angle out of it I will gladly have one of my friends bust out of block of ice and hug him to death!!! Poor Yeti, no one loved him!

  • Thanks to Mr. T for calling it the Right Angle in his Smackdown Spoilers!!! This will happen! We can do this!

  • And Thanks to Jerry Root for his mention of my idea in his column.....notice the trend, it's gonna happen.

    End of The Liner Notes:

    Stick It:
The 1999 Year In Short (Short Cause I Barley Remember This Year!)

  • 1999: The Year of the Booker, we saw the major federations heads going over the talent! what bull@%$^@ what.....you think I'm going to be like Nitro?
      1. McMahon won the Rumble
      2. Bischoff pinned Flair
      3. Ferrera beat Vampiro
      4. McMahon was the WWF champ for 4 days
      5. Russo outsmarted all of WCW.......not hard to do
There were small differences however, Vince and Eric both took their beatings from the "boys" and the pay off was good (WWF) to ok (WCW). Oklahoma would be fine if he didn't wrestle! and there was never really any payoff, and Dr. Death won't be back for a month or so. Wow, that was great. NEXT

  • 1999: The Year of Pretty Good Matches
The Year of Pretty Good Matches
The Year of Pretty Godo Matches

Heh, get my point, the Year of Pretty Good Matches......Over and Over A-GAIN!

I'm mostly talking about Rock vs Foley and the Hardys vs Edge/Christian, and Austin vs Undertaker. I guess you'll notice those are all WWF fueds, WCW stuffed Sid at us and all the boring Nash-Savage crap. Hogan and Flair fought a lot in a fued that could have ended earlier had Big Orange jobbed to Flair when it would make sence and make fans happy (two things Hogan will never be guilty of doing).

This is just one of those things about the big monday shows, sure, we have exciting non-stop action (or long, non-stop interview...take your pick). They deliver big time matches that either 1. End to quickly, so they do it over and over again or 2. end quickly and spoil the PPV money value. An example would be Goldberg-Hogan from last year, that should have been last year's Starrcade main event but it wasn't! Big Show-Triple H should have been the main event at the Rumble but they ruined it Monday (the key here is build that match up for the Rumble then in late Jan-early Fed build Cactus, if they just rush out Jack, like they will do, it will mean less when he comes close to winning....but that's another whole column.)

I think a lot of people will understand what I'm trying to say....and hey, we all miss jobber matches.

  • Now, without anymore hype, here are my quick Stick It: Year End Awards as voted by me very early in the morning:

    1. Wrestler of the Year: Triple H

Yes, Benoit was personally my favorite this year, last year....so on, but Triple H really steeped it up and shut up a lot of people. Let's not forget this is the guy who was in the shadow of Shawn Michael's for song long, they just got by by doing his "Let's Get Ready to Suck It" catche pharse. Sure, he's only added a few new moves (both using his STEEL DEATH KNEE 'O DOOM!) but he's improved in the ring a little bit I think and on the mic he's now the best pure heel we have in wrestling, and isn't that something we've all been complaining about for along time. Forget the Outlaws still trying to hold on to facedom, or X-pac ......doing stuff, Triple H on his own is a great 90's style heel. Example: Him covering up BB's .......um....bb's was a great way to get a crowd of 15-30 year old men to hate you! Then again, if you want to see BB, i think simply wrestling has a pic of her popping out somewhere there........did I get off track, yes!

    Anyway, there you go.

    2. Gimmik of the Year: "Big Shot" Bob Holly

Holly ruled it in the second half of the year as the "Big Shot" and his sorta friendship with the Big Show was great for the oh three weeks that it lasted, Holly's come along way also. Here's another guy who's making people forget who he used to be because what he's doing now is so great. Hopefully, Crash will get to display the great work I think he can do and him and Bob will win the Tag Title. They are a old school tag team in the way hell......they dress alike!!!!!

    3. Match of the Year: Bret Hart vs Chris Benoit

Here's the internet's darling match, and yes, I've seen the ladder match, but I found it to have a little to many high spots and just didn't seem as smooth (still great though). Hart-Beniot, aside from the dedication in this match, was as solid a match as we're going to see in the states for a looooooong time. I'm gonna rewatch it soon and hope it's just as good a second viewing.

    4. Worst Match of the Year: Ivory vs Moolah (from No Mercy)

At least they lived up to the theme and showed the fans watching No Mercy. I know maybe I should give some sympathy just cause of Moolah's age but no, I won't. Ivory's splash to nowhere left me rolling on the floor with laughter...but i will give credit, Mae Young did take some wicked bumps....and she shouldn't be.

Those are all the awards I feel like doing, cause it's my column! HAHAHAA......err, please go read the RSPV awards cause they are great!!

Thanks for reading this week, if Y2K doesn't destory us all, I'll be back next week or so, now go be good to each other and plant a tree!
