STICK IT Stick It: Leading or Just Wanting the Glam-rock revolution? You Decide! Topic One: We Need Mail! Yes, I'm figureing I must now beg for mail. Heck the one reason wanted a column here is because I want feedback!...tons of it please. Don't make me have to start a weekly trivia question, please don't make me. Joking of course, write me if you have time, if you don't, write another one of the great columns here. It's fun, it's informative and by gosh it's almost as good as se......i wonder if i can say that here? Topic One and A Half: plug of sorts... I have a so-so video list, a ton of old old Nitro footage. If anyone is looking for anything along those lines, mail me and i'll be glad to hook ya up if i have it. Now i'll stop plugging before CRZ notices heh (too late - CRZ) Topic Two: Hey! at least we don't have to worry about the Hummer and other reasons Russo is good. On Monday, we all sat and watched the brand spanking new Nitro. And from what i've read, the net is 50/50 about it being either good or bad. I'll go with good. I won't complain about the lack of wrestling b/c Misterio/Konnan vs Harlem Heat and Sting vs Bret Hart kept me satisfied. Maybe the WWF has just taught me not to mind short matches (though Hart vs Sting was around 15 minutes) but the wrestling seemed ok. Now don't go yelling about Bret ruining Juvi vs Evan.....come on, did anyone really care about that, it was a throwaway match. Now Juvie vs Malenko or something like that I would have been mad, but Evan Koragous. I don't think so. If there's one thing Russo can do it is set up matches on air. For one thing, it lets the TV audience know what to expect and two it keeps the live crowded excitied waiting for the main event. That's good on both ends. It always comes off better on tv if the crowd is hot. And, although sometimes stupid and boring, at least Russo as more consistancy then Nash or whoever was booking Nitro! give him a few weeks to fresh up on past storylines (or lack thereof) and hang around the wrestlers and the change will be even better. Complaining about Torrie becoming Debra 2000? well....ok.....would you rather her be Alexandra York 2000? you tell me. .....really, in truth, i was a York Foundation mark. The main worry is that WCW will now become just what the WWF is, but i don't think that will happen. Why? because the WCW workers are far different then the WWF's. With workers like Godfather, Austin (who really isn't what he was in 93-95), Rock (who still IS a rookie...Alex Wright has more experience then him i think!), Roaddog, Gunn, and the like, they need these more adult gimmiks (except Val, he doesn't need one, he's just a great wrestler) to help get over a little bit. Yes, the gimmik are also to appeal to the commen everyday fans, but they have to be getting tired of it. If they aren't already they will sooner or later. My point is can you picture Benoit saying stupid catch pharses like the Rock? Or Luger? Goldberg can look like Austin but i doubt he'll chug a beer...and DDP well.....his catch pharses are already stupid =) Maybe I'm just rambling, heck, I barley know how to say what I want to. To sum it up, I liked Nitro, it was a good mix and the Fiflthy Animal heel turn was great! That's all I can say about that I think.....Flair is still the best. Love him, or hate him, you'll ne......oh, never mind. It's showtime folks. Topic 3: Random Thoughts! well, i'm all out of thoughts and topics, slow week for me I guess, thanks for dropping by, take care everyone. Peacock freelance Mail the Author |
