WEEKLY RAMBLINGS

The week just sneaks right by sometimes. Many thanks to the emails regarding last weeks entertainment (i.e. my column). Anyway, on with the festivities....

I had heard through the grapevine that Slipknot was going to be the musical guests on last week's Heat. I know of a couple of reasons why that fell through, but it's not important. Anyway, that was one of the reasons I didn't much care for the Fozzy replacement thing. Well, I suppose it wasn't really a replacement thing since not too many people knew about the Slipknot appearance.

On to Fozzy's performance. I didn't think the band was anything too special. And to be honest with you, this week I really didn't see any comments about them on the whole. Sadly, as much as I love Jericho, he doesn't have the voice. And oddly enough, he has that sort of charisma that would make you believe he'd be good fronting a band, but he didn't have it going on. Maybe it was an off night? I think the stage for in WWF NY isn't too big either, and perhaps that's why Jericho was forced to simply pace back and forth.

By the way, I loved the dig at Tazz after the performance when he was going on about getting an advance copy, and Cole mentioned it was already out. (Don't think that was planned at all -- just watch Tazz's reaction.)

The rest of the week was moderately good. Well, Raw was way above average, and I think a big part of that was Edge and Christian doing their own versions of entrance themes.

The cage match felt flat, and I'm pretty sure it was because people were either a)waiting for the mystery partner of Rikishi or b)waiting for the Rock to come out since he claimed to have Rikishi's back. Still, straightforward match and the stunner came almost out of nowhere. It ended and I was left wondering were the hell the rest of the match was.... of course that's just my opinion.

The only other problem I had with Raw was Kurt Angle getting destroyed. What did that accomplish? Either it sent a message to the fans that Angle doesn't deserve to be champ (which I wholeheartedly disagree with) or it was meant to show Angle can't get it done without Steph.

Personal observation: Steph is gorgeous even when she's sick. GORGEOUS.

Anywho... I was in Boston that night and didn't really see any superstars out and about following the show. But chances are everyone was on their way to the Smackdown tapings.

As for WCW. I just couldn't bring myself to watch. Steiner never got his belt, and Goldberg buries Kronic!? Kronic, who were the baddest tag-team in WCW a couple of months ago. See, I never liked the team, but if you're going to have former tag champs face a single person, the outcome should be pretty obvious. Let the face put up the good fight, but inevitable lose because that's what should happen.

I had the same problem with the WWF a couple of months ago when the Rock went up against tag champs Edge/Christian. Now I'm a little fuzzy on exactly who won, but I remember Rock kicking their ass and thinking "Nice way to bury the tag belts." The only message I got from that was that the Rock was more then able to carry the tag belts alone, and is it only me or does anyone else see the lunacy in that?

The one and only part I did catch of Nitro was Rection's little celebration. It was nice, and I'm sure he enjoyed himself, but at the same time I was wondering why all these people were suddenly coming to show their support. It made what could've been a very classy moment seem over dramatic. Kind of like Lex Luger's win at Summerslam over Yokozuna. Whatever.

One other quick note. I totally meant to give props to Yokozuna last week. He was truly the baddest of the WWF champs and will definitely be missed. RIP.

Onto my music minute: Guns N' Roses are finally going out on tour next year, and yours truly will totally go and check that out. I think I was the only person that actually liked the new song on the End of Days soundtrack last year.

And the weekly picks: I got the new Godsmack and Tattoo the Earth CDs this week. The Godsmack album definitely has it's moments, and a couple of killer tracks, but I can't help but miss the days when they were merely an unheard-of band touring in support of Smack This (those in the know know what I'm talking about). If you're into metal, get the Tattoo the Earth CD: live Sepultura, Slayer and Slipknot; really, how can you go wrong?

Well, looks like I'll be waiting until the next WCW PPV for a Steiner champ. You know what would've gotten me interested in WCW again? Winner and new champ, Mike Awesome. And then he trashes the 70's gimmick and is back to being a badass. When Palumbo won the belt a while ago, it was so unthinkable I was really into it.... for the 2 minutes it lasted. Have a good weekend all...
