WEEKLY RAMBLINGS

Another week, so we shall just dive right in...

I liked Raw a lot this week. There was a lot of things going on, and everything was leading to some nice buildups for Smackdown X-Treme. Kurt Angle is a GREAT champion, and I wouldn't mind him holding the strap all the way to Wrestlemania -- mostly because I like him, but also because I'm sick of listening to the "build up" to Rock vs. Austin at Wrestlemania. With a main event like that, I wouldn't be greatly inclined to buy the thing, but then again, I probably represent the minority of the wrestling population. All I'm saying is the rest of the card better be damn strong because I can't imagine people flocking to the PPV on the strength of that one match.

The signing thing was pretty predictable, but still entertaining. One thing I thought they were going to build up: Vince was saying if there was ANY confrontation after they'd signed, Austin would lose his #1 contender spot and HHH would be suspended. I knew he didn't sign when he started attacking Austin, but I thought they were going to take it further and say that since there was a confrontation and Austin had already signed, he lost his #1 contender spot, and got further screwed. That would have added more mystery to the whole thing. Still, on the whole, a very entertaining segment.

I also dig the Undertaker and Kane tandem. The only thing that threw me off was Taker's Legion of Doom-esque "Tell 'em Kane", but even that was cool. I fear if they get these guys going for a while and then break them up again in a feud, everyone will be bored with it. Instead, they should build them both up, and then have them go their separate ways without the feud.

And while we're on that storyline, I think the WWF has done a great job building up Haku so far. I think he still needs to adapt more to the WWF style, and seems a little off timing in other areas, but is doing great so far.

Over on Nitro... . I watched some of the opening hour, but apart from some nice little cruiser matches, I wasn't that impressed. I keep hearing people talk about how great wcw can be, especially with the cruiser-weight division, but... look, go over to Wrestleline... someone did a good little article about how you can't build a promotion over the cruisers, and I agree. While they're neat little matches, if I wanted some neat little matches, I'd go out and buy some Japan tapes, I wouldn't sit and support wcw for it.

The one thing that did keep me watching was Ric Flair promising this big surprise at the mid point. In fact, I flipped constantly between Nitro and Raw while Angle walked to the ring, but once I saw it was just Dustin Rhodes... well, what the hell point was there to watching any further. Who the hell cared if he signed Flair's contract, or aligned himself with Flair.

Furthermore, I find it so amusing that Net reporters and "insiders" were constantly dogging Dusty the last time he was in wcw, or ECW... only to proclaim a second coming when he shows up on Nitro after being gone for a while. Can you say hypocrite? Furthermore, can you say past prime? Furthermore, can you say it sucked? Can you tell me to shut up? And they everyone can say "if you don't like it, don't watch it." Well, I don't, so when I stop liking it and curiosity is satisfied, I stop watching. I'll just stop there.

I'm pretty psyched with Credible signing with the WWF. I'd be more excited with Rhino (as I'm a huge Rhino mark) but I can be patient if the rumors are correct. Of course, if the WWF brings Rhino in they HAVE to make him an unstoppable beast like he was in ECW. No sell everything right and left. Anyway, back to Credible. I liked his current character. The first thing I thought of when I heard he signed was that he'd come in with X-Pac as a tag team. But hopefully they'll go the singles route with him. I still think it'd be pretty cool to have Credible, Raven, and maybe Tazz for a union. Have them dominate like team Canada sort of, but the world title eludes them, and Rhino comes in as the mastermind and kicks the champs ass the first night on Raw, winning the belt and throwing everyone for a loop. The way, the WWF get s a buzz going, and people are tuning in right and left to see what happens next. Of course, you obviously have to be absolutely positive Rhino could develop a cool character real quick to keep interest, otherwise, he'd just have to be jobbed quick.

There's my fantasy for the week. One of my favorite bands are now more... however, Obituary did release an anthology last week and it totally kicks ass. Only one new track, but it's great, and the other tracks still stand the test of time. The Obituary anthology is this week's MUST HAVE album... go get it ...NOW!.

And there you have it... later
