BLAH

One video clip told the whole story.

Sid Vicious and Rick Steiner were laid out like corpses in the ring at Nitro's conclusion. Bill Goldberg towered over them in triumph.

And we now know Sid can sell!

Make no mistake about it. Goldberg is being pushed as the top babyface in WCW. You didn't see Hulk Hogan out there, did you? The pop sounded deafening from my TV set when Goldberg ran in to save Bret Hart and Chris Benoit, who were being punked out by Sid, Rick and The Wrestler Formerly Known as Lex Luger.

It was really a telling scene. Goldberg is the most over performer in WCW and what they did Monday was a good move. Hogan couldn't have drawn that much heat if it was he that ran in.

There was a hint of what loomed when Hogan cut a promo earlier with Gene Mean. The Hulkster didn't look too happy. "He didn't even tear off his shirt," said my friend Lady Diamond Cutter. "He always tears off his shirt." Hogan brushed aside Gene Mean's question about Internet rumors concerning Hogan, saying he was going to kick Sting's ass.

At the end of the segment, Hogan ordered his music cut off, saying to the guys in the back that he would have the last laugh at Halloween Havoc. Ouch. That sounded like a shoot to me. Why? Hogan is a terrible actor. Maybe Hogan was angry that he wouldn't be doing the main event run-in. As any of you following WCW know, the main event run-in is a prime role because it's a chance to be a superhero. Yeah!

I do have a couple of questions, though. What now of the Goldberg-Sid match for Havoc? Sid's "restraining order" precluded Goldberg from touching him Sid before Havoc. That's out the window. I think the match will go on with Goldberg winning by DQ. Goldberg doesn't care about the U.S. title. He wants the world title. And I don't think Sid will get jackhammered. They don't want to kill his monster heel heat. So a DQ is the best way to go.

The other question is why didn't Sid attack Hart and Benoit outside the arena? As the two faces were getting out of their car, Sid was climbing out of a taxi. Yet he acted like he didn't even know Hart and Benoit were there. That was a little sloppy. Sid took the taxi because he didn't want to have another car pulverized. Fine. But they should have had Sid arrive separately.

Overall, it was a good show. The most enjoyable thing for me was seeing Meng no sell a DDT from Konnan. That was really cool. It's good to see Meng back. He got a solid win with no Filthy Animal interference. Meng is THE BEST at no selling in WCW. I crack up when he spouts Tongan talk and waves his arms. With a clean win over Konnan, it looks like push time for Meng.

That was a nice tribute to start the show when Bobby Heenan paid tribute to the late Gorilla Monsoon. "Goodbye my friend," Heenan said. In their WWF days, Heenan and Monsoon worked like hand in glove at the announce table.

The breakup of the Revolution is proceeding nicely. Dean Malenko confronted Perry Saturn about what happened last week. Saturn said he was out to stop Shane Douglas and only attacked Rey Mysterio because he thought Rey was coming at him. "We're in this together," Saturn said.

Heenan said Malenko shouldn't trust Saturn. "There is so much ego and jealousy in this sport." Now that is true!

It wouldn't take long for Malenko find out as Saturn and Rey tangled in the first match. I think we know the point of all this. Shane ran out and was intercepted by Dean. That brought Billy Kidman, who actually entered the ring. That earned Rey an immediate DQ. I've seen it where the ref lets a lot of that stuff go. Call it referee's discretion or whatever. Dean and Shane argued after the match. Kidman issued a challenge to the Revolution for a tag match.

It deteriorated later on when Shane called out the Revolution for a pep talk. Benoit took off his shirt and quit. Malenko and Saturn decided to keep their team together for a scheduled match and left Shane standing by himself. Nice heat segment!

So it was on with Saturn and Malenko against Kidman and Rey. It started breaking down when Malenko prevented Shane from hitting Kidman. Then Saturn and Malenko started arguing. "Get your head on straight!" Shane yelled at Malenko. In the spot of the night, Malenko hit an awesome t-bone suplex that sent Kidman over the top rope!

In the end, Saturn clocked Kidman with a chain supplied by Shane, who held referee Nick Patrick so he wouldn't see it. Why didn't Patrick call for the DQ? Same reason as the earlier match involving these groups. Malenko saw the replay and stormed off, apparently quitting the Revolution. "Don't do this. Don't walk away!" Shane said.

About the only important thing that happened in the Disco Inferno-Kaz Hayashi match was the camera angle that showed two empty ringside seats sandwiched by two good looking women. Gee, I wonder who those seats were for. I'm going to take a guess. They were for the guys who were to arrive later after attending a party "down there."

When Kevin Nash and Scott Hall did arrive to yet another frenzied crowd reaction, Heenan walked over to them and proclaimed the Outsiders as the greatest tag team ever. Nash said he was still retired. Hall said his back hurts from carrying WCW. Heenan kept pressing them on when they would return. Nash's reply: July 2012. Funny! Even funnier was the scared look on Hall's face when Goldberg's music fired up.

Goldberg did the usual entrance, taunted some by Sid along the way. Nonplused, Goldberg said, "How does it feel to be afraid, Sid?" Goldberg was facing - sigh, Horace. Horace actually got a little offense before Goldberg started no selling and unloaded the usual spear, jackhammer finish. The only problem was the segment ended about 9:01, not far enough into RAW's beginning.

The bungling of Berlyn continues. The Bodyguard With No Name punked Brad Armstrong outside the arena. Berlyn babbled in German. But BA got Berlyn's walking stick and jabbed the BWNN in the stomach before security broke it up. Are they still playing Berlyn as a straight heel? Doesn't look like it to me.

In an effort to make some kind of feud for Berlyn we get another dose of BA, who has been around a long time and never been over. I think we know the reason for this match. Berlyn ran in after BA's opponent, LaParka, bumped Patrick, who took a heck of a spill over the top rope. BA fought off Berlyn but got punked by the BWNN, who also nailed LaParka. The BWNN rolled LaParka back in just as Berlyn nailed the rude awakening on BA. Armstrong fell over on top of LaParka as a recovered Patrick counted the pin. Gosh, Armstrong gets a Nitro win and Berlyn still looks bad.

Later on, though, Berlyn won cleanly over Norman Smiley as the BWNN stayed out of it for once. Now that's the way to build some heat for Berlyn. The crowd did a USA chant to support the British Smiley. Sigh.

Let's not forget the Torrie Wilson soap opera stuff. She's still dumping on David Flair, who this week got laid out by Curt Hennig and Vincent. That angered Ric Flair, who demanded a match with Hennig. He also announced we wanted DDP's wife, Kimberly. The crowd ate up for a guy who is still magic on the stick.

Flair won that match when David Flair prevented Vincent from running in.

I had to see Van Hammer on my TV set in hour number three. At least he was facing Sid. After Sid bumped the ref, Steiner came in and they spike powerbombed Hammer. The ref recovered and called the 1, 2, 3. Why on earth would Sid need help in beating Hammer? And where was Charles Robinson and his signs? This was a little puzzling.

Brian Knobbs went over Stevie Ray as the Harlem Heat-First Family feud is building nicely. For some reason, Patrick was concerned with Booker T and Hugh Morrus fighting outside the ring. That allowed Jimmy Hart to interfere and set up a win for Knobbs. Booker T and Morrus weren't even in the match. Again, referee discretion.

Did anyone notice Randy Savage and Gorgeous George in the Slim Jim ad? Let's see. Hall and Nash are working their way back. Hogan is BADLY in need of another heel turn. Could the rebirth of he nWo be far behind?

Stay tuned.
