SQUEEGEE MAN

Watch out, New York. Sid Vicious may be on his way.

During my lunch break Friday, I watched some coverage of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. There was a rain delay. When the rain stopped, several workers used squeegees to push the water off center court.

I wonder if Sid found out. I can just see it now. Sid hunts down those poor guys who were just doing their job and powerbombs them right on center court during the Andre Agassi-Yevgeny Kafelnikov match. Charles Robinson counts the pinfalls. Sid has a mic, of course, and blares out, "Don’t anyone ever steal my gimmick again!" For good measure, he powerbombs Agassi and Kafelnikov.

Sid was at it again on Thunder but that should be no surprise since there are plenty of jobbers to be squashed. The Ruler of the World had a handicap "match" against Adrian Byrd and Bobby Blaze. Is there any need to say what happened? No, but I will anyway. Sid powerbombed Byrd and pinned him. Ditto Bobby Blaze.

Later on, Dean Malenko battled Rick Steiner. This had Sid run-in written all over it because of the heat building between he and the Revolution. It didn't take long. Sid chokeslammed Malenko in full view of referee Billy Silverman, who actually saw it! It earned Rick a DQ. Shane Douglas ran in to the rescue and got spike powerbombed for his efforts. Whoa! Shane went in ahead of Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn? Now that's a switch.

Benoit was next and temporarily had Sid in the crippler crossface before Rick broke it up. Saturn came in next but the heels still held the edge. But Saturn blocked a powerbomb attempt by Sid by backdropping him over the top rope. Since Sid counts run-in powerbombs as victories, shouldn't a failed powerbomb be a loss? Well, since Sid is 6-10, 350 pounds, I'm not going to bring it up with him.

This sets up Fall Brawl. I've read some rumors that Sid will take the U.S. title off Benoit. Again, I'll say that is a bad idea. Sid doesn't need that belt to be over. He already is. On the other hand, it helps Benoit stay over. I really think the only solution is a Steiner run-in to get a DQ for Sid. The rest of the Revolution could get involved in the post-match schmozz. They could even turn Douglas and have him join Sid and Rick. That just might get Douglas over. And it would continue a feud that has drawn some nice heat for the Revolution.

A few other predictions:

Hogan-Sting

I'll have to say this. They are doing a good job of keeping the suspense going with the hummer angle. I think Hogan keeps the belt via DQ with lots of people getting involved. It could go many different directions. Luger could turn. One thing that could work would be "framing" Sting as the hummer driver by using Jeff Farmer. That could lead to the reformation of the New World Order. It would keep Nash a heel, Sting a face and open the door for Scott Hall to come back. Now, that would make me happy! Hey yo!

Goldberg-Diamond Dallas Page

DDP puts Goldberg over despite Triad interference.

Barry Windham/Kendall Windham-Harlem Heat

Booker T and Stevie Ray reclaim the world tag team titles, beating a team that is nowhere close to being over. Perhaps Bischoff has Sid powerbomb Thunder booker Mike Graham?

Rick Steiner-Saturn

Saturn by DQ after a Sid run-in, pretty much like the Steiner-Malenko match on Thunder.

Buff Bagwell-Berlyn

Berlyn pins Bagwell with some chicanery involving his entourage. They built the reincarnation of Alex Wright so much, ruling out him doing a job. The punishment of Bagwell continues.

Eddie Guerrero, Kidman and Rey Mysterio -ICP

Big schmozz. Vampiro pins Kidman following a juvi driver. Throw in a ref bump. Kidman's attempt to leave WCW recently earns him jobber duty here.

Brian Knobbs/Hugh Morrus-Shane Douglas/Dean Malenko

Who cares? Douglas with the perfectbuster on one of the bad guys after Jimmy Hart's botched interference.
