IF I BOOKED THE WWF

As everybody knows, Russo and Ferrara have defected to WCW. Everything was already in place for No Mercy, so Survivor Series will really be the first PPV of the new writing team. In honor of this, I figured McMahon might like some help in determining who should win, and whose storylines should be progressed into the yet-unnamed December PPV. So, out of the goodness of my heart, I am putting in my two cents to talk about what kind of card I want to see for the event, which I have decided to name "Oh Hell Yeah".

WWF Title: Austin (c) vs. Rock

Sorry, but I'm tired of seeing Triple H as the heel champ. For quite some time, the main event storyline has tended to be one in which the champion is somehow the underdog (unless it's Austin). The writers have not been able to keep a wrestler over once he wins the belt. Triple H is the most blatant example. In my opinion, he was not ready for his title reign. They tried to put him over as a bad ass who was going to take what he felt was rightfully his. Unfortunately, they forgot to have him do bad ass things along the way. It wasn't until his first title that his persona finally started to develop. It's already become stale, however, and it shows in the way he has started to revert back to whining. I'm okay with Triple H as a whining heel, but not with the #1 belt around his waist.

The focus right now is not even on Triple H anyway, but on Steve Austin and the Rock. The way I see it, Austin wins at Survivor Series, setting up a one-on-one confrontation in December. This should be the last match between these two until WrestleMania. This also should be the match in which Austin turns heel. The timing would be perfect, since it gives Austin the chance to reign as the heel champion. It also gives the Rock the chance to get over like never before, first by winning the Royal Rumble, then as a thorn in Austin's side for two months. At WrestleMania, Rocky pins Austin clean, and enjoys a lengthy term as the true People's Champion.

Triple H vs. Chyna

Anybody notice that these two aren't seen together anymore? Anybody wonder why this hasn't been made a part of the storyline? I have. It's not too late, you know. They can still make excuses as to why it hasn't been explained yet. After all, Chyna had her hands full with Jeff Jarrett, and Triple H has been fending off not just one, but two challengers to his belt. If you ask me (and even if you don't), they are primed and ready to make the split official and start feuding. Chyna's face pops are currently as big (if not bigger) than Triple H's heel heat. Up until now, the fans have just accepted their enigmatic union. But if a wedge was somehow shoved into the relationship, I think everyone would love to see the shit hit the fan. Start things off early, with Chyna turning on Triple H just before Survivor Series. Triple H then retaliates by interfering in Chyna's IC defense against Chris Jericho. Chyna loses the belt, and decides to get revenge on her former partner. Now that Chyna's established herself as a woman who can beat the men, this feud can work. It's not too late!

IC Title: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Val Venis

Okay, it's a little obvious that the WWF writers want desperately to put Val Venis over. It does make some sense, too. After all, the guy does have an IC win to his credit. But what has he done since then? Next to nothing, that's what. If they really want to make Val a credible main eventer, he needs to have another IC title reign first. Otherwise, the fans won't buy it. Now, just look at the possibilities with this feud. Jericho's sense of humor and Val's gimmick. It's a match made in mid-card heaven. There's only so far that they can go with it, though, so I see it continuing only into the Royal Rumble, where Val will hopefully be over enough to take the title, and get himself into the upper echelon by SummerSlam 2000.

Tag Team Titles: The Hardy Boyz (c) vs. Supply and Demand

Matt and Jeff recently won $100,000 and the official rights to Terri's massive nipples. Mark Henry endured a ratings-killing series of sex therapy sessions, to be finally saved by the Godfather. (Note to WWF: "sex therapy" is helping someone have better sex, not helping someone stop having sex. In fact, you could say that the Godfather was the only real sex therapist of the bunch.) Again, this is a matchup that speaks for itself, given each tag team's current situation. I'd like to see the Hardy Boyz holding the belts by this point as well, beating the Hollys at Survivor Series.

Hardcore and Crash Holly vs. New Age Outlaws

This is really a foregone conclusion, as this storyline is already in the works. I'm going to go out on a limb, though, and say that I think the Hollys should win. They always talk about how they're super heavyweights, and yet they're fighting the Outlaws? And it's not even for the tag titles? If they lose this match, I think it'll kill their heat. They'll be jobbing on Jakked the next week, just you wait. Plus, the Outlaws gimmick is wearing on me. I popped when they reunited, but what they really need to do is reinvent themselves. Maybe they could bring in whoever it was that got them back together. In fact, I don't see why it couldn't be Kane, trying to buddy up to the NAO so that he could be in good with X-Pac again. I'm just throwing out one possibility. There's a lot of things that could be done, if only somebody would put some energy into it.

Notice I've left some people out: Mankind, British Bulldog, Test, etc. As far as Mick goes, I would love to see him in a high profile storyline, but if the Rock and Triple H are both involved in other stuff, who is he going to feud with? Test and Bulldog are certainly going to face off at Survivor Series, but does it really look like it's going to go anywhere after that? Not unless the writers get their asses in gear and come up with something to progress the wedding angle. Believe it or not, it isn't over for the WWF yet. Russo and Ferrara created enough opportunities that if the new group just sits down and tries to come up with some meaningful and logical storylines, they can pull off something great and continue to dominate well into the year 2000. I can't wait to see what happens.
