Well here we are. In less than three weeks the juggernaut that is Wrestlemania 2000(Or 16 for those keeping score at home) will roll through the pond and into to the homes of all those with 34.95 to spare. I write this because I can't wait for the the big one this year, but more on that in a minute. There are some things I need to get out of the way.

First off. In my little tirade on WCW last month(Anyone actually remember?) I mistakenly stated that Gregory Peck said "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this any more!". It was in fact the late Peter Finch who delivered the great line. Hell, Peck wasn't even in Network. The error haunts me to this day.

Second: An enormous THANK YOU to all who took the time to send comments. The amount of positive feedback was amazing to little old me. So thanks a bunch to all because...

Now I can say "Back by popular(sort of) demand! Whoo-Hoo!

So about Wrestlemania: Right now is an amazing time for the WWF. They have the strongest talent roster in Wrestling. They are pulling in massive amounts of viewers every week. Vince and the boys have put together an overall company dynamic that allows for a staggering number of feuds and alliances. There seems to be no end to the possibilities(And trust me, I'm usually a pessimist)

As of the March 13th RAW The Rock is set against Triple H for the main event. Vince is back. Show is finally looking good thanks to Shane. Jericho and Angle have a true money feud going on. Too Cool and Rikishi are monster over. So are Christian, Edge, and Terri's breasts from the sound of it. Tazz is getting steady T.V. time. The Dudley's dropped Mae Young off the entrance ramp and through a table(She deserved it for the "hand" sketch. In fact I would say all involved do, start stacking those tables boys). Malenko just won the light heavyweight title. Lita is hot. Hell even Blackman is over! There is more, but you get the idea.

So here comes Wrestlemania...

It's exciting, very very exciting.

Obscure movie reference aside it really is a great time to be a fan. Mark or smart it doesn't matter, there's something for everyone this year. Personally I haven't been this pumped for a WM since #7 and Hogan vs. Slaughter(What? I was 9) Yes I will admit that the main event definitely has a "been there, done that" feel, but HHH and Rock can really go when motivated. Plus the Rock is so over it is insane (Anyone else notice that all of three people clapped when Austin was mentioned on RAW last week?) I'm assuming the bookers will play this right and not only bill the match as the end of The Rock's quest for the title, but as the climax of a brutal two year feud.

The undercard has yet to be totally filled out, but it's just a matter of choosing who goes. Essa Rios, The Radicals, D'Lo, X-Pac, Kane, Jackie, Rikishi, Funaki(Hey it could happen), Test, The Big Show, Sahne, and pick anyone from the tag division. There are so many ways to work it. There doesn't even need to be the trademark celeb appearances, although I'm sure there will be. There can be ECW levels of bell to bell time. The suspense of what will go down is half the fun! All the pieces are falling into place.

(Now for a compleat digression. Has anyone else noticed The Rock is slowly adding moves. He still punches too damn much but now he uses the side Russian legsweep more. It was a couple months ago that he added the spinebuster, before that was the DDT and Samoan drop. Up next is most likely a suplex variation, possibly belly to back If this pattern continues Rocky should have a compleat technical arsenal by 2005 when he finally adds the diving headbutt.)

If I sound over enthused it is because I remember the last two Wrestlemanias. Maybe I didn't enjoy 14 because I was still getting re-acquainted with wrestling in general. It just seemed that the show lacked any spark until the main event. Then I was tricked into ordering 15.

The ultimate achievement in Vince Russo's tenure of style over substance booking. The show flat out sucked. This is the flagship show and we get Bossman/Undertaker, a two minute tag title match, and Pete Rose in a chicken suit. Once again no spark 'till the main event. Personally I thought ICP's Stranglemania 2( A definite must see for all Japanese Deathmatch fans) had more of a "Raging Climax"

So after two years of mediocrity and crap it looks as if the big one will deliver. I'm sure some of you are saying that I'm setting myself up to be disappointed. That may be, but just look at the WWF right now. In all reality it would be hard for this show NOT to be good. The only problem I foresee are is an act of God placing a tag team of Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff behind the book. But I don't think he hates us. So will it be a good show? Yes. A great show? Probably. The best Wrestlemania ever? I don't know, but the potential is there. So let's all keep our fingers crossed.
