BRASS KNUCKLES WRESTLING

WWF

Mick Foley is an amazing guy. Here's a guy who's not in good physical shape. He has a huge gut. He has a big bushy beard and and uncombed hair. Unlike everyone else in wrestling he's not trying to convince everyone that he's cool. He does lots of self defacing humor. The Rock has "millions and millions of fans" but Mick says he has "dozens and dozens of fans". He's not even a great technical wrestler. There's no high flying, no chain wrestling, no one will ever confuse him for Chris Benoit. This guy goes so totally against the grain and yet he's incredibly popular . Wrestling needs more guys like Mick Foley who aren't carbon copies of everyone else. I for one, intend to buy his book and watch his feud with the rock closely. Ironically, the Rock has been acting like the heel here but Mick will end up having to turn....I was watching the Big Show vs. Jim Ross interview and I was immediately struck with how huge Paul Wight's hands are. My God, he could palm a watermelon. His hand could cover JR's face from forehead to chin....I gotta admit I'm such a non Curtis Hughes fan. I don't like anything about him. However when Jericho "gave him Finkle" and Hughes was digging it and going great I laughed! I thought it was hilarious! I am actually interested to see what happens in the next Curtis Hughes segment. Then they blew it and put finkle with the Acolytes. I can't imagine what they're going to do with Curtis Hughes. He can't wrestle, can't talk, has no fan support, etc. It boggles my mind they even signed him.....Ms. Kitty really isn't that hot. I mean she isn't ugly but she sure doesn't blow me away. She also doesn't wrestle. I gotta say I'm not that impressed with her.....Mae Young vs. The Fabulous Moolah for the Women's World Championship. I am now officially in WWF wrestling Hell. Honestly I laughed my @ss off during that match because it has to of been the worst match in history. Every move was in slow motion, sloppy, and poorly executed. The crowd was totally not into it except for mild pops when they did the DX crotch chops. There was even some booing. I don't know why they came up with this angle or why they've continued it but it is ridiculously bad...

WCW

Jeff Jarrett is apparently jumping to WCW. Quite frankly that's a puzzling move on a number of fronts. Jeff Jarret is pulling some nice cheap heel heat but otherwise his stay in the WWF has been pretty lackluster. He's always needed to have a woman with him (until this angle which can't go on forever) to draw any kind of reaction. Furthermore the WWF has been very good to him. They've put him in major angles and have given him the intercontinental title for a long stretch even though he hasn't shown that he deserves it heat wise. Plus his last run in WCW was pretty much a wash out. So why does WCW (who are cost cutting) want him back and why does Jeff Jarret want to leave the WWF? It's all puzzling...I didn't watch Thunder on Thursday (Smackdown instead of course) but everyone is saying that Kevin Nash was absolutely hilarious doing his commentary...I'm hearing that WCW is planning to let Vampiro and Hak go over salary issues. I heard that Vampiro is only making 300k and they want him to take a cut. I just don't understand dropping two guys like this. Especially when you Vampiro was getting a nice push not too long ago and was getting a nice reaction from the crowd before they basically yanked him off TV without explanation....Yes making Sting a heel was a great idea. He comes out to a huge face pop to make a speech ripping Brett Hart (who's supposed to be a monster babyface?) . It's supposed to elicit boos but gets a mixed response with mostly cheers. Then Sting gets a huge face pop as he leaves. Yes, he's quite the heel...I actually changed the channel when the Godfather vs. Visceria match came on and it was evening gown match time (= Madusa lost but got stripped down to basically what she wears to the ring anyway. Hehehe......Next is Sting vs. Brett Hart, Hell Yes I'll hang around for that....then Nitro lost me with Norman Smiley vs. Horace........Ya know I like the Disco Inferno but I really hate that they would allow him to squash Vampiro like that....Evening gown matches, blaring music, short matches, cruiserweights being treated like non-factors, for good or bad welcome to the Vince Russo era of WCW!!!...

ECW

These guys put on such a great show Friday although I missed the first little blow up with the Impact Players and Cris Candido....The Dreamer vs. Steve Corino segment was good but dispointing in some respects. Early on they fought thru the crowd and you could see almost nothing. Fights in the crowd are not something I really mark out for to begin with. Also, ECW unlike WCW and the WWF doesn't have 5 million cameras so they had to try to view the whole thing from a really bad angle. You could see almost nothing. Then even worse, Tommy Dreamer took what was probably an incredibly sick bump from off the top of the bleachers in the crowd but we didn't get to see any of it. I liked the match and the ending but it was disapointing that the camera work was so bad.....I just love looking at Dawn Marie. Her character is much sexier than Sable was if you ask me...I'm also hearing that Rob Van Damm and Raven still aren't under contract. I just can't fathom that. I hear the WWF is getting ready to snap up ms. Congeniality too. That's another person who's not under contract. What would ECW do if they grabbed these guys up so soon after losing the Dudley Boyz and Taz? Maybe their situation is just too financially tenuous to feel comfortable signing these people but they really better sign them or they are going to lose them eventually.Take Rob Van Damm. Loyal to Heyman? Sure, but maybe Heyman jobs him out for his TV title and they have a fight. The WWF offers him another 100k more to come to him. No contract? Maybe he splits. They have to get contracts signed and now!.....I hear things are starting to get ugly between TNN and ECW. They were expecting ECW to pull 2.0 ratings and they're pulling a 0.8 average. On the other hand ECW complains that TNN won't promote the show and that if TNN would give them the money to advertise on Nitro or Raw then they could pull much higher ratings (which is probably true). Now TNN is apparently constantly fighting with ECW over content. I also heard TNN is complaining because they're playing non-country music on the show (like TNN is actually delivering any of the audience to ECW). Well all they had to do is look at some tapes of what ECW was going to do and they shouldn't be surprised. It wouldn't suprise me to see ECW and TNN split up over the next few months despite the fact that ECW has the highest ranked show on TNN
