BLAH

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

Cool column as usual. sorry michaelangelo isn't writing. I always liked his stuff. I read several wrestling web sites but hadn't heard half those rumors. Can you do a regular column rounding up news from other sources?
- Clyde Ford

Hm.

OK.

I'm CyanIndigo, and let's give it a whirl. I'm always prowling around the websites of wrestling for new stuff and little tidbits to consider upon, so why not share what I find with the rest of the [slash] wrestling crowd? A bit of a change.

If you gentlemen like it, let me know. Address is at the bottom.

And the only thing I'll reveal about the missing painter is the reason why on occasion he needs a good knock on the head. He spouted it forth months ago, and I dug it up just for fun:

Direct Michaelangelo quote:

I LIKE IT: Jeff Jarrett using the term "slap nut." Ha! It just rolls off the tongue.

Not around for the brains, my friends, not for the brains.

Poor pinata.

By the way, keep in mind, people, that these are rumours, and not even my own rumours. I take them from the various sites I visit, and bunch'em all together in this little column of mine. I lay no claim to them; I just find the ones that I find interesting and share them with you. Saves you a little time.

I'll present you with a rumour, and then afterwards, give my own thoughts and analysis on it, if I have any. If you want just the rumours, you've got them. If you want the fun truth, keep going.

THE RUMOURS I'VE FOUND

Dave Meltzer reports that the tentative main event for Summerslam next month will be either a triple threat match featuring The Rock, Chris Benoit and Triple H, or a four way match with Kane thrown into the mix. Early speculation also suggests a Fatal Fourway at Summerslam, which may involve Edge and Christian, The Dudleys, The Hardys, and Test and Albert. The Acolytes and Lo Down may replace any of these teams.

Chyna has said in Sports Illustrated earlier this month that she spends her free time with her boyfriend Triple H. That was a recent interview; Triple H and Chyna are trying to reconcile their relationship recently. If rumors are to be believed, a future reunion with Triple H may be in her future.

The Undertaker was pleased with the finish of his main event match-up last night at Fully Loaded. The fan reaction to the final few minutes of his match was overwhelming. Look for the Undertaker/Kurt Angle feud to carry on for the next few weeks.

Trish Stratus is expected to break away from T&A in the next few weeks to manage Val Venis.

WWF Officials are said to be very pleased with the crowd reactions and performances of both Lita and Trish Stratus. Both Trish Status and Stephanie are now learning more about wrestling moves and are slightly training. We may see Trish and Stephanie working together in the near future while feuding with Lita.

Rena Mero is sending out feelers to the WWF. The likelihood of anything happening from it is slim to null.

As a direct stipulation from Monday night RAW, the Godfather after losing his match against Bull Buchanan is no longer "allowed" to pimp hoes. There was speculation earlier this month that the WWF wanted to tweak his character a little and start referring to his hoes as "girls" instead and throw two or three permanent ladies as his valets instead of having different hoes accompany him on each stop in the WWF tour

The WWF may split up Too Cool sometime down the road so that both men can achieve other goals. Also the WWF may decide to split Road Dogg and X Pac up in the near future as they are not getting over as a tag team.

Speculated card for this year's SUMMERSLAM

~The Rock vs. Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Chris Jericho ~Undertaker vs. The Big Show ~Kane vs. Kurt Angle ~Rikishi vs. Tazz ~Perry Saturn vs. Eddie Guerrero

Shamrock would be returning to the WWF when he decided to. The WWF is currently in no rush to bring Shamrock back. Shamrock is expected to return before the end of the year, but more than likely, not before Early October.

Dave Scherer reports that Kevin Nash will be responding to Bill Goldberg's "shoot" interview on WCW Monday Nitro. Do not forget, the interview with Bill Goldberg was not scripted.

The woman always with Kiwi is a now red-headed Kathy Dingman, who was B.B. in the WWF until recently getting released, and will probably go under the name Papaya

Many problems lurked backstage last night at Nitro according to Zach Arnold including Goldberg and Russo fighting about the script all the way up until the last minute. Seems like Goldberg is unhappy with every script, everyweek. There were also some leadership problems with nobody stepping up and Russo isolating himself in his office all night.

Hulk Hogan, along with Eric Bischoff will be taking over head booking for the WCW Thunder shows. This will leave Vince Russo in charge of WCW Monday Nitro.

THE RUMOURS I BELIEVE

With SummerSlam quickly approaching, the WWF will be looking to have one hell of a main event. So, while I hate Triple Threats with a passion, and will be personally and wholely disappointed if one comes to pass, I have to admit that to most, The Rock vs. HHH vs. Benoit could be interesting.

On paper. Triple Threats don't work, and I'll tell you why. Consistantly, there is always one guy who's left out and doing nothing. If you're going for excitement, each member of the match has to be going and going strong throughout the entire thing. I've always thought that. A Fatal Fourway, while hard to keep track of, is far better because each man can pair up with another, not to mention have multiple combinations which create interest.

Does this make sense? Hope so.

The WWF would be fucking morons to let Rena Mero back into the ranks.

The Godfather is losing the gimmick, the character, the everything. I can't say I'll miss him. Although I'm sure mulitple others will miss the variety of girls each week.

I hate Goldberg.

I hate him. I can't even express how much I've grown to despise this man over the past year or so.

The idea that he's bitching and fighting about script ideas and angles doesn't surprise me a bit. The thing that I wish I could knock into his head is that he's not drawing viewers, his heel turn was a flop thanks to his insistance to never truly go all out as a heel.

The thing I wonder is how he can expect to be a face when his trouble-making is widely known, not to mention his ego is out of control. He's not as big as he thinks he is, and that's a problem in both storylines and backstage politics.

Take a look at that idea that the Goldberg interview shot on NITRO was actually a shoot. Now, I don't know about that, just because I can't understand the logic of having Goldberg denounce his heel character and talk about how much he wants to be a good-guy face, and being allowed to with no problems. NITRO couldn't be that stupid.

Could they?

Bottom line is: if it was a shoot, then Goldberg has just ruined his heel character completely. Brilliant as usual, WCW.

Using that blantent rip-off of SNL and David Spade's one shot complementary character to Chris Kattan's Mango (aka Kiwi)..... using THAT on Nitro is beyond my comprehension. So is having a woman named Papaya, although I've heard that Kathy Digman was in fact released, and Paisely might be taking her place.

George, Papaya, Paisely, Midnight, Madusa, Tygress, Ms. Hancock. Oy.

I don't believe the rumour that Hogan will be taking over scripting reins for THUNDER. I severely, severely doubt it. Hogan is notorious for being complained about, too much influence behind the scenes. I can't see anyone thinking that it would be a good decision to give him power over storylines again.

I don't believe that Trish Stratus will break away from T & A anytime soon, purely because Test and Albert depend a hell of a lot on Trish to give them heat and attention. If they take away Trish, the WWF can bet that Test and Albert will not last.

I don't believe that HHH and Chyna will have an on-camera reunion. While they might be together in real life, neither has acknowledged the other for quite some time. Both have completley separate angles, and no mention of their past or connection has been mentioned at all. I'll admit, I loved HHH and Chyna as a team. But Stephanie MacMahon and HHH are an ultimate heel couple, which is something I think Chyna and HHH had trouble accomplishing.

AND FINALLY ........ LETTERS FOR ME! YAY!

Well, only two I feel like sharing this week.

1) Nice column this week. I think you covered just about everything. A couple of points for you: First, check out Raven's situation. I believe it has nothing to do with ECW. I think his release from WCW is the big factor. He signed a specific "no WWF" clause for certain number of years after his release. I think that is what he's waiting on. Second, I agree with you about Benoit. Although I would love to see him as the champ(i hate the rock, he's a one trick pony, no skills in the ring), the rock is going to beat Benoit with a little help from a former fan favorite. Take a look at the promotional stuff. The dice just happen to land on "Snake-Eyes"? Then the WWF releases a statement saying that Stone Cold will definitely not be at the PPV. I smell something, and it ain't what the rock is cooking, either. I don't know how they'll get it done, but I look for Austin to have a hand in the final match. That way, Benoit keeps his heat with the rock and a possible future confrontation with Austin. Just a thought. Should be a very good PPV. Later. - JMeyers

This is a response from the column I wrote last week. While I can't say for sure that Raven's contract problems stem from the clause he signed in WCW (which is something I'd forgotten about) I do know that something would have been said about it by now by someone, maybe even Raven himself, and the focus wouldn't be on Paul Heyman like it is.

2)Chris Benoit as the champ - that might just be the remedy WCW needs to start gaining back some ratings. - TONYDX1068

Um.

Er.

Time to go.

This is CyanIndigo, stealing a CTD phrase and saying:

Til next time: If people can run around like chickens with their heads cut off, does that mean chickens run around like people with their heads cut off?
