BLAH

Well, I finally decided to sit my lazy ass down and write the column that I emailed CRZ about writing almost a week ago. This is the first column I have ever written for ANYONE, so bear with me. I've got a main topic I would like to address, but I will also throw my two cents in about a shit-load of other stuff.

Before I start, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm 16 and from Pennsylvania. The main things I do on this piece of shit Compaq "I don't deserve to lick the sweat off of other computers' balls" Presario is hack (check out my page at http://come.to/2600pa and read any and all articles about wrestling. Enough bullshit - onto the column.

Once I'm done with this, please direct all your hate mail (cause I know there's gotta be SOME - hehe) to hackenigma@hotmail.com.

The first thing I'd like to address is going to be my focus for the majority of this column. I know that most people are bias toward the WWF and basically think that WCW sucks. Well, to be quite honest, I am one of those people. But what I'm about to write is going to be in defense of WCW, but pro-WWF. How can that be, you ask? I HAVE NO IDEA. I guess we'll both find out as I write and you read.

As of late, everyone has been jumping on WCW's (mainly Eric Bischoff's) ass about the ratings they've been getting. Now the main reason I can see why people claim to have an argument about this is because WCW refuses to push the younger athletes and they insist on keeping the older ones in the spotlight. This is a very valid complaint. What gets me is one simple thing: Absolutely NO ONE was complaining about the age of the stars in WCW two years ago when they were kicking Raw's ass in the ratings. So why is everyone running their collective mouths now? Simple. People are trying to find something to blame the success and complete dominance of the World Wrestling Federation over Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling on.

What people don't seem to get, and I think it should be pretty clear, is that it's not that WCW is doing worse as much as it is the WWF has just vastly improved. Look on any newsboard on any wrestling website and I guarantee you'll find at least 10 postings with people bashing WCW, saying how it sucks and how bad it's become. But compare WCW now to the WCW days of old. You have the older generation of superstars maineventing (with the exception of a few athletes - Sting, who's getting up there himself, and Goldberg mainly) and you have the younger athletes in the opening bouts and midcarding. That's how it's almost always been and (unless Bischoff writes himself into the storylines for a few chairshots to the head) it'll always be.

If you really want to whine about something WCW's doing wrong, then whine not about how they're getting worse, but about how they're staying the same. WCW absolutely refuses to put any effort into bettering its product to even attempt to catch up to the WWF.

And speaking of the WWF, kudos to them. The WWF working hard to give the fans what they want is what put them on top. Not WCW's lack of doing that same thing. The only person Vince McMahon has to thank for the ratings his shows have been getting is Vince McMahon. The man deserves all the credit he gets and even all the credit he doesn't get. Vince is a revolutionary. I think his son Shane said it best on Raw when he told everyone that without Vince McMahon there would be no Undertaker, no Stone Cold Steve Austin, no Shawn Michaels, no HHH, and most importantly, no WCW.

So the next time you get to urge to take a cheap shot at WCW, don't take credit away from what Vince has done to make it sound like he's only on top now because of what WCW is doing wrong. Vince McMahon is on top now because of what Vince McMahon is doing RIGHT.

Wow. Somehow I've managed to do it. I've defended WCW, yet praised the WWF all in the same column. I'll be damned. But aren't you glad it's over? Heh. Me too. But now it's time to throw my opinion in about a few things.

Where's Shawn?

Anyone else been wondering where Shawn Michaels' been? He is, without a doubt, my favorite wrestler in ANY federation. It's a damn shame he has to retire due to that back injury. It'd still be nice to have him around for those ring interviews that only he can do. Alas, guess we'll have to just keep hoping...

The whole Kane & X-Pac thing

Am I the only one that marks out everytime Kane comes in and saves "little buddy" X-Pac? I may be a guy, but it still gives me that "warm, fuzzy feeling" to know that the big evil, demented brother of the Lord of Darkness himself can have a heart. I even have my wallpaper set with the picture of X-Pac hugging Kane on that Raw when Kane chokeslammed the Undertaker. Bah, I guess I'm just a sap...

Chris Jericho

I'm not even gonna go there. I'm so freakin' sick about hearing about Jericho. I agree that when he comes in, it'll be cool, but can't we wait for it to happen to enjoy that feeling?

David Flair

I'm not gonna go crazy on him like everyone else does, but I'm just curious - If they wanted to push Flair, and they insisted on giving him a belt, couldn't it have been the TV Title? It's not like that belt matters anyway. The US Title could be put to SO much better use right now. Ah, shit...but who am I to go against the bookers of WCW?

That all for me for today. Hopefully if CRZ likes this, I'll be back next week. Thanks for reading and "Have a nice day!"
