BIG ED'S RANDOM RANTS

It's time, once again, for another installment of Big Ed's Random Rants.

I know, I know. The masses are wondering "where the hell has Big Ed been"? Actually, in all fairness, the masses probably haven't missed me a bit, since I've only written two of these "random rants" before. My lovelife has taken top priority in the last couple of months, but now that it's settled down a bit, I can do a few of these in my spare time.

Now, on with the rants!!

If I were WCW, I would release Scott Hall ASAP. What's keeping him from no-showing the PPV this Sunday? What's keeping him from botching the ending to the match if he does show? Scott Hall is easily becoming the most unpredictable individual in wrestling today. One never knows if he will be anywhere close to "normal" from day to day, and his penchant for no-showing, feigning "bad" injuries, and heavy drinking is not good for a company in enough trouble as it is. My solution - the SuperBrawl three-way main event, even though it's not very marketable, could be just as good with or without Hall. Now's the time to put the strap on Jarrett, so Hall's performance in the match is irrelevant anyway. Send him home. I'm sure Hall could care less what happens, so long as the booze is readily available wherever he is. So let him go home and drink. At least he's out of WCW's hair when he's not even on the card. It's a helluva lot easier to book a card around people who you know will deliver, rather than rely on someone who may not even show.

As for Jarrett as World champ, I'm still not too keen on the idea. He's "right on the verge" of World title material, but he still shows some signs of mid-card ability. But then again, Sid Vicious makes Jeff Jarrett look like the Rock or Shawn Michaels . . . . so all hail Jarrett as the next WCW champ.

Hurry back Bret, I'd love to see some Jarrett/Hart World title matches in the near future. Assuming Jarrett gets the strap from Sid, that is.

Raw is War was great Monday night, even in its 11pm slot. Kudos to the Rock for putting Benoit over in their match - it didn't hurt the Rock's rep one bit, and furthered Benoit up the ladder toward main-eventing in the near future. A Rock/Austin/Benoit three-way at SummerSlam in August, presuming Austin is ready by then, would be awesome.

"Hell in the Cell Sunday" is inching ever so closer. No Way Out, from top to bottom, could deliver another knockout performance for the WWF. Am I the only one hoping for another heart-stopping Mick Foley performance on the 27th? I'd say that's the hope of every wrestling fan. But please Mick, be careful. Take what precautions you have to to insure you don't spend your retirement in a wheelchair. But please Mick, do it one more time for us. On that hot night in Pittsburgh almost two years ago, you etched memories into the minds of wrestling fans that will never be forgotten. An encore performance would be fantastic.

I'm digging Kurt Angle. He's quickly become one of my favorite WWF stars. And with some polished mic work, a little more ring time, and the right storylines, he'll be ready to take that next step.

From all accounts, Thunder is gonna bite a big one tonight. But what else do I expect from WCW, who somehow finds new and innovative ways to suck every week?

Finally, get rid of that god-awful WWF Intercontinental title belt - not the title, but the belt itself. Jericho holding the IC strap is great, but I just envision him with the old IC belt around his waist - the one Savage, Hart, Austin, and even Honky Tonk Man held for many years. I've seen better looking indy belts than Jericho's IC belt. The old-style tag belts are still used (although modified with the new WWF logo), and the World belt is pretty cool. But the current IC belt is horrid.

Back next week with more rants - and remember, if you can't be good, then be good at it.
