BIG ED'S RANDOM RANTS

Hello fellow wrestling fans!!!

After reading several of these "random" postings on the rantsylvania.com web site - some very, very well articulated, and some . . . well . . . slaughter the English language - I decided to post my own weekly "Random Rants." My rants will cover all feds, all aspects, the good and the bad, and yes, even the ugly.

And speaking of ugly, that brings me to my first rant . . .

Will someone please inform me as to who felt it necessary to give Rhonda Singh a fairly prominent role on Nitro, and then, in turn, NOT make a half-hearted attempt to negotiate with Torrie Wilson? Let's see . . . a fat, out-of-shape, elephant-boy-ugly former Bertha Faye, or a beautiful, blond-haired, big-breasted piece of eye candy. Hmmm, doesn't seem too hard for me to figure out, but someone apparently didn't have a clue.

OK, New Age Outlaws. I'm gonna spell it out for you, so please listen up. H - E - E - L - S. That spells "heels," which last time I checked, was what you were supposed to be. Instead, though, you seem pretty content to pander to the fans and attempt to remain babyfaces, while everyone else in DX is working fairly hard to be heels. Choose a side and stick with it, please. The intelligent wrestling fans know what's going on. The casual fans may be confused and think otherwise.

Al Snow was fantastic on RAW, IMODO. His promo with Mankind was, in and of itself, enough to give him the heat he needs for true "heeldom" - but add in the fact that he'll be feuding with two of the most popular men in the fed, and he's already upped his worth much higher than expected. Al's had it in him for years to "break through" to the upper echelon, and it's great that he's finally getting his time in the spotlight.

Taz is coming. The arena-filling orange tells us so. Let's just hope the bite is as cool as the bark is so far.

Bret and Goldberg get the tag straps on Thunder this week. It's called "Austin/Undertaker vs. Kane/Mankind - Fully Loaded" from last year. Giving the tag titles to the two participants in a major world title match right before their big match to cause more chaos. Boy, originality is running rampant in the WCW camp right now!! In a sick way, I was kinda digging Creative Control with the tag titles, it seemed that at least they would enjoy a semi-lengthy title reign, but now the straps are on two guys who absolutely don't need them to make their match any stronger. What a f'n concept!!

But on a positive "Thunder" note, it's great to see that the show this week marks the end of crap like Jerry Flynn vs. Van Hammer on Thunder, and instead will attempt to focus on characters that matter.

Please, PLEASE get the WWF title off of The Big Show. And NO, that doesn't mean giving it to Ray "Check out my double-wide" Traylor, either. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Am I the only one looking forward to Benoit/Hall on the ladder at Starrcade? OK, Russo, we beg of you - don't screw this one up, it's got as much potential as any "Big Two" match has this year. With the exclusion of Norman Smiley matches, of course! (Just kidding, no mail for that one please!!)

Finally, an early WrestleMania prediction - Austin helps Rock defeat HHH for the WWF title. Austin won't be wrestling for obvious medical reasons, but you can rest assured Vince'll try to have him there. Seems kinda obvious, but we'll see . . . .

Thanks for reading - I'd appreciate any comments (good OR bad, I expect there are already some marks who think I'm a moron, so bring it on!) Back with more next week . . . .
