BLAH

AND NOT MARKING OUT

So, WCW finally got sold.

So What?

Siegel sold it to Eric Bischoff.

Um, So What?

Eric Bischoff said blah blah blah about so and so and so and thinks such and such and such.

SO WHAT??!!??

Am I the only person on the Internet who could give a rat's ass about any of this news?!? I'm flipping back and forth between the Torch and [slash], reading all the talk and speculation and press conference reviews and I finally come to the conclusion that I really don't care. Nothing will change. I take that back, a lot will change, but I don't know if I believe that Bischoff can right the ship that is WCW. I loved the NWO angle and all, but all he really did was take a couple of great ex-WWF Superstars and use them to give heat to an entire roster. Now, that's no small feat, but as history and the eventual decline showed everyone, it's also not the never-ending, life-sustaining panacea either. It all just reeks of the same old guy blowing smoke up the same people's asses. Arrgggh. With that in mind, I offer

10 Reasons I Think NOTHING WILL CHANGE (in no particular order)

1. WCW is a mess. That is an understatement. Top to bottom they have no structure, no leader, and no vision. They have no bottom line person to whom everyone is accountable. Oops, they do now and that man is Eric Bischoff. You'll remember that he did such a wonderful job the first time around with his ego stroking policies and pocket-fattening, workrate-decreasing negotiating that he was brought back to do it all again. Yaaaahhh.

2. WCW's production is piss-poor. Let's face it, WCW does not look as good as the WWF. It looks only slightly better than ECW. And ECW usually comes across as a better product because it has better angles and better wrestling. Production is important, as I'm sure old Easy-E knows. When RAW sucks, it's still easier on the eyes than NITRO. When NITRO is good (and contrary to popular belief, this does occasionally happen), it still looks like a second-rate show. I'm sure Bischoff will change this, I'm sure it won't be enough to matter in the short term. Appearance is a lot, but it's not everything. An apple can look red and delicious, but be rotten to the core.

3. What great idea has Bischoff had since the NWO? What creative gems has he offered since? Wait, there was the WolfPac and the LWO and the Warrior and OWN and... (I think I've made my point)

4. Great talent that is currently being misused >coughLancecoughStormcoughAwesomecoughHughMorriscough< has been so devalued in the eyes of fans, that it may take a long time for them to be properly built back up to the point where they can draw the kind of heat and money that we all know they can.

5. Hogan will be involved. >yikes<

6. Hogan might be a booker. >cringe<

7. Hogan will be on my Television screen. >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO<

8. Young, promising stars like Mike Sanders, the Thrillers, and 3 Count will either disappear from our television screens in favor of DDP, Buff Bagwell, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash or will be discredited by inept booking used to satisfy the egos of the aforementioned. This booking will make them look weak and or small. Then they won't draw. Then, their pushes will stall. Or end. The speculated reason will be that they were/are perceived as threats to the status quo. This massive destruction of young promising talent will become known as, "The Hogan Effect." Let's not forget that monster rub he gave to Billy Kidman.

9. Established stars such as Booker, Sting, Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett will also become damaged goods as they too are booked improperly because they are also seen as threats to Bischoff's boys.

10. Bringing back the fans will take time that Bischoff may not have. WCW is now in the hands of an investment group that will want to increase the value of the company as quickly as possible and sell it again for a huge profit. The pressure will be on. Will Bischoff have the time to bring back the causal or semi-hardcore WCW fans that have been totally turned off by the last 12 to 18 months of television. I don't know. I'm betting not.

Of course, I could be wrong. Bischoff could succeed. After all he has me and you and the entire Internet community buzzing over this whole story. And that's a start. One piece of advice to Mr. Bischoff:

"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."

Get it?

Got it?

Good.

I'm Out.
