CHEAP SHOTS The existence of sites that allow ANYONE to publish their own writing is truly a double edged sword. On the one hand, well, ANYONE can publish their own writing. People who aren't employed by one of the big federations or one of the big sites. People who don't necessarily have enough knowledge of HTML to build their own sites. People who have something to say and need only a forum in which to say it. Sad thing is, most of them suck. Their ideas are often stupid, but that's a chance taken when reading just about any editorial column. However, the stupid ideas of, say, Our Mr. Zimmerman himself are quite easier to digest because of the way they are presented. IE, he can write pretty well and, occasionally, he comes up with something funny to say. Most reader-submitted columns are inspired but lack any sort of punch because they're written, um, not very well. And, really, how often is it when something is submitted that hasn't been written before and better? Not often, I'd wager. I know Steve Schroeder has written a better critique of bad wrestling writing before, so I'm not blameless, but I'd like to think I am so we will just leave it at that. Ahem. So, here we are, a prospective new columnist at [slash]. Well, new columnists are nothing new, as both Rantsylvania and [slash] have introduced dozens of new, shall we say, participants since their respective inceptions. And, honestly, most of those people couldn't write an interesting pseudo-thesis on similarities between the nWo and the Heenan Family if offered a large sum of money to do so. (Still, though, they all write considerably better and have consistently more interesting ideas that the utter, unmitigated tripe that is produced over at Scoops and, quite frankly, Carrie Messantonia can lick the sweat out of Hogan's armpit because she's an overblown, uninteresting, so-called "insider" who bores me to tears until I remember how much I hate her and then, oh, then I'm simply consumed by unpleasant ideas.) Ahem, ahem. I will hopefully be submitting a new column weekly and, at this point, I have no clue what format I will use, if any. As if anyone cares, really. I do realize how insignificant my thoughts are when imagined in relation to the number of people who read this site. I do realize that I am of little interest to anyone as I have yet to produce anything of merit, or anything at all. But I will, I think. Eventually.
