NOTE TO BOB

Legit Heat

If you're an online wrestling fan then it's likely you know who Bob Ryder is. You may know of Bob and his wrestling website and his affiliation with WCW. You may know of him dating back to his days moderating Prodigy's wrestling chatrooms. You may even know of him through WCW's live audio show, WCW Live.

If you don't know Bob, let me fill you in on the highlights.

Bob Ryder was a trailblazer in the world of "online wrestling news". His online work, whether it be on his website or at Prodigy, informed thousands of people on a daily basis. Heck, Bob can probably be attributed for enhancing the popularity of pro wrestling in general since the internet is widely attributed to being a factor that brought wrestling back from near extinction.

That's what Bob Ryder has meant to the business.

For whatever reason in recent weeks Ryder has taken a different direction in his online work. Recently it would seem that Bob is more dedicated to waging online wars with other webmasters, than he is to improving his site and his craft.

This brings me to a question. Why? Why would a man that makes his living off of wrestling take shots at "JohnnyComeLately3:16's" newsboard?

Sure, thre area lot of "bad" wrestling websites out there. Just like there are tons of bad websites out there relating to every topic imaginable. Sure, there are a lot of rumors, half truths, innuendo, and plain old fiction out there. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the internet.

However Bob doesn't see it this way. A 16 year old kid decides to bash Bob on his site that gets 100 daily hits and Bob responds by bashing the entire "wrestling webpage community" on his site that gets thousands of daily hits.

Talk about using a sledgehammer as a flyswatter.

Rather than classifying the wrestling internet community as hacks, liars, and teenagers (his site excluded), Bob could use the time more wisely directed at his own work on and off of his website. However, that's not the way it's going to be. No, instead we'll continue to have Bob put himself and his site over by downgrading the people he considers competition.

But here's a thought. Stop going to those sites Bob, if they're so horrible. Stop wasting your businesses time on piddly feuds with "teenagers". Stop bashing those of us that are legitimate by grouping us with those that are not.

In other words, grow up and be the bigger man here. Online feuds really aren't becoming Bob. You're a trailblazer, that much I'll give you. However the trail always leads somwhere, but it's up to you to define where.

The penthouse or the outhouse?

Bob, it's up to you.
