HART PROMOTES "WRESTLING WITH SHADOWS" IN THE UK

Bret Hart appeared on the UK show "The Big Breakfast" on Thursday morning to promote the premiere of "Wrestling with Shadows" this weekend on BBC2. In a respectful interview, he was quizzed about what happened in Montreal, to which he broke kayfabe to some extent, inmplying that the ending was not what had been expected. However, when pressed outright, he insisted that the answers to such questions were to be found in the film. No mention was made of Owen or his death, with a touching gesture by the show of displaying a photo of Bret in a chinlock from Owen prominently displayed on set.

When the discussion turned to Vince McMahon, Hart labelled him a "legendary slimeball", and said that recently, McMahon had integrated the element of being a "crooked, wicked promoter" into his on-screen 'schtick', but that, in reality, he *was a crooked, wicked promoter. I don't know about the States or Canada, but in the UK, saying that sort of thing on television is would, I thought, count as being defamatory (i.e. libellous)? He also boasted of breaking his hand in two places due to the force with which he punched Vince out after the PPV, all the while wearing an ear-to-ear grin, which did not sit well with me: surely Bret should be seen to be more serious when talking about someone that he will face in court somewhere down the line concerning a 'suit dealing with the death of his own brother?
