REBECCA'S RANT

Hey All! What to say, what to say...with less than a week to WM...the WM card is not even the big news, instead it's the official end of the Monday Night Wars...the end of an era...The McMahon's now own WCW.

I don't think I have ever looked forward to wrestling as much as I did last night. Me and my good buddy Jen were just freaking out, counting down the hours to Nitro to see what would happen...and man we weren't disappointed. When Nitro started with Vince standing in front of the traditional RAW set it was like some twisted dream. Jen and I just kept looking at each other in shock, pinching our arms to make sure we were awake. To say we marked out for 3 straight hours would be an accurate description. What went down on the two shows was some of the most compelling television I have ever seen. As much as I hate Vince McMahon it was fascinating to watch his ego explode on television, as he pushed his "Mr. McMahon" character to new heights of evil and treachery. But the most fascinating part for me was picking out what was real and what was just part of the script. To be honest, I think most of what he said was completely legit...his real feelings. And to me it was just mesmerizing to watch...and finally when No Chance hit again and it was Shane walking down with the cocky swagger, but younger and hipper than his dad's, walking down to stake the McMahon claim on their new territory all I kept thinking was this is the last thing I ever expected to see. But man this is some good shit!

What else to say...there is so much more...but I cannot adequately put it into words except to say this is a very exciting time to be a wrestling fan...and I can't wait to see what happens from here.

A few words on Nitro before I start talking about WM...Nitro was amazing last night. I know the matches were shortened, but it was just amazing fore me to see such a major effort by everyone on the roster. It was great to see Booker T get to hold the two major belts after his match...and kudos to a very injured Scott Steiner for jobbing to him in a clean fashion. The three way dance between the Yung Dragon, Filthy Animals and Three Count was simply amazing....3 minutes or not...that was 3 minutes of some of the best action around. You could tell they were working their asses off out there, working for their jobs...and I think the McMahon's would be idiots to let any of those guys go...esp. Rey...you can say what you want about his size, but the man is a phenom in the ring...I hope they keep him. Good action between Team Canada and O'Haire and Palumbo too...all in all some great wrestling.

I have not yet watched the Sting/Flair match and I'll be honest with you...since I never really watched WCW much this isn't going to have the impact on me that it would have on some other people. But still as someone who has an appreciation for wrestling history, I can understand the significance of this match, and appreciate it. I am looking forward to see what Ric Flair's spot in the new WCW will be but one thing is for sure...he will have one.

Now onto Wrestlemania - Heather, Jen and hopefully Tom will be joining me for this year's festivities, so I intend on making it quite a party. The whole giant feel of this year's WM seems to warrant it. Where as the last two years WM seemed like just another PPV this one seems bigger for some reason. So I am excited to be watching it with a bunch of real wrestling fans who are also some of the biggest marks I know...myself included of course. Because like I always say if you're not a mark, why be a wrestling fan at all?

This year's WM looks to be a mixed bag...you have the gimmick battle royale, which should be at least fun, and hopefully short. I certainly don't expect any kind of great wrestling out of this one. I think it is odd that they included this kind of match, but it also makes sense since they seem to really want to honor tradition and history this year...and what better way than to include some well known names from the past. Personally, I think the Sarge is going to take it all. I bet he is excited as hell to be part of yet another WM in the ring.

Raw started off with Angle and Benoit exchanging insults in what I refer to as Rebecca's dream exchange, as they set up their much anticipated contest at WM. These two guys are two of my all time favorites, and knowing what they are capable of in the ring, and having seen a couple of their matches first hand, I have a feeling this is going to be the match of the night. Benoit is finally getting some face reactions...and the pop he gets for the crossface or as Angle refers to it..."that stupid crossface thingy" is really solid. I know I sound like a broken record already but Angle is so amazing on the stick...I mean his promos just get better and better each week...and his backstage stuff...hilarious. I love when he was trying to explain to Edge and Christian how he wasn't tapping out he was just reaching for the ropes...Whatever Angle...so funny...and his exchange with Rhyno...so funny...To be honest, I have no earthly idea who is going to come out on top here, but I am hoping they give them 15-20 minutes and they tear the damn house down.

Mick is Back!!!! WOW...what a pop for the commish in exile...there is something so lovable about Mick it is unbelievable. I know I said I really didn't miss him because I thought Regal was doing such a good job...and that is true in terms of the commish job...but in terms of Mick's special brand of wit...and his great promos and the way he works a crowd...there is no one like him. Welcome back Mick and I can't wait to see you get a few cheap shots in on Vince during the street fight. My predictions for this match...easy...after an insane and bloody fight, Shane and Mick beat Vince to a bloody pulp, leaving his limp carcass on the floor for his suddenly revived wife Linda to kick!!!! I know I sound sick...but I want to see Vince get his...and I think that's what everyone wants to see...and you know Vince...he always sends his fans home happy...not...but in this case I think he will...I also fully expect Trish to turn on Vince as well...at least I hope so...because I cannot sit through another display like the one on Nitro and Raw this week...simply disgusting. The cool thing is this match has a whole new dimension with the whole WCW/WWF thing going on...I half expect Flair to be there to be in Shane's corner...who knows...could happen...

RTC vs. Tazz and APA- HOLY SHIT- TAZZ ACTUALLY HAD A MATCH ON RAW AND WON IT!!!!! Will wonders ever cease...well I know it wasn't the best match ever...in fact it was pretty bad, but hell it was a victory for Tazz...on RAW....so I'll take it ok...now as far as their match at WM...I am glad that the WWF is looking to put as many people as possible on the card, but this definitely seems a little out of place. Still gotta give kudos to the way the WWF has had TAZZ jump on Steven from his announcer position and throw him in the Tazzmission. Good stuff. So I think this would be a good opener...have Tazz and APA come out and simply destroy RTC...I mean squish them like bugs...leading to the disbanding of the group...I think this is where it is headed...and a good old fashioned squash is something we haven't seen in a while...so that would be fun.

Ivory vs. Chyna- the set up of this match...or lack of set up has just been weird. We saw one appearance from Chyna...just one...and to be honest...no one cares about her fake injury angle...not even me and I am a big Chyna fan. So I am less than thrilled with this match...esp. since I think Ivory is a great Women's champ and should be feuding with Lita, Jackie and Molly for the women's title...not Chyna. So Chyna wins the belt...then what...she takes Molly under her wing and hands it over to her...that would work...I guess...I have no idea...and quite frankly I couldn't care less...so I say Chyna wins after destroying Ivory...probably disrobing her at one point to...to appeal to the pervert factor...in a hopefully short as hell match.

Big Show vs. Kane vs. Raven: I find it hilarious that Raven was thrown into this match with both of these giant men...however I also find it very exciting that Raven has actually been stalking Kane and going after him undaunted by fear. At least Raven can work and will save this match from the total disaster it was going to become because of the Big Show. Between Kane and Raven they should be able to pull together some good spots, esp. if they let Paul Heyman book it. I think that Kane and Big Show are going to battle it out and Raven will somehow squeak out with the victory. He is the best suited to hold the Hardcore belt...but I also assume that there will be a lot of run-ins...whoever doesn't have a spot on the WM card should make an appearance in this one. Oh joy...that means Billy Gunn and maybe Xpuke and Justin...as long as they don't put my Jerry Lynn with X-factor I will be happy.

Speaking of Jerry Lynn...I have heard rumors that they are going to put him with the Hardys...to which I start jumping up and down in joyful glee. Jerry Lynn will be great for the Boyz in so many ways. He can help them with psychology...because after all he is the master...and if the WWF saw fit...he can turn the Boyz heel. I love dark Jerry that started emerging at the end of the ECW stint...now he can lead the boyz to the darkside and steal Lita away also....so many possibilities. I heard he might be debuting at Smackdown...and I hope and pray that he does...I miss him, and his awesome style of wrestling...

Which brings me to the TLC II match. I kind of agree with something I read earlier today...this does scream of lazy booking on the WWF's part...and like what started happening with the Hell in a Cell...one too many matches and the "special" feel of the match starts to fade...but still I know these guys will pull out some amazing spots...I just hope they all stay relatively safe...and things go as planned. I was hoping that the rumor that Rhyno/Spike and Jerry being involved would come to fruition...and I am not counting it out yet...but can you imagine what these three guys can add to a match like this. First off you have Spike "I do bumps that make Jeff Hardy look like a pussy" Dudley...then you have Jerry who is not afraid to take insane ass bumps or do some incredible aerial offense...and then you have Rhyno who likes to gore people through different pieces of furniture...they could definitely add a lot to give it a completely different dynamic than the Summerslam match. Who knows what will happen...I am just hoping for a safe match that all six men are still proud of...by the way...I pick the Dudleys retaining the titles here. The titles have been switched around too often recently, so I think they will retain.

HHH vs. the Undertaker: This rivalry came out of nowhere...but for some reason it is very compelling to me. Undertaker has been delivering some of the best promos of his life in my opinion...he has totally settled into his bad ass biker character and his promos completely reflect that...and damn he did some blade job last week on Smackdown...I loved how he ran to the ring, handcuffed to protect his brother...(I know Sharon is now saying...be honest...you just loved him in handcuffs...its true...its true) But watching the way HHH has stalked him has been highly entertaining for me...but like I said...who knows what kind of match it will be...hopefully a good one...I think that Undertaker still has some good matches in him...and WM is his time...he is undefeated isn't he? I think his undefeated streak will end though as he jobs to HHH...at least I hope that is what happens. Did I just say that?

Jericho vs. Regal: I almost forgot about this match...with Jericho dressing as Doink and everything...what kind of wrestling fan am I? I have really liked the way this rivalry has progressed...and watching Doink put Regal in the Walls of Jericho was just good clean fun...I have a very strong feeling that this will be a very solid wrestling contest...old school style...and I think Jericho will come out on top...or maybe it will be Regal...after using some underhanded means...oh who knows...I suck at predictions anyway...

Last but not least of course is the Main Event...Austin vs. the Rock...I really wish Debra was not a part of this match. Every time I see her out there I feel like it is an insult to my intelligence. Maybe if she did one thing managerial it would make a difference...but what the hell has she done? Not a damn thing...Ok, Debra aside...I like the intensity between these two guys...although its nothing compared to the intensity between HHH and Austin...and I can't help but compare since that was the last big rivalry Austin was in...Anyway, no use complaining...what's done is done...the two biggest names are going to go head to head...and I will watch to see what happens...I am rooting for Austin in this one...obviously...and I think he will definitely come out ahead...

Of course we have some other factors...like HBK...we still have no idea where he is going to insert himself in this whole mess...should be interesting to see though because it will probably give us an insight into what kind of program he will be getting into after WM...

I am also excited to hear Paul Heyman doing color for the Big Event...its his first PPV event for the WWF...and he is starting with the biggest...somehow I think he will be up to the task...

To Sharon: My thoughts are so with you over the next two weeks girl...I hope you have the greatest time ever...you deserve it. Enjoy watching WM with Martin...we will miss you immensely...but we are so happy for you too...You better take care of my woman, Martin...but I know you will...

Enjoy Wrestlemania everyone...see you next week!!!
