REBECCA'S RANT

Hey All! I know I've been absent the past two weeks, and I really don't have a good excuse. I can say I've been uninspired...and that would be partially true. I have also been writing some other things, so I have been busy. My last excuse is that Sharon and I were going to post a part II of our Year end column, so I have been waiting on that, but it has yet to come to fruition...so I have decided to get off my lazy ass and write a column on my own.

First off, I want to point everyone in the direction of The Voice of Reason, the excellent column by Redman. I was on the phone with Sharon last night, complaining about HHH and all the people who have been screwed over because of his ego and she told me to check out this column. So I highly suggest you take a look at it because he was able to perfectly articulate all the things that have been floating around in my head about HHH. In fact, I got a pretty angry email from Robert Nerenberg, who I have conversed with before, about my picking Kurt Angle as my wrestler of the year. He was horrified by my choice and basically said I was crazy for not putting HHH up there as the best of 2000. The more I thought about what he said, the more I stand by my choice of Kurt as my pick for best of 2000. No person had the year that Kurt had, and no he wasn't in as many high profile matches as HHH, but he still made a giant name for himself this year, and I know this will just continue in 2001. So all hail King Kurt!!!

I just have to comment on how much I loved his match against Austin from Raw this week. I thought it was fantastic. How many damn suplexes did he hit on Austin, a million... The crowd was hot as hell for it as well, and I was freaking out too. Way to go Kurt, looking like the total bad ass that he is. Kurt never ceases to amaze me. His in-ring skills are amazing, his interviews/promos are quickly becoming my favorites, and now that he has shed some of his goofiness for some more bad assness, there is no stopping him. Like most people I was pissed off as hell that HHH came in and interfered in that great match between Angle and Austin. Well, let me amend that, I wasn't pissed off that he interfered as much as I was pissed off that there wasn't a winner. After the caliber of match Angle put on, he should have been the winner, even if it was by screwjob. Think about it, Angle gets the pin because of Hunter, and Austin is more pissed off, because he got pinned. It works for everyone...oh yeah, but I forgot, Angle's name isn't Regal, so Austin won't lay down for him...and HHH obviously wanted the spot light for himself. Don't get me wrong the confrontation between HHH and Austin was intense as hell and super exciting (by the way CRZ, I thought your recap of this part of RAW was so fantastic...I think you truly captured the tension of the moment perfectly!), but where was Angle, did he just slink off to the back. I was ecstatic to see Angle was able to recapture some of the spot light with his excellent interview on Smackdown. I loved him calmly chastising HHH for going after Austin on his time. I for one am excited about their match at the Rumble actually, because perhaps we are going to get some kind of more satisfying blow off to this once smoldering feud. The addition of Trish in Angle's corner is super interesting as well, as how does her alliance with Angle fit in with her "affair"...gag...vomit...gag...vomit...with Vince McMahon. This is my preliminary theory. I think that Kurt and Trish are in cahoots, and Trish is using her sexuality to distract Vince from his task of getting the belt back around Hunter's waist...Just my opinion. Open Note to anyone at the WWF: Please stop showing those scenes between Trish and Vince, they don't' serve any purpose other than getting people physically ill...I've already heard of at least a dozen cases of impotence after viewing Smackdown, and I had to stare extra hard at Christian, Benoit and Jericho to start my hormones up again. Please stop the madness!!!!

Ok, something else to get off my chest...just when I'm starting not to hate Austin so much, he has to pull the kind of shit that made me hate him in the first place. We are not even 30 seconds into a very promising six man tag match between the Duds, Jericho vs. Christian and Edge and Benoit when the glass breaks and Austin storms the ring...I was so pissed off, I almost threw something at the tv. Luckily Jen was there to calm me down before I went berserk. I certainly did not need to hear Austin and McMahon's little exchange at this point in the show, esp. since it was cut by a half hour anyway to make room for that highly annoying cartoon show. I guess a couple weeks before the Rumble I couldn't expect any kind of clean win from any of these teams, but still...more than 30 seconds would have been nice...

One good thing...well two good things did come out of this supposed match...one was the hilarious pose from Christian and Edge...classic...and the other was the awesome exchange between Benoit and Jericho setting up a **drool*** Ladder Match between these two at the Rumble. I am telling you right now this match alone would get me to buy the PPV...this is just going to be awesome as hell and I for one can't wait. Something special happens each time these two get in the ring together and I am sure this will be no exception. So far the three announced matches and the Rumble itself make this a not to be missed PPV in my opinion. Although I do feel sorry for Christian and Edge having to somehow come up with something that will equal the amazing table match from last year's Rumble between the Duds and the Hardys...

What about my favorite brothers...what's going on with them. They have been in this great feud with the Radicalz...highlighted by the amazing as hell Matt Hardy vs. Chris Benoit match that had me salivating a couple of weeks back. I was so impressed with this match, I have never seen Matt Hardy look so sharp. He brought his "A" game to the ring, and gave the Crippler one hell of a match. I wish it could have gone on longer, but damn it was awesome for what it was...Kudos to both guys for putting on the match of the night...Anyway, now Dean is hurt and out indefinitely needing surgery, so where does this leave this whole storyline with Lita...and where does this leave the Hardys...

I have to say that whole shower thing with Lita was horrible, not because she was almost naked in the shower, I have no problem with that, hell although I wish it was Matt instead...but poor Dean he just looked like a total creep spying on her like that. The only good thing that came out of that was the Hardys looking like badasses, trying to cripple Dean by attacking his knee. Still, wish they would do more vignettes with the Hardys showing more of their personalities...it is getting ridiculous already. If they are not comfortable doing live stuff yet, then let them cut pre-taped vignettes instead...something. No instead they are back feuding with RTC again...another story line that was just left totally up in the air, and teaming up with the most boring man on TV...Billy "the One...inch penis" Gunn. God this guy sucks. I swear when I read that some people actually thought he looked good in the lumberjack match on RAW my jaw dropped to the floor. What the hell match were these people watching. When I watch Gunn in the ring, I swear its like I am watching a match in slow motion...he is so sluggish and horrible. The thing is I love Lumberjack matches too...but this was just horrible...and Val can work...he might not be the most exciting guy in the ring, but he is still a solid worker and hell he couldn't get any kind of decent match out of the One...inch penis...I still stick by my guns...send this guy to Ohio to rot with the Big Show and Mark Henry...I certainly won't miss him...and his blank expression...and his inability to cut a promo. People talk about Jeff Hardy, hell I'd rather listen to Jeff talk any day over him....

Ok, enough about him...speaking of cutting promos though...I am ecstatic to see Raven getting more mic time...I love the Raven Effect...and that little fake Raven on the front of his shopping cart is so damn hilarious to me...and now it appears that they are putting him with someone...who can it be...at least they are trying something new with him which makes me happy. It would be nice if maybe they could follow up on it a little though...you know not do something and then drop it for a week...wrestling fans don't have long memories...you need to push this stuff....but either way at least they are giving him the stick and letting him do what he does best...talk...

Not much else to say but here are a few random thoughts:

Aren't Christian and Edge's Stacker 2 commercials the coolest...

Is Chyna really going for the women's belt when she gets back?

What's up with the Hardys Chef Boyardee Commercial?

Where is Shane McMahon...I miss him...

When was the last time the Rock had a real angle?

What was Pat Patterson doing in the Rock's dressing room?

Just a quick congrats to Teddy Long and "Cartwheel" Jack Doan for making it into a real wrestling match as actual competitors!!

Kudos to William Regal for doing that crazy stunt off the front of the limo himself...

Where is Tazz? Oh yeah he fought Raven on Heat and since then he's been MIA.

Austin vs. Rock for WM 17 can we say...yawn...is this really what everyone wants to see...I guess so...

Ok, that's it, just a short column for me this week, seeing as its Friday and I'm here in the office by myself...I think I am going to send this off and go home early. Have a great weekend...till next time...
