REBECCA'S RANT

Hey All! I have tons to talk about this week, and I really don't know where to begin...first off, I want to say that I have heard rumors...I don't know if they are true or not that Sharon...my best friend is going to return this week with a column. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I have started to go through withdrawal. Of course we still talk to each other everyday about these things, but it's not the same as reading all her thoughts together in one column. So if she writes we will see how much she has been paying attention to what was going on, because I have it on high authority that a certain adorable Englishman has been causing quite a distraction lately...so that is why she didn't see that Edge had braids in his hair...just kidding...that she definitely noticed...even I have to admit he looked adorable...and I don't even like Edge that much... Ok, while on the subject of Sharon, I have to say that the other day she actually said to me that she was starting to think Chris Benoit was...attractive...yes she said it...the same man who she has always made fun of is suddenly a hottie in her eyes...well I have one thing to say to her...HAVE YOU BEEN BLIND GIRL!!! Anyway...I had to embarrass her...I'm just in that kind of mood...

So just so you don't think all I care about is how cute these guys are...because if you have been reading my column you know that's not what it's all about for me...(shut up Lewis...I know what your thinking!!) I want to tell you about my adventures going to see the Indy shows last week...then I want to talk about the ECW PPV which took place in my old stomping ground...NYC...and then of course talk about the WWF PPV which is already coming up this week...

Onto the Rants...

Last Thursday I actually taped Smackdown and went into Raleigh...our wonderful state capitol to see a Southern Championship wrestling show. I had never seen an indy show before and I must say I really enjoyed myself. Those guys go out there and bust their asses...most of them working pretty stiff in a very hard ring...just for the love of what they do...I mean they ain't getting paid much...The bar was packed and smoky...the crowd loud and obnoxious...it was great. Even though I had never seen these guys before, it was very easy to get into it. The highlight for me was seeing C.W. Anderson in the Main Event. The guy is just impressive as hell live...a true professional and a hell of a worker. Other highlights...this 400 lb guy almost fell on me while dragging his opponent up the aisle and to the bar...where he promptly got a black light bulb broken over his head...crazy stuff...when they came back through, they grabbed the chair that was right next to me and smashed each other over the head with it...there was blood all over it...I'm glad I didn't get any on my clothes. There was this guy named Lazarus...he wears Sting type makeup but comes out to Britney Spears singing and dancing, wearing very effeminate clothes...his end move is the Britney Spear...he was really entertaining...and really good. There was this one guy who just worshipped Jeff Hardy...you could tell, he had his hair done up in Rainbow colors, and he wore the Jeff Hardy cross necklace. He did some pretty cool high flying moves. Another guy who really impressed me was Dewey Cheatem...(I don't' know if I am spelling his name right) he was C.W.'s tag partner in the Main Event. He is a little guy but damn he was good as hell. All in all I really enjoyed myself and then I had the Omega reunion to look forward to the next day.

(by the way...B.C. if your reading this...it was cool as hell to meet you at the shows...always great to talk wrestling with someone who feels like I do about it....great job as the heel commissioner too...Paul E would be proud!)

So Heather came into town the next day to accompany me to the Omega reunion...and after getting lost along the way, we ended up in Southern Pines, NC...at the National Guard Armory. We went inside to purchase tickets and the first person who I see when I look into the room is Steve Corino. The thing is I really like the Old School Hero...and I was super excited he was going to be there...Heather and I went in and grabbed first row seats...so we had a great view. The promoter comes out and tells us that Omega is starting up again and that tonight would just be the beginning...he then introduces us to Cham Pain who was the Omega Champion when the promotion ended the last time...he talks about vacating the title and doing a tournament to crown the new champ...Corino comes out saying he wants the title shot. Corino was in fine heel form. He was whiny and bitchy and perfect. I was loving it. They ended up putting his ECW title against the Omega title...in a title for title match....the Main Event was set...

Unfortunately there were some problems throughout the show...halfway through there sound system blew up...so we were without music or miked intro's for all the big names who were in the upper part of the card. Also the crowd was sort of lame...not really getting into any of the wrestling which was quite sad to me...but either way I still enjoyed myself. The whole lower card were omega trained guys showing their stuff...the opening contest was really solid with two young guys putting on quite a good show...Some of the SCW guys from the night before were there and looked really good out there as well. However the second part of the show was what I was really waiting for. The first match after intermission was the best...it was C.W. Anderson vs. Lodi...man this was a solid as hell contest...and my favorite match of the night. Next up was 2Count...Shannon Moore and Shane Helms vs. Joey Mathews and Christian York. The whole night the ECW guys were the monster heels...and this was no exception. 2 Count were the most over guys out there and they put on a good match. The only problem was the ending which saw the ECW guys turn on their heel manager for no apparent reason and join together with 2 Count ending the match in a no contest. I was going to scream Bullshit...but there were young children in attendance. Corino vs. Cham Pain was good, but Cham Pain seemed to be having a bit of an off night...however he did take a monster bump being pushed backwards by Corino while standing on the top rope and falling through a table...I was impressed. So of course Corino leaves with the two belts, after pinning Cham Pain with the help of C.W. Good to see the ECW guys sticking together. The Security guard who was sitting near us got to hold the ECW belt during his match so I got to see it up close...very cool. Also at intermission I got to go and talk to Corino, which was a personal thrill. I told him I loved the match between him and Jerry Lynn when Lynn wrote Die in Corino's blood on his own chest. Corino looked at me like I was out of my mind and told me that he really didn't like that match all that much. He was nice enough to still take a picture with me despite the fact that I seemed to have annoyed him for some reason. I didn't mean too...honest. Anyway, after the show we grabbed some pictures with Shane and Shannon too...both of them seemed like really sweat guys. They were impressive live too...esp. Shannon Moore.

Anyway, that is my little Omega report. I will definitely be going to more Indy Shows in the future. The next one is at this bar called King's in Raleigh...it's an SCW show and it will be on Jan. 25. Should be fun.

Man, I am already running long...so I will give my brief thoughts on the ECW PPV...

Best Match of the Night: Tajiri and Mikey vs. Kid Kash and Super Crazy. This match up was so damn great. Two great teams...great spots, great match. Tajiri and Mikey are such a great team...they have great chemistry together, and it was great to see the Sinister Minister back from his horrible injury. Pairing up Kid Kash and Super Crazy was a really good idea as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this contest, as I enjoy practically every match with Tajiri. Happy they got the win too. The move of the night was the top rope 'rana by Kash which took Mikey off the top rope through a table on the floor...damn that had to hurt.

Worst match of the night: Rhino vs. Spike Dudley. As much as I enjoyed seeing Spike back, and as much as I enjoyed his promo...I just can't get into to a guy just getting the living shit beat out of him. Seeing the abuse Spike took made me physically ill, and it seemed to make him ill as well, as he ended up vomiting all over Rhino after that stiff as hell choke that ended the match. This match disturbed me on many levels...and I ended up having nightmares about the vomiting all night long...

Other highlights:
I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the Tommy Dreamer/C.W. Anderson match. This was a pretty exciting contest which had the crowd really into it. C.W. of course looked great out there....he is quickly becoming one of my favorite ECW performers...and Tommy Dreamer proved once again that he has absolutely no regard for his own body. C.W. goes over after a brutal bump where Tommy went through the table which was turned legs up...OUCH!!!

Doring and RoadKill are the new champs...I am really happy for them. RoadKill is so over its ridiculous. I am glad Paul E. finally gave them a run with the belts...a rivalry with Tajiri and Mikey would be sweet....

Even though the crowd was dead for it...I really liked the Main Event. I was really happy Corino retained even though of course I would have preferred that it had gone to Jerry...still I like the idea of pairing Jerry with Cyrus...Cyrus could lead him to great things....

So overall, I enjoyed the action at the ECW PPV...and I am happy they are still afloat...somewhat...anyway...it should be interesting to see what happens next.

Ok, finally, onto the WWF....Already another PPV is upon us...didn't Survivor Series just happen...Well they are trying to go all out here by putting 6 of the biggest names on the roster into a Hell in a Cell match. This has the potential to be great, or it has the potential to be a total cluster...I will withhold judgment till afterwards...but I will make a prediction. I know I usually don't make predictions, but this time I have a feeling so I am going to go with it...I predict that Kurt Angle will retain his belt...and leave the match as he came in as the WWF Champion. I think that Steph or Vince will have something to do with his victory as well. Either way it will be interesting to see all 6 of these guys locked in a cell together... Luckily it's a really big cell!!

I enjoyed WWF programming this week. I watched Jakked because Raven, Tazz and the Dudleys were on. Tazz had a really good match against Esse Rios, which saw Tazz pull of some super sweet suplexes. The crowd popped like crazy for them...so why not let him do this kind of stuff on regular T.V. The PPV is so top heavy the WWF should have built up something with Tazz and Raven to at least put them on the card. Now if they do, it will seem rushed and out of nowhere...Still both men put on good matches this week.

Speaking of good matches, I totally enjoyed Benoit vs. Hardcore this week. Both those men work stiff as hell, and any match which includes Benoit is a great match in my mind...the man is a god!!! And the way he sold that arm shot...damn...I almost believed that he was knocked out cold. All I have to say is if Benoit is forced to put over the "One" Billy Gunn at the PPV, I will be physically ill. I say get the belt off of Billy...put it back on Benoit. Although in my mind he is above this belt, but since he seems to be back in the midcard for the time being...give him the belt and let him bring back the prestige it had when he was the champion. I mean the IC belt has not meant anything since he held it and dropped it to Rikishi....even when Eddy held it, it was more of an afterthought to the storyline between Eddy and Chyna. So put it back on Benoit and let him and Jericho feud over it again...this is a rivalry which I will never....EEEEEVVVVEEEEERRRRR tire of...in my mind these guys should be in the Hell in a Cell feuding for the World Heavyweight Belt...but of course this is my bias...I love these guys....but you can't tell me that Jericho vs. Angle this week on RAW didn't kick mighty ass!!! It was a super solid wrestling contest...which still held the crowd's interest. The near falls were great and even though I had a strong suspicion that Kane would somehow interfere it still had me marking out for almost the entire match. Plus I have to say, I really like the rivalry between Kane and Jericho and I think it is a very good idea for them to duke it out in a last man standing match at the PPV. I think that Jericho will go over here...somehow knocking Kane out cold. Should be a hell of a contest...

Hardcore Holly vs. William Regal will be entertaining to me as well...Should be a really solid contest...and I am betting Hardcore will be over huge in his home state. Hopefully this match will play out better than their last one...which unfortunately had no crowd reaction despite being a pretty solid contest in my mind.

That's it in terms of announced matches as of now...I think...so now I will go onto random thoughts:

I really don't like Vince McMahon being back on TV...I would much rather see Shane. That being said, its pretty hard to ignore the entertainment value of seeing him get the three big finishing moves of Austin, the Rock and the UT...

It was interesting that they actually brought up what happened at last year's Armageddon...will we see some revenge from Vince on HHH this year?

Dudleys wearing RTC clothes = Dudleys as heels...even if they are only doing it to get them to give them a match...I don't care...I will be happy with one Dudley Boyz heel promo...so here's hoping I get one on Thursday.

I love the Dean Malenko/Lita stuff. It is so great, and funny...Dean Malenko actually carried Lita to a respectable match this week on RAW...making her look better than she has ever looked, but still pulling out the victory to ensure that he got what he wanted...a date with her on Smackdown. Now I know most people probably won't agree but I am looking forward to seeing what happens. Think she'll bring Matt and Jeff along...

Man, I just realized, I have not talked about my favorite brothers, nor my other favorite Christian. So allow me to remedy that situation....Matt and Jeff once again put on a solid as hell match against RTC...but it is obvious that neither Matt nor Jeff were 100%...I would once again like to say that I would love for them to have some time off...to heal and come back 100%. That being said, it was great to actually show them getting pissed off as hell backstage after the Dudleys cost them the titles....and I'm not just saying that because Matt Hardy looked incredibly sexy all pissed off...but the more personality you allow them to show, the better it will be for them in the long run.

Now onto my other favorite Christian...how much did I love the confrontation between Edge and Christian and Road Dogg and K-Kwick...it totally reeked of awesomeness...and I loved their rap too....much better than that horrid get rowdy song...so as of now they are the #1 contenders again...about damn time...but I saw on a non-spoiler preview of Smackdown that they take on the rapping duo again....HUH?

I'll be interested to see the how the rest of the PPV card shapes up after Smackdown...it doesn't appear to have that many matches, so we will see...

Few other random notes....I just read that Mick Foleys two favorite shows are the Sopranos and Oz...Oz...Mick Foley watches Oz?...also Scott Keith actually mentioned Oz in his recap of the ECW PPV. I guess it is more popular than I thought...

I have decided that I really hate "boring" chants. In mind they are super disrespectful. I mean even if you are not into the match, these guys are still going out there putting it their bodies on the line for your entertainment. If you don't' like the match...go to the concession stand and get a soda...don't sit there and chant boring...

I loved the Rock's imitation of all of his Hell in a Cell opponents on RAW. I have to say I was laughing my ass off...his Rikishi was my favorite..." I did it for the Rock." Classic stuff.

I also sort of liked the backstage beatdown of the 3 faces in the hell in a cell match by the 3 heels...it was weird as hell seeing HHH and Kurt work together though...Still don't see how HHH will work that match on Sunday...his back still looks to be in sad shape...OUCH...

Here's hoping for a good PPV this weekend...Hope everyone enjoys it...till next time...
