REBECCA'S RANT

¼Hey All! I am sitting here at my mom's battling Bronchitis and a congested head...but of course I wanted to get a few things off my chest so I am wading through tissues to bring you these special post Election Blues rants.

Post Election Blues Political Rant

First a few notes on the wild election. I swear was Vince McMahon booking the election or something...false finishes, rescinded concession speeches, elections too close to call...utter craziness but it definitely made for some good TV. Although the more states came in for Bush, the more sick I became. Now I read our esteemed leader's RAW recap where he actually called Bush the lesser of two evils. I can't disagree more. George W. has beliefs that stem back to the dark ages. Women shouldn't have the right to choose, gays don't have the right to even have civic unions...hell I'm sure he thinks its an abomination. And I truly doubt his belief in minority rights...just look at his reluctance to pass Hate Crime legislation. I am truly scared for this country with his heinous economic plan which will see the supposed prosperity of this country crumple in no time. This past Saturday, SNL did a spoof about what would happen in the near future with the different candidates. Under George W. within 2 weeks of him becoming president, the great lakes were on fire, and Texas had been occupied by the U.S.S.R. Now I realize this is an exaggeration but I don't think by much. That being said, I am fascinated by the closeness of the election, I still don't understand George W.'s appeal but apparently a lot of American's did. I just find it odd after 8 years of perceived prosperity the American people have utterly rejected the Democratic party that has brought them this prosperity. So I could understand them rejecting these people if the candidate on the other side of the fence was a great man with great qualifications...but he is far from that. I shudder to think of him in any kind of decision making situation because the man doesn't seem able to comprehend any kind of complex situation. I was too young to have fully understood the stupidity of the American people when they elected Reagan to two Presidential terms, so this is the first time I am fully aware of just how moronic the American People can be. (Sorry Russell...I know you hate it when I call Republicans moronic). Not that Gore is so great and of course I can't stand Lieberman and his censoring ass, but I would still rather someone who is intelligent and actually knows about little things like issues...and how the government works. To quote my man Nader says...if you chose the lesser of two evils at the end of the day its still evil...but I think I would rather take my chances with Gore.

I was going to stop there, but I have been listening to all the breaking news...and I had to write some more. As of now Gore has the popular vote and I believe that if a person wins the popular vote then he should be the President. I would have said the same thing if the situation was reversed and Bush was ahead. We live in a democracy where the people are supposed to be the ones that choose the President but in this case it will be a few individuals in the Electoral College that will...and what about this situation in Florida...the more time passes the more weird things come out about missing Ballot boxes, 3000 votes for Buchanan that nobody cast...it just gets more interesting...esp. with the vote there being separated by under 2000. And then we have the situation in MO, where Dick Cheney called one of his judge buddies to close the polls in a highly democratic district despite people waiting on line for hours and not being able to vote due to polling malfunctions. In my opinion this is reprehensible. If people made the effort to get out there and vote they should be allowed to exercise that right. This should be investigated further in my opinion and should not be stood for...Candidates calling in favors from judges to stop the democratic process...yeah, this is the guy who I want as Vice President.

Ok, that is all I'm going to say about the sickening Election situation and now onto other important things like wrestling.

A few notes about the ECW PPV which I have not yet gotten to see. I was sickened to hear that Angel of the Baldies got pretty serious burns from his flaming tables match and that Sinister Minister was hurt as well. This should just not happen. Also, it seems that Jerry Lynn was not even worthy of the final match on this particular night as he lost the first fall in the strangely set up Main Event. I would have loved to see Super Crazy's return, and I heard that Kid Kash was awesome as usual, but I certainly wasn't thrilled reading the results. Poor ECW...they seem in major distress and I definitely feel for them. Hopefully they will able to actually get a National TV deal soon, and maybe sign some new developmental talent.

On a side note...congrats to Chris Chetti for signing a development deal with the WWF. He would definitely not have been my first pick from the ECW...but he is pretty talented, so it will be interesting to see how this progresses...

Onto the WWF....

First off, I have to say that Sunday Night Heat this week was so amazing...and yes the fact that the main "characters" were my favorite brothers...the Hardys...and those ever lovable cocky blondes...Christian and Edge. I was talking to Sharon about Christian and Edge the other day and she was telling me that they are quickly becoming one of her favorite parts of RAW...that and watching the Rock saunter around in his open dress shirt showing off his "caramel god-like" chest...but I have to agree...not about the Rock of course...but about the cocky boyz....this week we got graced with Benoit's theme, and I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face....

Jeff Hardy actually spoke...yes, hell has frozen over and Jeff Hardy was actually given the opportunity to utter a few words...and I for one thought he did a great job and no I wasn't distracted by his beautiful chest and the way he looked in that leather jacket without a shirt, or the way he said that "we love him for what he has inside"........

Ok, sorry I got a little sidetracked for a second...where was I...oh yeah, Sunday Night Heat...his match against Bull was surprisingly good...but then again I have rarely if ever seen a crappy Hardy's match, whether it be singles or tag team action...and then of course the Show ended with an incredible match with Matt w/Jeff in his corner vs. Edge w/Christian in his. This match literally had me jumping up and down, the fast paced action, the near falls, the interference by Jeff and Christian....so great...with a great ending too...Matt got the pin...excellent match...but then we get RTC interfering, which I don't really have a problem with...hell its time for the Hardys to get into a rivalry with another team...but then the next night on RAW...wham...bam, RTC takes the goddamn titles away from the Hardys....what the hell was that about....how about some buildup...how about a PPV match instead of the Hardys losing the titles on free TV...its an insult to the best damn tag team in the WWF right now. I just hope that the Hardys are actually allowed to deliver a promo against the RTC challenging them to a rematch....the thing is...the members of RTC who won the belts suck too.. I mean Bull and the Goodfather...our tag team champions...PLEASE!!!!

Ok, so RAW sort of annoyed me...I really didn't like a lot of it...but then there were a few things that I just loved and it sort of saved it for me...

I was so un-thrilled to see Vince Back and I was even more un-thrilled when he started lecturing me about voting. The thing is, I think that the WWF attempting to get their fans out to vote is a great thing...I mean if this election has proved anything it is that one vote can make a difference...but the way he did reeked of pretentiousness... Still this did lead to the beginning of what I consider Kurt Angle's best performance in the WWF so far. From him calling Austin ...Bucko...to him making fun of George W. in Texas..."maybe it was G.W. who ran over Austin after he had a few cold ones," to my personal favorite line of the night..."Children love me damnit." The Man was on...and I also loved how he went searching for the Rock..."have you seen the Rock"...whammo...clocking him in the head with the belt...utterly awesome...in my opinion. Plus this little mean streak is great...I love it that he is more aggressive.

Other things I loved....

Of course the swerve on everyone's mind...HHH clocking Austin with the sledgehammer...I swear I think HHH became my new hero when he did this. HHH is such a better heel than he is a face...and it was so great how he's been playing the face role...sort of...even going as far as to re-align with DX for one night only...to completely throw us off his trail...and then after the Rock is incapacitated...he comes down to help Austin...or so we think and then wham...sledgehammer to the head and blood on is abdomen...and a sick almost whisper into Austin's ear. I cannot tell you how much I absolutely loved this swerve...finally something cool in this horrific storyline...I don't know what his connection is with Rikishi, but the rest of it makes great sense...HHH hates Austin, and wanted the belt...and of course we know that HHH hates the Rock, so that fits in too...actually it makes more sense than most of the WWF storylines ever do...so I think that its awesome...and I especially like that HHH is back where he belongs...as the top bad ass heel...whoo hooo

Quick side note...we should have put two and two together when Rikishi started using HHH's favorite foreign object...the sledgehammer....

Also loved....

Both Hardy boys wearing those sheer shirts...ok, pure hormones talking here...but damn they looked good. Of course I hated them losing the belt...but let me clarify. I understand why the WWF has given the belts to RTC...I can't even say I disagree with the situation, but I don't agree with the timing or the way they did it. Also the Hardys are the best tag team in the WWF and it doesn't seem like they ever get a long run with the titles...also to have them lose it on free TV is an insult. I am only hoping the rumored 4 way elimination match between the Hardys, Edge and Christian, the Duds, and RTC at Survivor Series comes to pass and the Hardys win back their titles in decisive fashion. Then I think they should throw the Radicalz (ie Benoit/Malenko) into the mix...

I was very pleased with the Undertaker/Val match. This match was surprisingly good in my opinion...I thought Undertaker sold like hell for Val and Val put on a good showing against the Big Man. I also loved UT's little tribute to Yoko...totally class by Taker...

The debut of Mona (or whatever they are calling her) was great. She fits in so well with Crash and she is able to do his expressions very well...I was cracking up. Also she is totally beautiful ...and from what I have heard is a very accomplished wrestler. We can always use more of those...

Things I absolutely hated:

Ok, I hate this supposed new push for the Radicals...if that's what you can call it....Please...they are supposed to be this bad ass heel stable and yet they need 4 guys and a belt to get the better of HHH (one guy) on Smackdown last week. I don't think so...this is not the way to get over a heel stable. They should have destroyed HHH leaving him a bloody and battered mess, but HHH ends up standing in the middle of the ring, with a chair looking like a bad ass while the Radicals were crawling away...oh yeah real badasses...and then on RAW it continued...DX reforms...for one night only...I don't know how I felt about this...I sort of liked it, but I didn't like it at all later because it ended up being at the expense of the Radicalz...who ended up losing to the one night only reformed DX...there is no reason that HHH and DX needed the win here. The Radicals on the other hand desperately needed this win to get any kind of legitimacy. I mean, Kurt Angle comes running down interferes, and the Radicals get a few punches here and there, and then they stand up on the ramp holding their hands up in victory...what the hell did they succeed at getting punked out by DX...this is an insult to the Radicals, and I sincerely hope that they are now taken out of any kind of story with HHH and go on a mission where they beat people's asses and leave them lying all over the damn place...

One more thing that totally annoys me is the way they are handling Raven...lets put him against the King and have him get his ass kicked...why are Raven and Tazz still in this heinous feud...get them out of there...NOW!!!

I don't know how I feel about this Kane/Jericho feud, although I really liked Kane's promo...it was seriously creepy...and its just good to see Kane back on T.V.

Although I loved the Table match with Christian and Edge vs. the Duds...I don't understand why it was necessary to 3D Christian through a table when J.R. said Friday that Christian was still not 100%...so lets put him through a table...maybe he'll re-injure himself...why not... still this match was awesome and I loved how the fired up Hardys came down to kick some ass...

So there are my distracted thoughts...Oh yeah, a quick shout out to Greg...thanks for bringing over that awesome as hell Super J-Cup tape. I loved watching the Benoit/Jericho match...it was amazing...Ok, so I have one ear listening out for any new Election news as I am typing so I'm sorry if some of this makes no sense. Unbelievably the Election is turning out to be just as exciting as a great episode of RAW or Smackdown...sometime life is so strange...

Until next time....
