REBECCA'S RANTS

Heeeeeee's Baaaaaack!!

Vince is back...and from the look's of things he ain't going nowhere for a long time...

Rebecca here with this week's Rebecca's Rants...before I get into musing about my favorite federation, I want to say a few words about the other excellent wrestling promotion...the EC f'ckin W!!!

Yesterday, before I watched RAW, I went to my friend Joe's house and watched the excellent ECW PPV Anarchy Rulz (thanks to Joe and his brother for taping it!). Now the more I see from the ECW, the more impressed I get. I think that there 4th week on TNN, this past Friday, was their strongest show yet. Some of the problems have been ironed out, and they presented a strong, entertaining as hell product, leading up to their PPV. The highlight for me would have to be the Jerry Lynn/RVD match. I have now seen these guys go up against each other 3 times, and I can honestly say, I am not even close to sick of it!! These two put on some of the most incredibly electrifying matches I have ever seen, and although I think RVD is basically a wrestling god, Jerry Lynn shouldn't be taken lightly. Wrestling is a two way street, I don't care how talented a wrestler is, if he doesn't have a good opponent to play off of, and to sell the moves, the match will come off like shit. Not so with these men!!! Special Note: I was particularly blown away by the spit legged moonsault by RVD, can this guy move or what?

Onto the PPV...since this is the first ECW PPV I have ever seen, I don't have any basis for comparison, but if this show was any indication of past PPV's, I can honestly say that ECW puts on a PPV like no other federation! >From the fast paced, opener between Jerry Lynn (bruised ribs and all) and Lance Storm I knew I was in for a wild ride!!!! These two embroiled us in a virtual war which included some vicious bumps by both men. All in all, I continue to be mucho impressed by Jerry Lynn, and look forward to many more wars with the Impact players and of course RVD.

My favorite match of the night was the three way dance between Tajiri, Little Guido and Super Crazy...what can I say I am a sucker for high flying, fast paced matches. Tajiri blows me away with his handstand springboard off the ropes into a vicious flying elbow. I also love his very stiff looking drop kicks to his opponents legs and faces... good stuff, including the incredibly cool looking Tarantula around the side ring ropes, and the combination Sicilian Crab/Camel clutch move that looked like it was going to tear Tajiri in half. Basically this match entertained the hell out of me, and garnered numerous oooh's and aahh's from me after witnessing some (to borrow a phrase from JR) scintillating moves.

Ok, basically, these two matches alone would have been worth paying for, but then we are given the incredible World Title Match with ended up being a three way dance as well, between Taz, Tanaka, and Mike Awesome. What can I say, I really thought that Kane was the most agile big man in the business, but after witnessing this match, I have to say, I have never seen a big man do what Mike Awesome does...what he lacks in personal charisma, he more than makes up for in wrestling ability. This guy doesn't seem to realize that he is 6'8", 300+ pounds. So not only does he do the high flying moves, usually reserved for cruiser weights or the likes of Sabu and RVD, but he also has insane power. I love his power bombs, as he just simply throws his opponents across the ring. The power bomb from the top rope onto the table, was quite simply INCREDIBLE. Tanaka, to his credit is one tough SOB, I love his style, and I am sad that he is returning to Japan, and I hope he returns to the ECW soon.

Other random notes: Sabu is one crazy mother...hey shut your mouth...I'm just talking about Sabu. All I have to say is check out his flip 30 feet into the audience...enough said, except that I can't believe he lost!!!

Rob Van Dam...I'm sure everything that can be said about this man has already been said, but being new to the ECW game, I just have to say WOW, this guy is just AMAZING. I love the way he hops up to the top rope, like its home!!! He the man!!! And he can take some pretty heinous bumps too!!!

Overall, I can't remember the last time, I saw so many incredible wrestling matches all on one show, sure there were some low points, but the high points definitely outnumbered the low. Also, Taz's farewell was quite emotional, and really cool to behold. He came out and handed over is belt to the new champ, really cool. I dare say the tough SOB was shedding a couple of tears when he went to embrace Paul Heyman. In no other place besides the ECW do opponents hug and shake hands after they have wrestled a hell of a match. I have never seen anything like it, and I think the ECW is a class act. Anyone who hasn't seen the PPV should check it out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!!

Ok on to the WWF... so we got the last RAW before the PPV (to which yours truly is going!!!! YAY!!!!) and the WWF didn't disappoint. RAW was jam packed with tons of exciting match ups and a very impressive double performance by TEST. Basically I decided Test gets the title of Performer of the Night from me and I'll tell you why:

First off, he looked very impressive against JJ, basically destroying him from start to finish , and of course I loved the added insult to injury of Stephanie pinning the sexist pig. (note to WWF writers...please allow Chyna to destroy JJ at Unforgiven without HHH's help, to prove to him what the real place for women is) Anyway, back to Test... Test gets better and better in the ring every time I see him, and with a large arsenal of excellent moves, its only a matter of time, till Test becomes a major contender...and he's well on his way.

Was I the only one who was shocked to see him in the main event on RAW last night, I mean this was a major push out of nowhere. I really like the Shane/Test team a lot. Shane continues to blow me away in the ring, showing that he has more moves than _ the WWF roster himself. Test knew this was his shot, and really stepped up to the plate in this match. Basically I was groaning when I heard the challenge earlier in the night, but this match turned out to be really good. Test looked incredible against HHH who as usual mounted his pathetic offense of kicks and punches, compare this to the awesome boot to the face, the powerbomb from hell, the pump handle slam, and the elbow off the tope rope, to name a few moves, and the real question is once again, what the hell is HHH doing in the main event? So Test gave 115% and I hope the WWF bookers took notice of his amazing effort. So like I said, he gets my award for Performer of the Night.

Other areas of interest in this match... I find it very interesting how Chyna is pulling both face and heel duty. I've noticed it for some weeks now, when she is with HHH, she is a heel, when she is against JJ, she is a face, but this week she ended up being both in one match. She was being cheered wildly, when she took off after JJ during the main event, just moments after she was being booed for beating up Shane...strange.

Has HBK fallen off the face of the earth or something? I thought for sure we were going to see him last night esp. since RAW took place in Texas, but still no HBK? I wonder what this is all about?

Other RAW observations:

Mark Henry is the horniest man on the planet...doesn't he ever get enough. I'm glad D'Lo got a hold of him, and I can't wait till he takes his title back from him at Unforgiven.

Jericho...now I know that Jericho is everyone's darling, but so far he has not really impressed me. I watched a match with him against Sabu in the ECW, and he was amazing. Since he's come to the WWF, he has not really showcased any of his in ring ability, plus this new character turn with his new bodyguard Curtis Hughes, SUCKS!!! Have you seen the mug on this guy...god, hasn't his mother ever warned him that if someone pats him on the back while he is making funny faces his face will stay that way...oh to late... Please do something to save Jericho!!!! Because right now he is dare I say....BORING.

What the hell is up with this Marianna storyline. I hate it!!! And I hope it ends soon!!! Some things should just not be exploited, and this is one of them....not only is this storyline inappropriate and offensive, Marianna is the worst actress on the planet...down with Marianna!!!! On a happier front, I thought Chaz looked very cute in his Scooby Doo boxer shorts. Now does that look like a face that could hurt anyone, I think not!!

Rock and Mankind deliver another brilliant set of interviews, and another excellent match to once again regain the WWF tag team titles. I am ecstatic that the WWF decided to keep these two together, because they really click. When these two are together they elevate to the next level. I don't know what was funnier, the Rock trying to restrain himself from going off on that older woman, or his impression of himself talking trash in his sleep, or Mankind's scene stealing line..."Just in case you were wondering sicko...everything between me and the rock is strictly plutonic" . Classic stuff here.

Speaking of great tag teams, where the hell are Christian and Edge? It appears that winning #1 contender status is the kiss of death. Since winning, they haven't been on TV. I am going through Christian withdrawal and hope he returns soon. Side Note: Thank you WWF magazine for running that cool article on Christian, and of course for the delicious pictures as well!

Good for Kane, not being manipulated by the Undertaker to partake in his twisted games. Kane is too much of a face right now to make a heel turn, and personally I love him as a face. I think the UT is jealous of his brother's huge fan support, and he is doing anything to undermine it...when manipulation doesn't work, he resorts to his old tricks and goes for the gasoline. Thank god Mankind and the Rock came to his rescue!!! Is this a new alliance? Interesting to say the least!! Especially with the intriguing six pack main event at Unforgiven. I have no earthly idea who will walk away with the title this Sunday, I of course am hoping its Kane, but somehow I doubt it.

Now onto the big news from last night's RAW, Vince has been reinstated in the WWF, and by none other than the Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin. I have to say, surprisingly, esp. to myself, I really enjoyed how this came off. Austin is so much better when he is a storyline with Vince. Its true when he says that things have not been the same without him! Especially for Austin, who is never as good as when he is in the heated rivalry with Vince. I am glad Vince vacated the belt, because he knows better than anyone that he has no business holding it. The belt should be held by a wrestler, plain and simple. I am very interested to see what havoc McMahon will wreak on the WWF now that he's back!! And to my delight, it appears that he has his sights set on HHH!! I cannot wait to see 5 pissed of guys giving HHH the ass whippin of his life at the main event at Unforgiven. Oh yeah, I 'm sure Austin will also get his few shots in as well!! And me and Heather will be practically ringside to see it. And then the following night we will also be at RAW!!! Two days of wrestling action for us, I just hope that Christian makes at least one appearance!!

Anyway, no predictions for me this time, since I suck at them anyway, I decided not to embarrass myself... keep a look out for me on your TV screens. Sharon, I really wish you could go with us, if by chance I meet the Rock, I will make sure to snap a bunch of pictures and get an autograph for you, I promise. See ya next week with my own personal notes from Unforgiven and RAW. Hope you enjoy!!
