REBECCA'S RANTS

Hey All!!! First things first....HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO CRZ.NET/WRESTLING... YAY!!! A year passes so quickly...I hope CRZ had a spectacular time in my old stomping grounds of New York City. Also congrats to Sharon on reaching column #50...quite a milestone...you go girl. Not much time today, man when do I have time anymore, so onto the Rants...

So I have been loving the current direction of my favorite fed the WWF, elevating Benoit, elevating Jericho, elevating Angle, having Mick on my TV as Commish, ready to grant anyone's wish, yes all of these things are definitely good. So for today's special Anniversary column I want to take a look at the direction the WWF is going in, what they are doing right, what they are doing wrong, and where I think they should go from here.

Lets look at Chris Jericho first. I love this intense feud with HHH. It is great to see HHH get so fired up, and Chris Jericho has carried the Game to some of the greatest matches of his career...so this is definitely a good thing. Throw in Stephanie, and this storyline has great potential. That being said the beatdown of Jericho on RAW this week was a little weak for my tastes. I am so sick of DX giving people the beatdown. They are a bunch of punks too, and the fact that they got the better of Jericho is stupid. It also didn't help that Jericho popping the blood capsule was clearly visible on TV, so it was quite difficult to suspend my disbelief. The bloody mess/stretcher angle was just a little lame for me. The other thing that I don't like about this is I wish Jericho was going for the gold but I am patient and I know this will come soon. Plus I am not all that upset that Benoit is the one going for the gold.

So this is what I want to happen: at Fully Loaded, I want Stephanie to turn on HHH and align herself with Jericho, turning Jericho heel. I just think he is about a million times better as a heel. I mean I love the guy but his face promos are a little lame. So who cares if the crowd pops big time for him, they will boo him just as much, esp. if he aligns himself with the slut Stephanie. Everyone thinks that Stephanie will go with Kurt Angle if she leaves HHH which would make this a giant swerve. Man, I can just imagine how loud everyone will boo if he comes out all smootchy with Stephanie. Then we have a heartbroken HHH, with even more reason to hate Jericho and even more reason to want to beat his ass. This is definitely a good thing. Plus imagine Jericho's promos just destroying HHH for being the cuckolded husband...it could be classic. So this is what I hope happens. I think it will be a good thing all around for all the players involved.

Next up we got Benoit's awesome feud with the Rock. I am so ecstatic that the WWF is giving Benoit a chance to elevate to the next level, and I think putting him with Shane McMahon is just genius. Shane is great on the mike and he certainly knows what to do and say to piss people off to no end, plus it makes logical sense that he would want a bad ass like Benoit on his team. In Benoit, Shane has finally found his champion. And I'll tell you I have been very impressed with Benoit's mike work as of late. His thick as hell Canadian accent just adds to his aura of bad ass. He is playing his character to perfection. He doesn't give a shit, he just want to kick people's ass's and laugh about it. He wants a piece of the Rock, and I can't wait till he gets it with Gold on the line. His exchange with Foley on Smackdown was great, and Foley was selling for him like a champ. Its almost funny because you can tell that Foley loves this guy and wants him to succeed, but he has to pretend that he doesn't because he is the face commissioner. But anyway, I love this rivalry right now, I think it is being played out perfectly. The only unrealistic part is of course that Benoit could just destroy the Rock in the ring, because of course the Rock sucks as a wrestler. But to his credit and of course mostly to Benoit's, these two have put on some excellent matches in the past. Every time Benoit pushes the Rock in a match, the Rock shows up and pushes himself to try to keep up with Benoit. Now I don't exactly understand what they were trying to do with the ending of the Main Event on RAW. We have the screwjob ending, and then the reversal. I mean everyone knows that Benoit will face the Rock at the PPV, I guess they still want to keep us guessing.

What I want to happen: well of course I want Benoit to somehow walk away with the title. And I would love it if it is done in a clean manner. Of course this won't happen, it is too soon some will say, we need more build up...I guess I can see that but patience has never been my strong point. I want to see Benoit with Heavyweight gold now, and mostly I just want to see the title off the Rock. As over as he is, he is just a boring champ. Benoit will be a kick ass champ. Ok, that being said, if Benoit does not win the title at the PPV either cleanly or through some underhanded tactics involving Shane, then I hope it ends in a way that the Rock is just destroyed, bloodied and beaten, making the rivalry even more intense so there will have to be a rematch at Summerslam, where of course myself, Heather and Sharon will be in attendance. Sharon will be rooting for her caramel god of course, and me and Heather will be rooting for our People's champ, Chris Benoit, and he will win the title, because its only a matter of time, its only a matter of time.

Kurt Angle and the Undertaker is a little harder to figure out. Their exhange on RAW was great. The American Hero vs. the American Bad Ass, the scooter vs. the sweet as Titan Motorcycle. I like it so far. When they get in the ring we will see the real test. As much as I love the new Undertaker, I fully admit it is for strictly lustful reasons. Personally, I am weary of how he will look in the ring in an actual singles match with a great wrestler like Kurt. Also what are they going to do here. It seems obvious that they will job Kurt to the Undertaker, but how does that improve anything. It doesn't, but yet they can't really job UT to him because that would put a serious dent into this whole American Bad Ass image. A serious quandary here by the WWF. Obviously I don't think it should be any kind of squash on the UT's part. Yeah, he's pissed off at Kurt but he still should not squash him in a match. I think that the WWF should have Kurt look fantastic against the UT, really take it to him, and even almost win. Then the Undertaker comes back hits the "last ride" (I'm sorry but this is lame, gotta agree with CRZ here, let the man do his end move!) and get the win. Maybe throw in a little mutual respect thing, UT finds new respect for King Kurt. I don't know just a thought. I hope this match isn't a total stinker and if it is I hope the WWF look at the full picture of why it came across badly and don't penalize Kurt and his chances for Main Event Success.

Other goings on in the WWF:

Last week we saw the beginnings of what to me could be a very promising stable. The Tag Team Champions: Christian and Edge and the Crippler, Chris Benoit. I have to say I love this. The Champs little promo was so damn funny too..."it does our Maple Leaf pride good to see a Canadian who kicks as much ass as you...and besides the Crossface rules". Gotta echo their sentiment there....even if I am not Canadian...when I look at these men, I wish I was though. Anyway I like this Canadian Mafia idea a lot and I hope we see some continuation of this in the near future. Benoit as champ and E & C as tag team champs...now that's a hell of a stable.

Ok, so I am going to bitch now, I haven't figured out where to start. They are sort of connected though so here goes. I have noticed a recent trend in the WWF that no one gets clean wins anymore. I hate this new trend and think it is a mistake. For some reason it seems that the WWF officials feel that clean pins will kill heat. In my opinion nothing is further from the truth. I have just recently watched a great tape with the wonderful Ryan Mancuso made for me of some old ECW matches. The tape starts off with 3 insanely excellent contests between Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero. Dean wins the first after at least 20 minutes of some of the most spectacular mat wrestling I have ever witnessed. Did Eddy lose heat. I think not, in fact he got cheered just as loud, and it added more fuel to their rivalry. Same thing with the second match. Eddy won, but Dean was not hurt in the bit, and the last contest was a 2 out of 3 falls match. They each got on pin a piece and the last fall ended on a double pin causing the match to be called a draw. Were these men hurt by these "losses" no in fact I believe it elevated them. Lets look at another example: the ladder match at No Mercy last year. The Hardys and Edge and Christian battle in an insane contest, the Hardys go over clean...both teams have said that this is the point in their career that everything changed, they were both elevated. Did losing hurt Christian and Edge...on the contrary, they are now the Tag Team Champs...which leads me to the second part of my bitching...it seems that the only people that are jobbing cleanly are people that shouldn't be. Why have Chyna pin Christian cleanly to end the Main Event on Smackdown. What was the purpose of that? To make Christian look bad. You shouldn't job out your tag team champions like that, esp. for Chyna to "gain revenge" for Benoit's attack. How was her pinning Christian revenge? And of course my favorite and for some reason majorly "depushed" team The Hardys. When was the last time the Hardys won a match...I mean really...oh yeah, Matt pulled off a victory over Gangrel on Jakked...hey why the hell is Matt Hardy fighting Gangrel on Jakked for god sakes. The WWF put them with Lita, who now seems to be more over than them, but since they've been with her they haven't won a damn match...they lose to T & A like 5 times, they lose to Too Cool, I just don't understand. I thought they would be gearing up the Hardys to feud with Christian and Edge for the tag team titles at Summerslam...well if they intend to do this I think they better get on it. I mean all they do is job anymore and I am sick of it. And what are they doing with the tag team titles, they have the champs feuding with the Acolytes, and it appears that Farooq is injured and can't even wrestle anyway, so why not feud my two teams against each other...also where are the Dudleyz in all of this. Who the hell are they feuding with...no one. Believe me I love Christian and Edge and their mike work is still one of the best reasons to tune into the WWF but how about get them in a good wrestling feud so we can see why they truly are deserving champs, because they can wrestle!!!

Side Note: I just had to comment: HOW HOT DID JEFF HARDY LOOK IN THAT WHITE T SHIRT ON MONDAY NIGHT? WAS HE TRYING TO KILL WOMEN EVERYWHERE...WELL IT ALMOST WORKED...damn boy should be illegal.

Ok, hormone rant out of the way...

I have no idea what the WWF is doing with TAZZ but his little promo was pretty cool...."oh so you want to speak to me now huh? I don't think so." Super cool bad ass attitude. I still think it will be cool to feud him with Saturn. Hell a good feud, with solid intense matches could be just what these two need to elevate them. I also think it will be cool to put Saturn back with Raven, when Raven comes into the WWF. They always had chemistry together, and I think it could translate well here. Hell then they can come and kick Steven Richards ass and make him goofy again...that will be cool.

D'Lo and Chazz: I like this team a lot. D'lo looks to be in great shape, and Chazz, well I've always had a soft spot for that hottie...there is definite potential there, now how about give them some wins. See this is what I am talking about...a good rivalry with some clean wins could do wonders for them.

Mick as Commish still rules too by the way. I thought RAW was really lacking something this week, and that something was Mick. The guy's been back like 2 weeks, and I already miss him if he takes a week off. He brings humor and excitement back to the WWF and I love it.

Ok, so that is all the time I have for this Anniversary edition of Rebecca's Rants. I hope I was somewhat coherent. One more thing...Hey Heather!! I'm with you on Season 4 of Oz starting tonight. I can't wait. I wonder what kind of craziness and angst we are in for.

Until next time...
