REBECCA'S RANTS

Hey All! I'm back after another exciting week to spew forth my wrestling thoughts for anyone who is kind enough to listen. Its my favorite time of the month to be a wrestling fan...the week before a PPV, especially if it's a PPV as stacked as No Way Out is...so lets get on with it.

I can't remember looking so forward to a PPV since...well since the Royal Rumble, which goes to show that the WWF is doing something right. February seems to be a good month for PPV's for the WWF. Last year they served us up St. Valentine's Day Massacre, which had a lot of really good matches, and a kick ass Main Event which saw Vince McMahon take a huge ass bump, and Paul Wight's memorable debut coming through the bottom of the ring. On paper, No Way Out looks to beyond exceed this card, as we are promised a ton of great mid card action and of course the latest in the legendary Hell in a Cell matches as the Main Event. Now, if you've been reading my column you know that I am a little worried about this Hell in a Cell scenario, and my worries were certainly not assuaged when Cactus let it be known that he promises to once again go to the top of the cage and fly off with an elbow onto HHH below. Ring, ring, ring...what is that sound you may ask, well that is the cable company's phones ringing off the hook after this announcement by Mick. Somehow I expect the buyrate for this PPV to go through the roof. What does Mick have to lose right? I mean its obvious he wants to go out in a blaze or glory, and he has sacrificed his body before, and there is no doubt he will do it again. The thing is with all Vince's talk of precautions to insure Foley doesn't get hurt, I just don't understand how one can insure that a man doing a 16 ft jump from the top of a cage onto anything other than a feather bed won't get hurt. Anyway, I am going to try and not think about this...I know this is Foley's choice and I respect that. I just hope and pray that when he wins, he will be ABLE to defend his belt at Wrestlemania...

Which leads to an interesting question, if Cactus takes the title from HHH at No Way Out, where does this leave HHH for Wrestlemania. Of course there is always the super lame triple threat match, but I really hope that the WWF doesn't go this route. The main event at Wrestlemania should be a one on one match up. It should be the champ and the #1 contender and that's it. Yeah, there could be a special guest referee (Stone Cold, maybe) but it should definitely be a one on one contest. So where does this leave HHH? I know I may be insane but I would love to see a HHH vs. Kane match for the #1 contender spot at Wrestlemania, with of course Kane going over HHH cleanly for a true and legitimate shot at the belt. All the Kane vs. HHH matches have had bogus endings, so how about have a real match with a real ending between these two for once. It is still a Semi-Main Event, and it would finally elevate Kane to where he deserves to be, a #1 contender for the belt. Of course, I am a huge Kane mark, spinning scenarios to elevate my favorite wrestler, so I may be way off base here, as to what most people want to see, but I know I am going to do everything in my power to get tickets to Backlash, the PPV after Wrestlemania in Washington DC, and I would love to be in the house to see Kane in the Main Event for the title, whether he wins it or not. Also, at least this is something different instead of the rehashing of the HHH/Rock feud, which I personally can't stand. So give Kane a shot...see where it goes....

On the Kane front, I must say, he mightily impressed me on Raw this week. He seemed to be working very stiff, and he looked like a monster...aahhh the Kane of old...how I've missed him. I certainly would not want to be X-Puke this coming Sunday at the PPV, because I have a strong feeling Kane is going to destroy him...at least I hope...the one thing I don't want to happen is for Kane to lose in any way , shape or form to X-Puke, as I feel it will destroy his credibility completely. It is a no holds barred match though, so interference is basically guaranteed, oh yeah, X-Puke is part of DX, so interference is guaranteed anyway...I still hope Kane has a decisive victory, but since I absolutely suck at predictions, I am not going to even try to go for one here.

Speaking of DX, the "we don't deserve to be champs" Outlaws are putting up their belts against the Damn Dudleys. I cannot wait for this match. I just hope and pray that one or both of the Outlaws go through tables in this match. Forget about the women for a second, I want to see Billy Gunn through a table...of course this would be after the Dudleys win the match and the belts though, don't want a DQ to end this match...a clean ending is necessary. After a disappointing Tag Team Title match at the Rumble a really good one is due at this PPV, and I really hope the titles change hands. It is really time for the Outlaws to drop the titles, yeah they are over, yeah, they have their great entrance, yeah, Road Dogg's wiggly wobbly knee drop (credit CRZ) gets a large pop, but its time for another tag team to be elevated, and I have no problems with the Dudleys taking that spot, especially if it means that their rivalry with both the Hardys and Edge and Christian will now turn into a rivalry for tag team gold. Now as much as I hate the idea of a triple threat match for the World Title at Wrestlemania, the idea of a triple threat match between the Hardys, Edge and Christian and the Dudleys at Wrestlemania greatly appeals to me. All three teams deserve it...yeah, the Hardys are an amazing, amazing team, but so are Edge and Christian, and both teams have been busting their asses for so long for this shot, that I think that both teams deserve to go to the Big Show and strut their stuff. Plus if Raw is any indication, a match where the Hardys and Christian and Edge are trying to one up each other cannot be a bad thing...right?

Side Note: Did anyone happen to catch Heat this week? Jeff Hardy took on Y2J for the IC belt in what can only be called a super contest. Jeff Hardy was his usual Jeff Hardy self, and Chyna and Matt played their supporting roles to perfection. Throw in the Dudleys and a devastating Buh Buh Cutter and you got the best match I have seen on Heat in a long while. If Heat continues to serve up quality matches like that one, and Esse Rios accompanied by my new hero, Lita vs. Funaki, I will have to pencil in Sunday night as another night of can't miss wrestling TV.

Switching gears, it was really good to see Test back in action last night. It is easy to see that he wanted to make an impression upon his return. Seems that Test understands what short memories wrestling fans seem to have, and wanted to remind us all just who he is, and how much he can kick ass when he wants too. Also with all the influx of new talent, it is easy to see how he might be scared for his position on the roster. He wanted to go out there and look good against Benoit....which he did. I don't exactly understand why the WWF had to have Benoit cheat to get a win over Test, but any opportunity to see Eddy is fine with me. That guy just cracks me up the way he slithers to the ring, like a snake...and finally they let him loose on the mike last night against Rikishi...although, I do believe that ending to the Benoit/Test match was somehow botched as it is impossible to believe that the ref, even the blind ass refs in the WWF didn't see Eddy on the ring apron...I guess he just decided to ignore it when he saw Eddy start whacking Test with the lead pipe. Whatever...

I loved the battle of the injured men between Rikishi and Eddy. First off Eddy speaks, and like I said before that guy just cracks me up, he is so smug and cocky, I love it. Of course he didn't stand a chance. Rikishi hits him with the triple crutch, and then giant ass drop on the messed up Elbow. Gotta give Eddy credit for taking an insane chance like letting a four hundred pound man drop his ass on his recently separated elbow...good stuff...I cannot wait till Eddy is actually back to 100% and able to compete again.

Malenko and Saturn also looked great in their match against 2Pimps without a Purpose. The best move of the night was the flying shoulder block by Saturn into the Godfather's shins as he was attempting the only move more pathetic than the bronco buster, the Ho train. Poor Perry seemed to get the wind knocked out of him, but damn it was worth it. Plus they picked up the win! I really hope Malenko and Saturn make an impact in the WWF as I feel they are both major talents. The thing about Malenko is he makes everyone he works with look good, he sells moves like a champ, and he is able to set up spots without making them look like spots. He is a true master, and I hope people are able to see this. I cannot wait for the 6 man tag match at No Way Out between the Radicals and Too Cool. Should be quite a battle as Scotty to Hotty and Grandmasta Sexay have really been coming into their own in recent weeks, looking very impressive in the ring. Plus we are guaranteed at least one suplex from Benoit of Rikishi, and I don't care how many times he does it, I will never get sick of seeing it...

Hopefully Vince will soon come up with a better storyline for D'Lo, as this whole pimp thing is doing nothing for him. As much as D'Lo looks great in tag team competition, I think his real strength lies in singles competition. I heard an interesting idea somewhere on the net, and I think I like it. How about sign Midnight from the WCW, and pair her up with D'Lo. Now that would be cool. Then you can get them into a rivalry with Jericho and Chyna. Now that would be really great!

Head Cheese continues to entertain, and even though they lost, I about died laughing when Blackman attempted, and I use the term loosely, to dance. Man, I bet Blackman never thought he would get the reaction that he gets now...besides the obvious Head Cheese chants, people actually seem to be cheering for him, its like a whole arena filled with CRZ's! Its like this whole Head Cheese thing has actually brought attention to his ample wrestling skills, plus unbelievably, he and Al Snow have a good chemistry, and pretty soon they could be a tag team to contend with, if Blackman doesn't hit Al Snow with the Kendo sticks first!

It is unbelievable to see how far Kurt Angle has come in such a short time...I mean really, its true, its true. The guy delivers some of the best heel promos I have ever heard, and he does it with a great originality, which is what I like. Plus you gotta love how he celebrates after any victory, even if its against an 80 year old woman like Mae. His battle with Jericho should be a good one this Sunday, as he has gotten the better of Jericho on two occasions now, so I fully expect Y2J to come out on tope this Sunday, with a little help from Chyna no doubt. Speaking of which, as much as I still have no earthly idea why they are together, I fully enjoyed their tag team match on Raw against Angle and The British Bulldog. Thankfully, the Bulldog didn't talk, and just had Angle's back, which is an ok role for him, if he has to be in the WWF, that is. But I just want to say that I thought Chyna looked really good out there. I have been disappointed by her last few appearances in the ring, but she looked full of sharp and full of energy on RAW. It of course didn't hurt that she had Jericho pumping her up and egging her on, but still she looked really good out there, and it was cool to see. Maybe she is feeling threatened by Lita...I'm now waiting for Chyna to execute a tornado DDT !

Just have to say, props to Mae Young for taking the big splash from Big Vis, as well as the pretty stiff looking clothesline from Hardcore. Hopefully this will put an end to this horrible pregnancy storyline once and for all.

Other Moments I Loved from RAW:

The Rock coming out and thankfully interrupting HHH before he went on and on about how he was going to end Cactus' career in the Hell in a Cell. The HHH impression, the return of the "absolutely suck" line (one of my absolute favorites and one I use often), and the line about if its another DX night he was going to puke...I echo the sentiment Rock....

Side Note: I like the Rock, but I don't love him like everyone else seems too. He's way to over for me to like him, as I usually go for the underdogs myself. That being said, I have been very impressed with the effort he has put forth in the ring lately. He may not have a lot of moves, but whatever he does do, he does it with a lot of enthusiasm and energy, which always draws the crowd into the match. He could go out there and sleep walk through his matches and not lose one bit of his popularity but he continually goes out there and gives 110%. Just thought I'd mention it.

Matt Hardys suicide dive onto the Dudleys - whoever says that Jeff is the Hardy with all the talent just hasn't watched Matt enough. His suicide dive blew me away, perfectly executed, and landed. Definitely my holy shit moment of the night.

Not to be outdone, I was impressed with the bump Jeff took off the top rope onto the outside railing as well as the leapfrog throw by the Dudleys that followed.

Props to Christian for attempting to do some kind of counter move on the Outlaws that just didn't seem to work at all, upon further reflection, I decided it was all the Outlaws fault....

Buh Buh Ray nailing Billy Gunn with the steel chair had me giggling with glee. First off, I didn't see it coming, and second he held the chair up like he had just conquered the world. Classic Buh Buh Ray, the best psycho heel in the business today!!!

Even thought the end of this match was kind of botched due to some mental lapse by someone (Earl Hebner maybe?) it still managed to accomplish what is set out to do, show us that the Hardys and Edge and Christian are now at war. Their egos are in full force and each team wants to outdo the other. I can't wait for No Way Out to see what these teams have in store for us in the next chapter of this great rivalry.

I know I already mentioned Saturn's shoulder block of the Ho train, but I really feel it is worthy of being mentioned again...

Once again, I thought Cactus delivered one hell of a promo this week, building up the Hell in a Cell match...Man I love that guy...I can't wait to see him in the Main Event at Wrestlmania!

On the What the F*ck side of things...

I still have no idea what the hell the WWF is doing with Tazz. I realize he has to work his way up the ranks, but the Bossman...I guess he needs something to do as well...but like my friend Lewis (a huge Tazz mark) said to me...they need to set Tazz after somebody, like they did with him and Sabu in the ECW. Then Tazz runs through anyone who stands in the way of him getting to his man...that is the way to build up a guy who is a killer! Not whatever the WWF thinks its doing now...

One last thing, hopefully the metal piping or whatever that was through the DX Express's front window will be the last we have seen of that stupid shit.

Enjoy No Way Out, should be a wild ride....
