ChatThis2.5 Thoughts

About four hours ago, I started reading the chat transcript of ChatThis 2.5, the next in a long line of "anticipated" content releases by ScoopThis.com. I say "anticipated" because STc has become masterful at creating an imaginary demand for their content, and in their minds, this was apparently something that the entire internet would hold their breath for.

After talking with CRZ about this column, he pointed me to the unedited version of the chat transcript, which you can now find off of the main page on Slash Wrestling. I was very surprised to see that the chat had been heavily edited, and comments were added by the moderator in an attempt to make himself look good.

I had access to the unedited version of the chat before most of the general population of the net did, and so I had time to write up this column. I'm sure it's going to get some heat, but oh well - life isn't fair sometimes.

I won't bore you with any details of the chat itself. You can read it if you want - and read both versions if you're going to do it, because you'll need to see the inherent flaws that are in the edited version. In this column, I'm going to give some thoughts on the participants of the chat, and shed some light on what I believe are a few "personality" traits exhibited by your favorite internet journalists.

Let's get started, shall we?

Chris Hyatte: I can honestly say that I've read Chris Hyatte's material once in my entire life. Trust me, that was MORE than enough for me to make an accurate judgement on his writing skills and intelligence. After reading this transcript, I can honestly say that I was absolutely correct in my judgements of Hyatte. To put it simply, he's a fricking retard! Anyone in the world can throw out a plethora of curse words, mother jokes, and other toilet humor; it takes a real work of art like Hyatte to pull it off with such transparency. Hyatte is better of attempting to please his legions of sub-intelligent fans than trying to match wits with people like Sean Shannon and CRZ.

CRZ - Zimmerman is the "enigma" of this transcript. Everyone seems to be so engrossed in making his "ordeal" with Wrestleline into something that it really isn't that they forget to ask the man himself what he thinks. Now, if you take a look at the STc version of the transcript, you'll notice that Dusty made CRZ look like an egotistical fool; in reality, Dusty went back in and added the majority of those comments. Now, CRZ has a bit of an ego, but anyone in his position needs one. I had wondered

Sean Shannon - I've come to respect Sean a great deal over the past few months. It's not very often that you find someone who is willing to completely and totally share his life and tribulations with his fans on the internet; yet, Shannon does that each and every week. What I don't understand is the tendency of people to bash him for doing just that! His claims that he can create the next great independent site are not unfounded - Sean could bring in Scott Keith and John Petrie and he could definitely create the next Wrestlemaniacs. Sean is an interesting person, and most of all, he is REAL. You don't find that these days on the internet, and I gotta respect that. And no, I have no desires of a nWWWo membership!

RichInKC - I lost a ton of respect for Rich throughout this chat. He was quick to jump down everyone's throat if they even DARED to mention the simple fact that Scoops sucks! It's not like it's a singular opinion, right? Scoops just sucks - always has and always will. Just because they get 20 million page views per hour doesn't mean they are a good site. Rich lowered himself to Hyatte's level for most of this chat, which is fitting, seeing as how they are both in the employ of Extreme Interactive Media. Oh, and Rich's constant boasting of his wrestler contacts were rather grating as well. I could care less if you freaking interviewed Chris Benoit, Rich! I designed Arn Anderson's webpage, and you don't see me trotting that out in every column!

Dusty The Fat, Bitter Cat - I must admit something here - I've always been a Dusty fan. Up until this chat, I've been of the opinion that Dusty was the only talent worth reading on STc. He seemed different than the rest of STc - he was like Mark Madden in the sense that he wasn't your traditional company man. After reading the raw transcript, I'm having second thoughts. Dusty took the regular real-time transcript, added his own comments after the fact in several places, and edited out parts of the conversation that made him look bad. In fact, Dusty came out looking like he had defeated the great CRZ, when in fact, all he did was add comments here and there to make himself look good. Dusty is no different than the rest of the STc staff - they hype themselves until they are blue in the face; they talk about page views in the millions per month. But when everything fades away and you are left with the honest truth you find in the raw transcript, you realize that STc and it's staff is nothing more than a horde of egoes running rampant just because they have found a niche market. Dusty, you just shot yourself in the foot, and I hope readers realize what a farce you are.

Final Thoughts - All in all, this chat was a series of confirmations of a few things I've had running around in my head for awhile. Number one, Chris Hyatte is a loser. His incessant name-calling tactics did nothing but prove once again that he is a childish, immature brat who just happens to write for the biggest, sorriest site on the internet. Second, CRZ is quickly establishing himself as a real celebrity - you know..."No autographs please!" He's still the best recapper around, though. Lastly, these chat sessions suck; this one just happened to be the best one of the bunch. And until I read the unedited version, I had thoughts about nominating Dusty for Funniest Online Wrestling Personality (yeah, I know the award doesn't exist, but play along here!). Now, I'm going to give him another award - Journalist Most Likely To Be A Pussy In Real Life!

I might check back in with a retro review of the first two ChatThis editions, just for fun.
