Wrestling Dementia Today on Dementia: Daniel tackles the tough topic of WCW abuse...the smarts who loathe them and the genetically stagnated freaks that love them... You know boys and girls, these days it seems to ole' PDB (as the folks down home like to call me) that people...especially those who dub themselves "smarts"...seem to have been using the WCW for a scapegoat for a lot of the problems with wrestling right now. Now god forbid I sound too much like Sean Shannon, whose martyrdom complex and desire to be "pertinent" often render him as impotent as a squashed fly with a vasectomy, but I must admit that wrestling as a whole has been slipping into the suck hole as of late. True the WWF's product is vastly better right now, but that doesn't make it full proof. Example: CRZ, I'm sorry about this, but your boy Steve Blackman is so lacking in charisma that he serves as a black hole for momentum in WWF programming. Then take the recent WCW-style booking of the Big Show's heel turn. Or the forced rise of HHH to main event status, when his crowd response and ring skills don't show him ready. Or the fact that Mabel is on my god damned television dressed like a member of the trench coat mafia. Or the fact that the Rock is currently stagnating in a program with Billy Gunn when the belt should be around his waist. Or the Hardy Boys losing the titles to the most white trash goths to ever paint arcane symbols on their beer bellies. I could go on no doubt. Now I must be honest and say that despite my more than slight tirade previously, the WWF is doing much more good than bad. The addition of the Paragon of Virtue (and baseless newsboard postings) will no doubt help charge the shows up beyond the high standards raw has set for us. But I just wanted to establish that they weren't full proof. So what about the WCW? I'm a huge WWF mark so this is the time in the column were I rag on the WCW for a page or two to get a couple of e-mails this week kissing my ass for validating their opinions. It ain't that kinda show buster....wherever the fuck that came from.... Sure the booking still sucks. Sure they've given Hogan yet another title run. But hell people: what do you want? The smarts bitch endlessly about Benoit not having a title around his waist. They only have so many titles to give kids, but is the fact that he's in a high profile angle with high profile matches not satisfy you? Of course not. Then we'd have nothing to bitch about. Vampiro gets the push the smarts want and they just look it over and find a new "unappriciated" talent to support. All those fans who were watching and loving it during the NWO hey-days are responsible for the state of many of your favorites languishing in a WCW limbo. First off, you gave the bastards money to dobble up infinately more talent than they could ever use, thus turning talented indy up and comers into jobbers on par with the Brooklyn Brawler. You helped convince Bischoff that Hogan still puts asses in the seats because you used to be some of those aformentioned asses. And Bischoff still thinks that genuine loathing and heat are the same things (as indicated by his belief that the cat is, or ever could be, over) and so your endless attacks make him feel vindicated. Now I would never go so far as to say that the WCW was by any strech of the mimagination good. But that's part of what I'm saying. WCW is slowly on its way out, so let the poor old bitch die gracefully without giving them publicity. If Nitro sucks, don't fucking watch it. Make love to your girlfriend before raw, down some beers, read a good book, enjoy internet wrestling commentary (applicable to all the underage readers out there who can't score or read....hell...most newsboard reporters can't even read....) or even wait for the Scoops page to load. There is a bright beautiful world out there for you kids who are willing to let dead horses lie. In the meantime, I send you my love...each and every one of you...except the pimply kid up front....um....fuck you... Was that provactative?
