SHARON'S EDGE

Greetings, sports entertainment fans! It is I, 'that Sharon Austin girl' as Chris Hyatte referred to me in his last recap. As flattered as I was for his mention, I can't help but feel he gave the other CRZ writers here a bum rap. I think all my CRZ compadres deserve praise, so go read their columns and let them hear it! But thanks anyway, Chris! And lest my ego get too out of control, there's always someone to let me know I suck, right Scott? :)

Anyway I'm here to talk wrestling-for the most part, I enjoyed ECW's Heat Wave. I think I about broke even on my predictions; there was no doubt that Tajiri and RVD were going to be victorious! I felt kind of bad for Little Guido though, how many 3-way dances has he had now? Oh wait-that's right, Mikey made it a 4-way dance! I'm becoming a big Mikey fan now that he's back to showing what he can do in the ring!

That promo he and the Sinister Minister did on the hardcore show, hyping the PPV with Vandenberg using the Gilligan's Island theme and Mikey mimicking the wrestlers involved was classic. The Big Sal and Balls match was OK, there's a story there but the match wasn't hyped so there wasn't much heat. I was glad to see Nova & Chetti, hopefully the future tag team champs! I also like the Baldies-DeVito has shown some real ring skills lately while Angel's good on the mic. For the most part the Baldies are ECW's version of the Mean St. Posse, albeit with sick bumps.

The match of the night definitely belonged to Steve Corino and Jerry Lynn. Is Steve trying to top the Muta scale in every PPV he's in? And the sight of Jerry Lynn using Steve's blood as war paint was sick and totally awesome! (OK, I can be a sick bitch, I admit it!) I was surprised at RVD not getting a complete squash over Scotty. I guess I underestimated him. As usual, RVD was very impressive and that Van Terminator move was unbelievable! My main disappointments were seeing Rhino beat Sand Man YET AGAIN and watching Justin Credible beat Tommy again.

While I admit I think Rhino & Sandman have a good feud going-what with Rhino dissing and hurting Sandman's wife, not to mention Sandman never having that TV title-I honestly don't think either one of them should have that belt! Give it to Jerry! Hell, give it to Corino! I think those two would make the belt more interesting. I like Rhino but he's not the most interesting character and I'm back to thinking Sandman is all entrance and no real ring work-come on, how long did it take him to get to the ring?

I was glad to be wrong about Kid Kash & company losing-I'm becoming a really big fan of the Kid. Of course I'm waiting for C.W. Anderson to refer to Simon, Swinger and himself as the new Triple Threat-I know that's not far off! Judging from the amount of trash thrown in and around the ring (not to mention actually hitting Justin) I wasn't the only one really disappointed in the main event. I guess Paul E. is going to make us all sweat until we see Tommy get that belt. I'm sure he will, eventually. he whole match was off kilter really-I mean why was Gorgeous George with Tommy?

Why didn't they put her with the Sinister Minister, she would've filled the role of Lust quite nicely. She could distract Mikey's opponents with her erotic *dancing* (that WAS what she was doing when they first showed her, right?) So Tommy brings her out as the 'secret weapon' (W*T*F?) then she turns on him and hugs Francine! Excuse me, but wasn't that Francine beating the crap out of her 2 weeks ago? WhatEVER! Aside from this pointless swerve, I still give the PPV a thumbs up. Oh and that reminds me, what was the point of Jasmin & Blue boy on the beach at the beginning? Oh wait-it was for the sight of Jasmin in a bikini, right? Yeah, OK.

So I was wondering what brought the locker room and security to the crowd at the beginning of the main event and now I've read the reports about the XPW's little confrontation. The first report I read put the blame directly on ECW but then the reporter was affiliated with XPW so I'm not surprised. Now this is what I understand, the XPW people went there with the intent of publicizing themselves but it seems they went overboard. They claim they go to WWF & WCW shows too but somehow I don't see them pulling something like that in those shows. I would be wary too of a group of people wearing a rival company's t-shirts at my show. One or two guys maybe but a group? Come on! And considering what ECW's going through right now, this was really bad timing. If this turns into a lawsuit, I feel it's akin to kicking ECW while it's down. That's my opinion anyway.

Well, onto better things-hell must be freezing over and I'm looking out my window for flying pigs because I actually enjoyed Nitro this week! I can't complain when I see Booker T., the Jung Dragons, Lance Storm (Congrats to the new U.S. Champ!!)Muta and I'm really enjoying Positively Kanyon. Maybe it's the absence of Russo, Bischoff & Hogan but I'm actually watching now! God, I'd never thought I'd write THAT. Let's move on quickly, shall we? It was great to see the Dudleys take on the Hardys again-what a match! OK, the hormones started raging when Buh Buh ripped open Jeff's shirt! *sigh* Oh sue me! And what an awesome bump Lita took! Dare I say Lita takes on Trish at Fully Loaded? Just don't let it be in an evening gown match-PLEASE!!

OK, so now Bull is with Stevie-oops, I mean Steven? Still in search of a gimmick. Well, it gets him away from Boss Man so I won't complain. And let's hope putting Terri with Saturn helps him too. Boy, if any woman was more deserving of the 'slut' chant, it's Terri-wonder why she doesn't get it? Wow that attack on Eddy was scary-a Perry/Eddy feud will work for me, at least until Raven comes. The Rock enraged is always a joy for me and that Rock Bottom on the limo was amazing! I love this new Canadian stable Shane is assembling-how will the Big Show fit in? And I'm still wondering about the homoerotic tone of Shane & Benoit but no doubt it should inspire a lot of slash stories.

Fully Loaded looks to be an exciting PPV and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not going to play Nostradamus this time, I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. You do the same, OK?

Until next time...........
