SHARON'S EDGE

Greetings, sports entertainment fans! Well, Survivor Series and RAW are over and what are we left with? Disappointment, anger, confusion, boredom and frustration. Let's start with the mess of the PPV- the first match, featuring the pimp stable was cute (and D'Lo was adorable!) but the Acolytes and Dudleys are natural born enemies and should stay that way. Most of the SS card didn't move me; I was less than thrilled to see the women's match didn't do the elimination thing like the men's matches did, left to sudden death so as to make it shorter. And why oh why was Mae and Moolah included-didn't they do the right thing and retire? Boo! Hiss! The only real surprise in this match was that Terri actually wore a bra!

Lucas at WWF.com did a column this week where he basically said there should be no women in the ring (well, with the exception of Chyna) All the competitors should take a break while just Debra, Terri & Miss Kitty should be seen.

I say bull****, Lucas! As a female fan, I get bored with the endless parade of hoes, puppies and kittens! I also say that if you pay as much attention to the male characters as you do to the female ones, maybe they would be over by now! Maybe if the WWF hadn't used the real talents of Jackie & Luna to get the artist formerly known as Sable over, they'd have more of a fan base! He had the gall to say Jackie had no charisma-well it hasn't stopped Mideon and Viscera from appearing on TV! Maybe if we saw these women more often, the crowd would be more into them! Instead we get more Moolah & Mae! Give me a break!

Anyway--I was into the Jericho/Chyna match. I'd been reading all the negative reports about Y2J and how some people were predicting that a Jericho loss would equal jobber status. Even Bob Ryder, (that WCW shill), remarked that Jericho 'got beat by a girl'-I say you get in the ring with her, Bob, and we'll see what happens. Like her theme (now) says 'don't treat me like a woman'. Chyna's no ordinary woman-I guess some people refuse to look past that. Well, Jericho definitely made Chyna work for her belt and I'm surprised but glad that she kept it.

Onto the main match-well, I noticed that Stone Cold had kept himself out of the action lately, leading me to speculate about an injury. So now we have the cliffhanger-who ran over Stone Cold? Hhmm...Billy Gunn was the only DX member we didn't see...King says he saw blonde hair...but I guess 2+2 doesn't always equal 4, especially in the WWF! I say the coolest thing would be it turning out to be either Undertaker or Taz in a blonde wig! Although, I'm hoping UT will make his return at Test & Stephanie's wedding to take his 'bride' back.

Back to SS-the best thing about the triple threat match was the Rock and HHH teaming up to take on TBS. I was disappointed that the Rock didn't win the belt but I'm cool with the Big Show holding it for now. I was waiting for him to dedicate to his dad or do a shoot on RAW about it. We were cheated out of seeing Paul Wight make shredded pork out of BBM but I guess now that BBM's the #1 contender (W*T*F*????) this showdown is inevitable. I, for one can't wait! Too bad Paul didn't run down to the ring during BBM's match with Rock-I really was waiting for him to choke slam him through the ring like he did UT!

Onto to some random thoughts-
  • Please let this be the last time Arnold Schwarzenegger is allowed at ringside! His commentary made Stephanie look like Jim Ross! It was so obvious Arnold never watched the new WWF Attitude! It was enough to make me want to listen to Michael Cole!
  • I'm looking forward to Mick and Al's Vegas adventures!
  • See? The truth comes out-Vince Russo was tired of Vince McMahon taking credit for the WWF's success. I knew ego (not to mention money) had something to do with it! I knew all those cheap shots taken were for a reason. Now he's developing a wrestling sitcom-how soon before that leads to his defection from WCW?
  • This is the last time I mention Russo or Ferrerra.
  • Speaking of last times, please let this be the last time I see Mankind vs. Val Venis. Enough is enough! OK, Val is a bad guy-I get it! I get it! I really am missing Ken Shamrock and the Undertaker. I even miss Paul Bearer (kind of) There's a hole in the roster. (And I'm thinking about Droz too, bless him!)
  • I really wish Vince would reconsider these monthly PPV's-it's draining the creative direction. I understand that it's supply and demand but I hear that some of the PPV's buyrates were lower than expected. First of all, who wants to spend 30 bucks a month-every month? If you do it like bimonthly, you can build up your feuds and people will anticipate the PPV!!! Therefore leading to higher buyrates-listen to me!
  • Ryan Shamrock signed to WCW? Is she going to take AC Jazz's place in the Nitro Girls?
  • That BBM/Big Show funeral vignette was so over the top, I laughed. After all the negative reports I read, it was very much ado about nothing . I was all prepared to be shocked and outraged. Blah!
  • How sad is it that those boys pay more attention to Debra's puppies than to what the Slam-cam is doing on their computer screen?
  • Raven was so pitiful this week, I found myself wanting to hold him. Why'd you let the drunk beat him up,Tommy/Mommy?
  • Well Rebecca (Rebecca's Rants) and I were debating about including graphic descriptions of our feminine endowments a la CyanIndigo's column because she's been getting a lot of attention from some of the other guys on this site. But we both realized that no one does that better than the Internet Goddess herself (nothing worse than a poor copy, eh, WCW?) so I'll stick to my news and views on wrestling.

Well, that's it for me. Until next time, dear readers.
