Hey CRZ! This is a column that i started about two months ago. But I
had to stop writing it because my teacher made me put it away (those darn 7th
grade teachers) and I completely forgot until now. But since I don't think
anybody has pointed this out yet I thought I my as well at least finish it
and send it to you. I'm just hoping it's not too outdated for you or anything
since Foley has retired. Well, enough with the rambling. Here it is.
By Mr. Saturday Afternoon Everybody knows who Mic Foley and Jim Duggan are. They are both heroes of wrestling. But besides that nobody else notices the similarities between these two great wrestlers. So all of you know the similarities between these guys I thought I figured I my as well tell you about them. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Both men have given us memorable matches. Mic Foley had the famous "Hell in a Cell" at King of the Ring and the I-Quit match at Royal Rumble. Hacksaw Jim Duggan gave us some memorable matches too. He gave us the horrendus match with Berlin and the sleepfest of him taking on Andre the Giant. And I will never forget the match with Bill Goldberg when we saw his behind. It still gives me nightmares.
As everybody knows Mic Foley is considered one of the most extreme or hardcore wrestlers to ever brace a wrestling ring. He has wrestled in tons of matches with items like barbed wire and garbage cans in it. But nobody notices the hardcore side of Jim Duggan. He walks around hitting people in the head with two by fours. Now that's extreme.
Mic Foley has had some of the best and funniest finishing moves ever. Moves like sweet schin music, the double arm ddt, and the mandible claw are some great finishers. But Jim Duggan has and had some great finishers too. Remember the taped fists? That always had me on my feet in astonishment when he used those taped fists. Another great finisher of Duggan's was the old glory knee drop. It always left me breathless seeing a guy at that age to a high-risk maneuvar like that.
Mic Foley has cut some of the greatest segments in wrestling history. He has great mic skills and always could crack a good joke. One of his most memorable segments was the "Rock this is your Past" segment. But Hacksaw Jim Duggan in my eyes cut the greatest segment in wrestling history. Not too many people saw it because it was played on WCW Saturday Night but let me recap it for you. This is some of what Duggan said, "You know people see me and me questions like Hey Hacksaw! Why don't you get yourself one of those cool tattoos? Or they say hey Hacksaw! Why don't you get yourself one of those cool laser lights? And I tell them this. I don't need any of those things because I go to the ring to do one thing and one thing only. To beat people up!". Now there is no way you can tell me that isn't greatness.
Of course everybody remembers when Mic Foley was a referee for the WWF. He got to referee some of the main event at Wrestlemania 15. But Hacksaw Jim Duggan was a janitor for WCW for awhile. And he was such a good janitor he was given the name "America's favorite janitor".
Mic Foley represents a group called the Union (Hey if it was in the video game then the group must still be together). This group includes the Big Slow, Test, Foley, and some other people. They fought against the Corporate Ministry. Jim Duggan represents America. He fights against anybody that badmouths it. And he has never said anything bad about the red, white, and blue. Even though he made a bet with the Revolution and the Trouser Snake saying he had too he never did. As you can see these two great men have tons of things in common. So next time you see Hacksaw Jim Duggan on television when you are watching wrestling with your friends don't badmouth because he's old. Because you are badmouthing Mic Foley too when you do that. Have good day everyone. And give me feedback on what you think about this.
