Award Description:

To be given to the best major event. This could be a pay-per-view, a TV
special, or any big arena event. In 1994, TV shows and major shows were
given separate award categories.

CHRIS BIRD: In spite of being total shit for most of the year, WCW got it
together long enough for Spring Stampede to be the best PPV of the year by
a mile and a half. ECW Anarchy Rulz had three **** matches on it and did
indeed rule. (Rul?) No Mercy started out lousy (Moolah!) but then ended
strong with some really kickass matches, of course including the ladders.

SVEN MASCARENHAS: While Survivor Series had great angles, SummerSlam had
the angles AND the wrestling. And Spring Stampede was an example of just
how good WCW can be when they wanted to be.

AARON: Anarchy Rulz was my first ECW PPV and will not be the last. I
thought everything clicked, even the much bitched about main event.
Massacre & No Mercy were huge surprises in my eyes.

DON BECKER: I have to go off the board for my top pick, and I really
enjoyed All Japan's Dome show this year, which was a great card from top
to bottom.  WWF No Mercy and ECW Anarchy Rulz were the best shows in the
States this year, with No Mercy getting the edge for having the WWF's
MOTY.

SHAWN MULLIN: Survivor Series wasn't the best "wrestling" show.. although
Mankind vs. Austin and Mankind vs. the Rock were damn fine matches.. but
it told the best and most interesting story.  I've never been as involved
and entertained as I was watching the storyline play out.  Too bad the
wrestling was rushed.  No Mercy, after the opening crap, had the match of
the year, a fine main event and average to good stuff for the rest of the
show. Also, 'Mania15 was the most underrated show on the net.  The
wrestling was good from the top to the bottom except for the women's match
and the Hell in the Cell.  The Main event was great, and there was lots of
interesting stuff throughout the card.

BLOB: WCW Spring Stampede showcased WCW's best stuff and easily walked
away with the Major Show award. ECW's Anarchy Rulz was ECW's most
sucessful pay per view, and it seemed that way as well. Heatwave was way
above average and was one of the best ones of the year.

ADNAN VIRK: I didn't witness any ECW ppvs

JOHN C.:Spring Stampede was the best PPV of the year as it was one of the
few WCW PPVs this year where all the wrestlers were on from top to bottom.
It provided three good to very good matches plus Hogan got injured during
the main event which is always a plus. The major WWF PPVs were a
disappointment for the most part although I enjoyed Backlash and
Summerslam was decent too.  I put Anarchy Rulz third since it was quite
enjoyable although an RVD/Balls Mahoney main event was a letdown.

MIKE SCHIRO:  This ECW, sans the poor main event, was a pretty good
top-to-bottom show.  The whole Mike Awesome re-debut left a great taste in
my mouth after the show was over.

ELLIOT SPARKS: Best major show is, with a lot of doubt, NJPW's 'New Japan
Spirit '99'. While it didn't have a single bout worthy of the year's top
ten matches list, this one was nonetheless infected with bouts ranging
from solid to superb. Aside from a main event which saw a revitalised
Keiji Muto carry Don Frye to a great mat exhibition and a typically
enjoyable Kanemoto/Ohtani match, this was notable for the input of
outsiders. Battlarts guys came, saw, and won me over - Minoru Tanaka in
particular. Then the Great Sasuke showed his colours in the great IWGP
Junior tag match, working with Liger to produce a memorable start to a
forgettable reign. All things considered, one of the best shows to take
place anywhere the last five years. But I'm the only person voting for it,
I'd bet. Spot two goes to ECW commercial tape Cyberslam, again from April,
which was absolutely stocked to the gills. An excellent mungloid Jap-lucha
opener gave way to excellent displays of pure lucha, yet more mungloid
Jap-lucha, hardcore brawling as it should be, and a bunch of solid
brawl-based US pro-style matches. The main event was a bit fecal, but with
an undercard this good the complaints should be few. I bet I'm the only
person who votes for this, too. Final spot again goes to ECW, for the
oft-forgotten Guilty as Charged. In my view, it was even better than
Anarchy Rulz, peaking with two excellent matches (Van Dam vs Storm and
Dreamer vs Credible) and consistency throughout. Maybe two people will
vote for this, if we're lucky. Also, props to WWF Backlash, Summerslam and
No Mercy, WCW Spring Stampede, and AJPW's Tokyo Dome show. A good
selection, in retrospect.

DONALD SEMACK:  Vince McMahon's performance is what made this card
memorable for me.

SEAN FLYNN:  SVM had a couple wonderful things on it.  Anarchy Rulz was
the hottest show of the year.  SS means WCW gets a vote!  Good card, only
really good thing from them this year.

B. SZPAKOWICZ: A rather tepid year for PPVs. Anarchy Rulz, Backlash, and
Wrestlemania get my votes, but none of them were actually particularly
great. (And WMXV *was* a good show. It just should have been better.)

JEREMY SORIA: For a non-Big-Five WWF PPV to top a Big Five PPV, it has to
be extremely impressive with great matches all around. That's exactly what
Backlash delivered.

HEATM:  ECW Heat Wave put every wrestler, angle and gimmick together in
one cohesive show that was the best PPV of the year.  In the WWF,
Wrestlemania XV was still, top to bottom, their most entertaining show of
the year.
